Thanks for this. It makes me tremendously happy. Have been obsessed with the Innocence Mission intensely lately, as the world descends into so much suffering and chaos. We need this music right now. It has healing power for certain. Thank you, IM.
It’s a beautiful song. Sometimes songs can be like beautiful friends that are always there for you. Don’t get me wrong, I have friends like that too, but songs are there 24/7 and can move you when you just want to be on your own.🙂🙏🏻❤️
Some days the biggest thing that gets me through the uncertainty and despair is the hope that one day, when the world is a bit gentler, I will get to see this group live. I love everything about them
Saw them at Marlboro College in Vermont in 1999. Spent the last of my money to get there from New Hampshire. I will never forget that night as long as I live.
Back in the 1990's i saw them on the Umbrella tour...and they where riveting live...the audience just stood there listening...transfixed...and erupting into extremely frantic applause after each song...it was amazing...and afterwords...they were so humble and genuinely kind to everyone...i actually corresponded with Karen through letters for a short period...and she was always so gracious to me...a stranger really...world class talent...with an amazing heart...and of course...absolutely beautiful...they will always be more than just music to me...

How in the world have I not seen this? I haven't seen them live since 1996. That is too long. Beautiful souls, beautiful music. Love them so much and their impact on my life.
I live in the Isle of Man so this is the closest I will get to seeing @timission live. Beautiful voice their music has spoken to me and helped with difficult times. Peace and Brotherhood of Man where ever you may find it.
They don't really tour, you have just as much chance as we do. This show was in their hometown I think. I would literally fly out if I knew it was happening
Thank you so much for posting this video. The Innocence Mission are a truly beautiful band, as others have said they are very spiritual artists, that express the beauty and love in the simple things in life. Life is better for having them in it. 🙂❤️🙏🏻
Fantastic. Thanks so much for posting. Set list Brotherhood of Man God Is Love Tom on the Boulevard Happy Birthday Delware (Don Peris/Mike Bitts) North American Field Song (Karen Peris on pianp) The Lakes of Canada Beautiful Change 500 Miles Bright As Yellow
Thank you so much for posting this. I've been a fan of these folks for a very long time, and it's wonderful to see them live again. I first heard them/saw them when opening for Natalie Merchant back in the 90s. At first, I couldn't believe they were real. Her voice and her just her "style" and Don's unsmiling, serious silence as they played one gorgeous song after another...wow...had me completely transfixed. They are such kind, loving people who have a lot of faith and hope for mankind. Karen's words stand on their own. But their music is ethereal. Spiritual. Really, thank you for sharing this. It's such a great treat.
I saw IM open up for Natalie Merchant (I think on her Tiger Lilly tour). They covered Both Sides Now. It was absolutely incredible. I hope Joni had a chance to see it. She would have been floored as were the rest of us!
Thanks for posting this. Would love to have the chance to see them live. This music has been a major source of joy and peace in my life over the last decade.
Would have loved to have been there. I've seen them twice in relatively large venues opening for Don Henley & Emmylou Harris. I would much prefer an Innocence Mission show in a cozier venue like this one.
The Innocence Mission is one of the bands I don't put on too often, favoring to cherish their art like a finely aged wine. Why cheapen the experience by just having them on in the background as I do chores or have "Umbrella" playing simply to silence life in the now. Anyone relate?
I put them on very very often actually. I want Karen to be on the soundtrack of my children's life. Mine too. I want her words to be etched on our souls.
Estos sonidos, y esta voz, son los sonidos de la despedida de la raza humana hacia algun nuevo planeta...luego de haber destruido y aniquilado a la Tierra. Sonidos de esperanza y buenaventura, por un mundo mejor...!
"Hey Karen, what should we do today?" "I dunno, how about we contemplate the complexities of human existence for a few hours then write a song about it." "Okay, sounds good".
I cannot figure out the lyrics to the first line of the second verse of the bridge at 30:22. It's not a repeat of the first line of the first verse of the bridge, even though every lyric site everywhere has them repeating. I've listened to all the recordings I can find of them singing this, and I still can't make it out. Anyone know or have a guess?
Thanks for posting this Ray! :) I've received considerable HD footage that was recorded during the show (closeups) but it's not enough footage to span the entire show. I'd love to combine with your footage if you wouldn't mind. Please send me a message. "ekabbott" is my gmail account if you can share this on your google drive or onedrive I'd appreciate it. I'd be happy to share with you the final product.
Why are people talking? They’re clearly not there for the experience of listening to music. It’s irritating to hear people speaking when music is being performed. Go to a stupid sports event if you feel compelled to pollute the atmosphere with banal conversation.
Thanks for this. It makes me tremendously happy. Have been obsessed with the Innocence Mission intensely lately, as the world descends into so much suffering and chaos. We need this music right now. It has healing power for certain. Thank you, IM.
I watch this atleast twice a year. it's gotten me thru some hopeless times. I beg you, kind Sir. Never delete this.
Crumpled into tears at "God is Love". Their music has escorted me through rooms of pain.
It’s a beautiful song. Sometimes songs can be like beautiful friends that are always there for you. Don’t get me wrong, I have friends like that too, but songs are there 24/7 and can move you when you just want to be on your own.🙂🙏🏻❤️
One of my favorite 90’s band, right next to Mazzy Star and Sundays. Never got to see them in concert, but this is pure celestial music.
this is just from another world. So incredibly moving. Anybody with me on this? Her voice, those notes, that melody....exquisite.
Yes, very with you
Yes, transcends words.
Awesome.........
They are authentic and humble. Don is backing his wife very sweetly. I think they are a great embodiment of what christian artists must be.
Totally with you there too ☺️
Some days the biggest thing that gets me through the uncertainty and despair is the hope that one day, when the world is a bit gentler, I will get to see this group live. I love everything about them
I would love that too. 🙏🏻

This is my family. They are gorgeous

The '90s produced some great bands and music. 2022 could use a resurgence of peacefulness.
I would travel across the country to see them for 20 minutes! Their music has, literally, been the soundtrack of my life.

I love the music of The Innocence Mission. Karen Peris is without question on of my favorite songwriters. Don's guitar work is pretty magical as well.
Wow. Their music brings me such peace. Karen's voice is truly stunning and the harmonies are so beautiful.

I feel so blessed to know this group! So much joy and tears I have had listening to them! Thank you for posting!
I never could understand her , Still I snag up every cd that I can find. I really love this band.

First live performance in 13 years! Absolutely gorgeous! God I'd love to get a soundboard of this show! Great post! Thanx!

Bien dicho. Les escuche mucho en los noventas. Tiene mas importancia in mi vida ahora que hace 20 anos.

"Okay, sounds good".
Sounds like a day in the life

Pity the video isn't as good as audio, but beggars can't be choosers; they perform rarely now. Classic voice & songs.
Do they play live?
This is a very rare performance.
Big thanks to the people looking for a seat for 30 mins of the video. Jesus.
karen is very nice, isnt she?
Ridiculously so
Yes. Don & Mike r nice, too. Surprise!
wheres the drum
Not all music requires drums.
