After putting this on hold since September of 2021 and focusing on other projects, I wanted to finish this to clear the way for work on Wolf 359. Like most of my videos this represents another first for me, this time being major landscaping and building design, and more in depth character animation. I realize my ground shots are hardly "studio" quality and the character animations could be better, but please be kind, I damn near took a hammer to my PC in frustration working on this project.
I noticed the walking animations were rudimentary, but it came out really well.
You figure character animations and you can redo TAS episodes!
I read this comment before watching the video and I honestly think your ground stuff was amazing, you sure its a first? It may not be "studio" quality but it's certainly close, I really hope you do more.
Great work! I've never seen the original footage of the game so this is all new to me! Great job for your first time with the landscaping and such!
The 1701-A animations and other stsrships were great. The ground animations were good to excellent. You would see your intended effect on the small screen. Blown up or IMAX people might be able to dissect them more. Who cares really? The people caring could barely draw stick animations mostly. :D If you were given a big enough budget and top of the line computer assets, most of us could not tell the difference. This right up there with ST: Enterprise along with Voyager, Discovery and Picard. This exceeds the other movies and TV shows. Maybe...just maybe Strange New Worlds will exceed it. I love the refit Enterprise look. NCC 1701 and 1701-A
Well, in your defense you don’t have a multi million dollar vfx budget, and you’re not 30 people
That first shot of the Enterprise is glorious.
Let’s not forget the incredible work of Ron Jones during this. The man created some of the best moments from early TNG and even with a smaller orchestra, he still shoots for the stars. The only sad part is realizing I’m old because this came out 30 years ago.
I once interviewed Ron, not about Star Trek but rather his work on DuckTales. Anyway, the man knows his stuff! It was one of my favorite interviews. I’m sad more of his work isn’t out there commercially for people to enjoy.
At least there was someone there who recognized how good he was, even if Berman didn't want him.
Firing Ron Jones for being too good at his job was the worst decision Berman ever made.
I'll never get tired of seeing the Refit Enterprise in all her glory in 3D. She looks as beautiful as we originally see her in TMP.
She's always been a lovely ship.
Love it. Still have my physical copy. First game I bought with my very first computer, a Compaq Presario 4508 in 1996. Great memories of each.
We know who to call if we want a Star Trek: Starfleet Academy remaster! 👀👀
Can't help but feel that if the game got a remaster, THIS is exactly how that opening scene would look. Absolutely superb work!
That's utterly fantastic, I'm very impressed with the atmosphere inside spacedock. Not too dark but not too bright absolutely spot on.
absolutely gorgeous. The Starfleet Academy intro was my favourite gaming intro of all times and this here is stunning.
I loved this game so much. It was great!
My favourite game back then. I still have the CDs.
Amazing job
Me too. I also still have the Super NES version.
I liked this game, and loved Klingon Academy. And I also still have the CDs for both.
All five of them. What a game.
you never cease to impress me
This game was truly immersive and compelling, at a time when I thought the original crew timeline had no more legs left. This brings back lots of fond memories of Star Trek in its prime as a franchise. Many thanks for the nostalgia fix!
I just wanted to say thank you for producing this, you touched the memory of when I first played this game in 97 as a kid. Thank you so much for doing this...awesome sauce.
All of a sudden, seeing the Big E sail into Spacedock, i really want to see the whole 'Stealing the Enterprise' sequence redone - as the effects in the movie are sorely in need of a re-do.

My absolute favorite touch is how the deflector dish changes from blue to amber once entering spacedock, then properly shutting down once docking. It is NOT supposed to be blue all the time. Thank you so very much for remembering that
The A pulling into the spot where 1701 last did the same with exclesior in the similar silhouette is really nice.
Truly magnificent! Well done! I loved this game as a kid, played it over and over!
I was a young teenage Star Trek super fan when this game came out. It was one of the first PC games my Dad and I bought to run on our state of the art Pentium 1 200mhz powered custom PC. This was fantastic well done.
That little tidbit of the Connie's navigational deflector shifting from blue to gold was awesome.
This is beautiful. I can't stop watching.
1:21 that shot is so freaking beautiful!!!!!!!!!!! I was in the middle of recreating this but I'm stopping cause mine will not do it justice likes yours has!! Freaking amazing!!!
Don't you dare stop! Even if your work isn't top quality (mine isn't perfect), don't stop just because someone else is doing something similar.
Always loved this intro. Well done! (I always questioned why in the game video they'd reopen those massive doors for the tiny Galileo to fly out, though. You'd think there's an alternate exit for support craft!)
You Think Anyone Have the guts to tell The Captain Kirk To Use the Alternate Door when he is in a Hurry? I Just open the big door and say good day.
Absolutely gorgeous. The Constitution class refit (TMP) is the best-looking Enterprise, and you made her look fantastic.
Its' always a good thing if the old Trek games get some love nowadays. Great work!
That was MARVELOUS! Thank you!😊
This a real love letter to the game. Fantastic work!
This is brilliant! Nice work.
I have fond memories of playing this game and Klingon Academy.
This is incredible, dude. I still have the game on disc and this makes me want to bust it out and play it again. Nice job!
That was so awesome! Thank you for the memories, and the gorgeous shots of the Enterprise!
I remember this game. I played it thousands of times on PC since 1991. Great job on the re-creation of the graphics.
It was actually released in 1997.
Freakin' amazing! Makes me wanna dig up the CD's and install the game!
Beautiful! Love your camera moves (and of course all the visual details) as they capture the feel and majesty of ILM fx shots. It might just be how I look at it, but always felt like they gave a real respect to how the Enterprise and ships for filmed and treated.
I remember playing this as a kid. One of the best Star Trek games ever. This was so well done. Brings back such great memories.
So right! Absolutely perfect! I am literally crying! So many memories of this game; to still see so much love put into this!
This is amazing! Sitting here watching with a big grin on my face! Very impressive!
Fantastic work man! Love the way you light things and get that 'film' look. Never easy with CGI.
Oh. My. GAWD!! I had to stop everything when I got the notification! Like most commenters, SFA is one of my favorite games - next to Bridge Commander - that I cherish! THANK YOU soooo much for redoing this! 😃 I noticed in the credits that Wiley Coyote and Starforce Productions did some models - I have most of their mods for Bridge Commander! If they're reading this/if you can pass the word, "Thank you!" as well! 😁 JTVFX, you're awesome! 🙏🙏 Sooo grateful for your talents! Can't wait for the next one/Wolf 359! Live Long & Prosper! 🖖😎 Edit: Ok, two things... 1. Whoa! I noticed this on the first pass, but I was too spoiled by the beautiful eye-candy 👀 to comment on this: The main deflector dish CHANGES COLORS!! *Faints* 2. The ship coming into frame at roughly timestamp 2:20 - is that a Matt Jefferies designed Connie-class from Star Trek Phase II?! I could be wrong, and if I am, sorry, but if not... Hoo Boy!! Just... wow! Ok, I'm so sorry for fanboying out, but this is so beautiful I pulled out my copy of SFA and (apologies to the creators) I cringed while watching the OG opening sequence... I'm terrible, I know! Thanks again! Awesome!
Regarding the Connie at 2:20 :
It's simply a TMP-era Refit Connie with rotated warp nacelles.
A model of it can bee seen in the TNG-episode "Booby Trap":
www.ex-astris-scientia.org/observations/boobytrap/44-boobytrap.jpg 🙂
@@FekLeyrTarg That's even BETTER! Lol! I remember that model from the episode. It's the background stuff that I try to pay attention to and am usually rewarded! This is a perfect example, too! 😁 The background ship is from the BG of a TNG episode! Lol! It's great! Thanks for the link and for clarifying the ship! It means a lot! Be safe & healthy! Peace & Long Life! 🖖😎
That's really cool! I really love that you took the time to build the Starfleet Academy and it looks awesome. I'm curious to know if that was the hardest part of the video, because it has a pretty set in stone look from the game but there probably wouldn't be many assets to use, you'd have to build everything from scratch. What I love is that in the last shot you can see there's different things going on in the different corners of the video, makes it feel more real.
Second hardest actually. The hardest believe it or not was the cockpit view of San Francisco. I almost cut the shot because no matter what I tried, I couldn't get it to match the quality of the others. I decided to leave it in simply for Kirk and Sulu's dialogue.
Listen, you are the best Trek vfx artist on RUclips. No one comes close to matching the aesthetic of 80s trek. I cannot wait for the battle of Wolf 359. There needs to be a special screening for that based on your preview.
Not only is this a great recreation, it's also nice to see it without the credits. Great work JTVFX!
Excellent attention to detail!!! Everything is perfect!!! 🖖
You even had the deflector dish power down. Nice touch!
I have such great memories of playing Starfleet Academy. Love this. 👌
The attention to detail when Enterprise is entering ESD, the spot lights, the tracking of the nacelle shadows on the ceiling above the bay doors and the deflector powering down. I missed it the first time.
CBS or Paramount needs you!!!!
You and your Team are freaking awsome!
This recreation looks so beautifull.
Its would be perfect for a HD mod of this classic game ^^
I always appreciate the details y'all put in to the Enterprise. The deflector dish and the warp grills. Just beautiful
God I'm speechless. I remember this from the late 90's and that intro blew me away at the time. You'v just made it 100x better.
Beautiful. Makes me want to play the game again! Great job.
Welcome Home, Enterprise.
Absolutely beautiful! Great work and can't wait to see what's next in line.
Absolutely gorgeous! 💯 THIS IS STAR TREK! I really miss Star Trek for what it used to be. Great workmanship and YOUR labor of love truly shows here.
Thank you for sharing this. I love it. Seriously!🙂
Great work my good man I can’t wait to see what comes next I really enjoy your work
This brings back so many memories. I remember playing this game on my family's old beat up Windows computer. Never got to finish the full game, don't think I even made it past the first four or five missions. :D
That was absolutely MARVELOUS! Thank you so much for this! 🖖🏼
This is amazing, I love both what you decided to keep the same and what you decided to change, incredible attention to detail, great work!
Oh this takes me back and your work recreating the into is beyond amazing! Thank you for all your time and effort and prayers to you and your family!
Man this game was so amazing back in the day. Perfectly remastered, well done !
This brings back so many good memories, Cheers and well made.
Awesome!! Nice touch with the deflector in “standby mode” during the final approach.
Can't believe this game came out 25 years ago
Love the progression of your work. By my calculations you will have a feature film next year👌🏼
I love how the Main Deflector changes color like in TMP.
wow. that is amazing. God I wish they make a new one.
I absolutely love this. You did a kick ass job. I loved playing this game when it came out back then.
Nice little easter eggs of showing the Excelsior and the U.S.S. Constellation below the Enterprise-A when she was docking.
I still have these games and the boxes for both Academy's. Will never toss those. Such good games.
The deflector dish switching to sublight upon entering spacedock and the constellation class was a nice touch.
I remeber hearing the music Ron Jones wrote for this so soaring and epic. Amazing compositions from an extraordinary man. If they'd only used music such as this for Star Trek:Enterprise.
Once again, you have made my day! This is absolutely wonderful work, deserving of much praise! Very well done, and sincere thanks for the joy you bring. How I'd love to see this on the big screen! 😀👏
I LOVED starfleet academy. I thought the graphics at the time were gorgeous, hr yours are purely breathtaking. Oooh though! The saucer only clearing the space doors by a metre or two!
I love that you put a constellation class in space dock, too, and that the HQ buildings in TVH were to the left of the academy campus
FMV was a mind-blowing trick to present video game graphics to 7-year old me. You recaptured the magic.
I played the game from front to back in the 90s...Magnificent to see this particular part in todays quality...nice detail with the deflector glow inside Spacedock, thats a nod to the Motion Picture
I had this game, some 25 years ago & what you've done is simply brilliant! 👌👍
Simply wonderful. Well done and thank you! 💛🖖
Wow. Spent so many hours playing this game. Sound effects pure nostalgia
I still have this game. It's actually sitting right here on my desk
Amazing ☺️👌
Berry nice! 😛 I can't wait to get home and see this in all it's glory in full HD on my computer screen 😩
Dude this is my 2nd favorite intro to any trek game (SFC 1 is my all time fav!) and man you did it JUSTICE. Fantastic work. I can't tell you how many hundreds of times I rewatched it and now yours is just shot for shot damn near perfect!!!!! LOVE IT.
That looks fantastic!
Thank you for putting a smile on my face. I adored this game when I was younger. The music (and your sequence) instantly takes me back to good times.
Man what a coincidence, I was just playing Starfleet Academy a few minutes ago...
Forget Paramount Plus. I'd pay real money to watch a Star Trek series made by you.
This was incredible! Amazing stuff
Love this game. From a golden era of Star Trek games!
The 90’s & Early 00’s had some of my favourite Trek games. A Final Unity, Starfleet Command, Starfleet/Klingon Academy. Brilliant games
I have and always shall be ... a fan.
I still have this game from when it first came out, and still play it from time to time.
Loved your version of the intro. 🤩
I always enjoyed this when I played the game years ago and very happy to see someone did a great job creating an updated version of it. Well done and thank you!
An incredible recreation - this takes me back to one of my favorite Star Trek PC games! Ron Jones' music is absolutely pitch perfect, as ever. Your textures and models are industry level at the very least! Amazing job! :)
Would LOVE to see an HD remake of this game someday... And this video confirms how amazing that would be...
Amazing video! And I was worried you're going to be on a very long unannounced hiatus after the last video! Glad to see you kept going!
I've been working all this time on four separate projects at once. I was going to hold off Starfleet Academy until after I do Wolf 359, but I decided to get it out of the way now.
Wow that was so amazing! Great work. I've always loved this intro and the music score, shame you can't recreate the actor scenes with deep fake lol.
Don't know how, and really not interested. Thanks for the comment. :)
This is so incredible. I remember when i was a Teenager playing this game with all its possible Endings. I wish there would be a remaster with this graphic today. It was one of the best startrek games. That and Klingon Academy, TNG A final Unity, Generations etc.
I particularly liked the colour change in the navigational deflector as it powered down. Great attention to detail. Glad i found your channel. You are extremely talented
If this game was a complete remaster, with the amazing visuals you have done here. I would replay this to death. Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo and of course. Steam. They need to see this.
Oh the nostalgia!
This is really nice work. Also, I apparently forgot that this game has a really, really good soundtrack.
This was great
So freaking awesome !!
I’ll never get tired of seeing the Enterprise A (refit) coming home .
Gorgeous video, once again.
