    Yes, that particular Vampire is played by a pro-wrestler. That’s Triple H from WWE. And fun bit of trivia: Ryan Reynolds is a HUGE pro-wrestling fan, so when it came time for him to do his big 1v1 fight with Triple H, he wanted to do it all himself, no stuntman doing anything whatsoever except helping teach him the right moves.

    The reason we didn't get more Blade is because Wesley hated the script & direction of David Goyer so much, he physically attacked him to make him quit. He refused to come out of his trailer & would only do close-ups. Most of the medium & distance shot you see in the film are his stunt double. He wanted Guillermo del Toro back, but he was deep into his production of the first Hell-Boy film. This was supposed to be a pilot film for The Night -Stalkers. Patton Oswald has a great video on You-Tube about it. There is also a television series with a different actor playing Blade.
    My personal problems with the film are the inconsistencies with the previous films. The first film established that Blade could tell the differences between Humans & Vampires by sight, movement & smell but he shoots a Human in public. Why can humans now fight Vampires directly when they are faster & stronger. Plus, they kill Whistler again and those stupid Vampire dogs. And why are those hinged jaws so prevalent when they were an anomaly in the second film? Petty? Maybe but those things just annoyed me.

    • @3Rayfire
      @3Rayfire Год назад +4

      They could've easily resolved the vampire dog thing by having him say you made Reaper dogs.
      I'm more concerned with the fact that the original Vampire Dracula has reaper jaws. Now it makes sense if Damaskinos was just unlocking older vampire genetics that he didn't understand with his Reaper project, but that should've been spelled out.

    • @thebkg
      @thebkg Год назад +4

      They showed Drake having the Unhinged Jaw ability as well, revealing it to be an original trait that became dormant as Vampirism mutated over the centuries. Drake mentions early on that Vampires had become a weakened version of their original selves.

      @@dreamshakejunya Blade was written as a much bigger part of the script. This wouldn't have featured the Nightstalkers as heavily if Snipes had come out of his trailer when called to set.
      I certainly agree that he had cause for a grievance regarding the contract breach. But that was NOT the right way to handle it. It was unprofessional to every other actor there. Everyone on the set of Blade 3 hated Snipes after the shoot, everyone. That kinda narrows down the He Said/She Said.

    • @toddjackson3136
      @toddjackson3136 Год назад +1

      @Dream Shake Junya the hinged jaw had become a genetic anomaly by the time of Blade 2. Vampires had stopped inheriting that gene. That's why they didn't recognize the scar on the reapers for what it was until too late.

    • @thebkg
      @thebkg Год назад +1

      @Dream Shake Junya Quick reply only to your opening there... it was never His Franchise. He didn't own it. And that's likely the same attitude that he had, that he had ownership when it didn't. He was able to negotiate to get influential privileges of the script, but that's a far cry from total control, and even that only of the script. He had zero percent ownership of the production.

    Snipes had more and more issues as production went on. He was staying in character all the time, forcing people to call him Blade, he got in physical fights with the director AND with Reynolds, he tried to assume control of production (that's why he refused to open his eyes in that one scene - he WAS a producer, but he and the director clashed a lot), and generally became so problematic that he nearly ruined his acting career.
    Now for a fun fact: when Jessica Biel fires the arrow at Dracula, she was told to fire as close to the camera as she could....and she shot through the glass window and straight down the lense, and in the movie it cuts before it hits.
    The Blade trilogy paved the way for the MCU, showing to execs that comic book movies could be worth it (previous Marvel outings like Howard the Duck and the never released Fantastic Four and Nick Fury outings had left a sour taste in people's mouths)

    I loved the first two Blade movies. Watched them both several times. The original was one of the first three movies I ever bought on DVD (along with The Matrix and Dark City). I watched this one ONCE and never had the desire to go back. Now that is has been almost 2 decades, I'm sure if I ever find the time I may give it a second watch. I DO remember enjoying this much more than Morbius, though.
    Originally, Guillermo del Toro was offered to return for this film and worked on some early development, but left when he was offered the role of writing and directing Hellboy. Thus, David Goyer took over directing as well for this installment.
    There were several stories that came out a few years after the movie's release with some saying Snipes was difficult on set and others criticizing Goyer's for his inexperience in directing (he had only previously made an independent film with Snipes two years prior) and handing production. A lot of people reflect back on all the hearsay and gossip as Snipes being the "villain" in the situation, though when you look at what became of the film with Blade playing second fiddle and increasingly upstaged by his co-stars in his own film. The movie was intended to spin off Ryan Reynolds and Jessica Biel for their own series of films and effectively end Snipes' involvement entirely in a hit franchise, so I can understand why he may not have been in the best mood while making the film after having literally kickstarted both Marvel's first real movie and the modern comic book film genre in general.
    Also, Dominic Purcell, who played Dracula, would later go on to play Heat Wave in several of DC Comic's CW series from the Arrowverse (The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, etc.) for the better part of a decade.

    There were 2 endings. The one you saw was suppose to be Dracula (drake) disguised as Blade. The CGI eyes were suppose to be drake's eyes, not Blade's. I do believe that is what they were going for. The second was also Dracula disguised as Blade. But before the autopsy could start, the dead body reverted back to Dracula. This was Dracula's "final gift" to Blade (hence why I think the one you saw was suppose to he drake also, disguised as blade)

    The Tomb of Dracula is a nice reference to Blade's 1st appearance which was Tomb of Dracula #10 1973 by Marv Wolfman (creator of the 1980s Teen Titans, Cyborg, Raven, Starfire, Deathstroke, Trigon, Blackfire, the Fearsome Five, Jericho, Terra, changed Beast Boy's name to Changeling, made Dick Grayson change from Robin to Nightwing, and wrote all of the 1980s Teen Titans comics) & Gene Colin (one of the longest running artists on Daredevil ever).

    If I’m not mistaken, Trinity was meant to be the set up for a spin off with Ryan Reynolds and Jessica Biel. If I also remember correctly, Snipes had a big issue with and really didn’t like that his 3rd movie was not Blade focused but instead being used to set up something else without him which ended up never happening and also some personal issues bled through on set leading to the CGI eyes scene. The movie isn’t as terrible as people make it out to be but something there was missing. Overall the Blade trilogy is pretty solid in terms of CBM are concerned.

They provided assistance and tech support to Whistler. When Whistler dies and Blade is captured that's when they step in to rescue Blade.

      I read or heard, I think here on RUclips, that Abbigail Whistler (Jessica Biehl) was initially supposed to be a descendant of Van Helsing, but that idea was scratched because a movie called "Van Helsing" with Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale, came out around the same time, and so they dropped that concept as to not confuse the audience.

    Wesley Snipes as Blade was as iconic as Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark or Chris Evans as Steve Rogers. You simply couldn't do better casting. The actor who played the original source vampire was also in DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

    Ok, just to be clear, and I could be wrong because its been awhile since I watched this whole movie, not cut up for youtube, but Jessica Biel isn't playing Whistler's original daughter. I'm pretty sure they said in the movie that she was born later, outside of wedlock.
    And I believe that the virus to kill vampires is meant to be global, but it would obviously just take time for it to spread. Also, I believe there were 3 different endings to this movie: the one you saw in this version, another where the body on the slab at the end is Blade, but as they're about to cut into it, it reverts back to Dracula's body (his parting gift to Blade for fighting honourably), and another where it shows Hannibal King and Whistler hunting Werewolves (they were originally supposed to get a spin-off or two from this)

    Interesting that they went with the alternate ending, in both the theatrical and extended versions, Drake transformed into Blade until on the autopsy table, with the end line of “As for Drake’s final gift, let’s just say that the FBI got their body… it just wasn’t the one they counted on.” Blade still rides into the night with a voiceover about an ongoing war but doesn’t kill the two humans that were trying to find the truth, as evidenced by the brief scene of the white agent coming across Danika’s fresh ashes on the stairs in the final scenes.

    The Blade franchise was some of the most gory releases for a Marvel character, but keep in mind, Marvel Studios didn't exist until 2008 and was bought by Disney in 2009. Blade was produced by New Line Cinema, and was the only character they had the rights to release movies for. The first Marvel character I could find that had a movie release was actually Howard the Duck (which you may want to review, I guess). But Marvel's superheroes were scattered everywhere before Marvel decided to put their own studio together.
