Surgeons really do deserve their pay.
They are NOT getting paid enough!
good thing government takes at least half proof they dont do it for the money
Go to Plastics lol ;)
Don't take yourself too seriously. You are ALWAYS responsible. You WILL get everything done and on time. When it's time to attend to a surgery just do that; when it's time to eat, just eat; don't think of what still needs to be done or what you already did. You are literally driving yourself to get stressed by not being in this moment which is all you have control over. So when driving, just drive. Smile at your accomplishments and enjoy them. You are AMAZING!
AngelOne11 thank you. I needed this
Stud Aquarius
I am so happy I was able to help! Meditation and especially Zazen helped me a lot to stay connected to the moment. It relieved my stress and anxieties. I realized that regardless of how I feel, I always get things done, so why stress. I learned to enjoy myself instead. This made me more productive and much kinder to myself and others.
Send you a warm gentle virtual hug
I also needed this, thank you for soothing my spirit
Thank you so kindly. I am always happy to be of help

Dr. Buck,
Can you please make a video on how surgeons should behave outside of the hospital? What type of attitude do you display as a surgeon in order to look professional and represent your field while remaining humble?
Thank you so much for those amazing videos. They’re very unique and helpful!!!
I like how real you are and don't BS anything. One of the people that inspired me to share my story on youtube and IG as I begin med school. Messaged you yesterday through IG!! Keep Kicking @$$ and stop the bleeding!!! - Aaron
An artificially limited supply of surgeons (mandatory government-sponsored and regulated residency and accreditation) will make sure that this situation continues to deteriorate...
Some people take "pride" in the fact that they can "take it" (seems to be your case?) and live a stressful life with not enough time to dedicate to their families or the people they love (including themselves).
Others think that because they "can't take it" they are worthless and then kill themselves.
The 2 reasons for limiting the supply of surgeons through government regulation are:
1- the alleged reason: "We need to make sure that all the surgeons are very good in order not to harm patients" . This is wrong because the low number of surgeons actually cause *way* more harm than "bad surgeons" could do. The problem is that you *can't measure* "how much harm is done by the absence of something" while you *can* measure malpractice.
2- The "real-world" reason: A limited market keeps the existing/older surgeons in higher demand and with more "political influence". The problem is that even this is wrong since in the long run the surgeon himself and his family will get sick and will suffer the effects of a limited market (low access, low quality, high prices... seems familiar?)
This is unsustainable long-term (we are thought in school that this is the way medicine has always been practiced... It isn't.) . I take solace in the knowledge that this whole situation is so absurdly sick that it just *has* to fall under it's own weight. Expect some really drastic changes to healthcare in the coming years. But things will get unbearably worse before they get better (doctors will hold on to this failed system and use their political power as long as they can without realizing the consequences and that they are harming themselves AND their patients).
Sorry... I'm a bit salty today
Great points. The "taking pride in misery" is definitely a culture in medicine and especially surgery which is ridiculous. I use to be like that but I really am not (although this video may seem like it...that was not the point of the video). I refused to work in those type of environments and now I have a much more balanced life in which my worth is not reliant upon how miserable i am because i can overwork myself LOL.
Honestly the medical & education industry should make way more money than majority of industries that exist.(Entertainment, Cars, Finance etc..)
Cesar Ordaz yo chill on Finance, hospitals wouldn’t even exist without them
Dr. Buck Parker~💙👨⚕️Prayers to your dad on his check up with the Cardiologists🙏

I’ve wanted to be a surgeon every since I was little but the only thing that’s holding me back is will I be able to have a family and have time for them ? Could you please make a video about that ??
Talina Duong check out Jenny Le’s RUclips. She’s not a surgeon but she just became a mother not too long ago and she’s a doctor with a crazy work schedule and she does videos talking about balancing ur day to day life with ur work life
Talina Duong I recommend for you to search for dr. cat on Instagram. She’s a surgeon with her own practice. She also has a daughter and husband and sometimes talks about being a surgeon with a family😁
I JUST LOVE WATCHING YOU 😁
Wow! Surgery seems like an amazing specialty and sounds like you've got a packed schedule.

Esophageal varices and caput medusae are on one of the learning objectives for my anatomy test fri. Thanks for the reaffirmation on them haha
You should do a day in the life / a vlog
Can you please do a video on comparing The PA route and lifestyle compared to MD?
Can you make a video on how to be a general surgery sub intern? I know I'm supposed to be like the intern, but idk how I can start seeing 10-15 patients on day one when I used to see 3-4 AT MOST as a 3rd year. By the time I really figure it out, I bet my sub-i rotation will be done and the attending will think I'm a scrub
Hello dr, so why do you work in two hospitals?
money money money money money
I need some motivation man
Great video
Opinion on "socialist" healthcare vs free market healthcare? For example direct primary care (subscription based, no insurance company), health savings accounts, is Medicare "socialism"? Interested when doctors speak on these subjects even though it's somewhat outside their expertise (economics) Amazing split among doctors bet when it comes to government vs private sector healthcare..."Libertarian" doctors seem to be the most informed in my opinion...
Martin Jimenez I would disagree, my background aside from now pursuing Medicine is Accounting and we had to take Econ 1&2, Finance and etc. I am well versed in the matter. Normally, it’s not the expertise but many doctors nowadays have a diversely background in what they’ve studied in under grads or even in grad school.
This question is very political because depending on which party one affiliates with, affects how one would answer this. I lean more Libertarian, so you can probably guess how I feel about universal health care.
This has nothing to do with the video but you probably won’t respond on your older ones so. I have had 1symptom of appendicitis (sharp stabbing pain in bottom right of my stomach)and I want to get it checked out but my mum thinks it is constipation.is this 1 symptom enough to be concerned and maybe get my appendix removed before or if it bursts
Please respond quick if it is I want to go to the doctors ASAP
Where’s the best place to buy a labcoat Dr. Buck?!
There should be other trauma surgeons to take over. Tag team.
Hi there honey I live in poplar bluff Missouri
I think i wanna do surgery🤔
So is their time for sport or hobbies I think if their is a way for humanity to make doctor work less hours every doctor will be happy
Holy crap why do you cut so much the pauses you make you talk? I don't know about video editing but it makes you look less real. Nice video I loved it!
What a sexy job!!
I want to be a neurosurgeon but I'm afraid I won't have time for a family
You will definately have very... very... little time for your family as a neurosurgeoan... the call sucks because there are not many neurosurgeons
lamilumag your wrong look up videos called neuro surgeons with families
dude... I am a doctor who worked in neurosurgery before...
lamilumag tell me doctor what kind of motivational advice is this. I'm not judging you but I want to have a life to with a family and help people with neurological surgeries to one day. Is it possible? By any means
Yes - it is possible - but realistically speaking you will have much less time for your family than your usual employee. Surgery is generally taking up a lot of your time - 80hrs+ workweeks are normal and then there is the call. So you have to decide what you want in life - a day has only got 24 hrs. If you want to become a neurosurgeon you can't do that in 8 hrs. I'm not here to give you motivational advice - it's just how things are. Being a surgeon is not a walk in the park - it's taxing mentally, physically and it will take up a lot of your lifes time. If you are not up for that - simply don't do it. Assume that you have only got this one life - so get your priorities straight and decide what you want out of it.
Good to know since I'm dating one lol
Dr. Butt Farter, Enterologist
