I just want to thank you guys for this information, I've been Mac for years and only got my feet wet for a PC on your recommendation and the other video on you guys trying a PC laptop. I just couldn't justify paying over 4 grand for a new MacBook pro for the same spec windows laptop ie. 16gb ram 512gb ssd I7 processor..... bear in mind it was used and then refurbished by a IT tech.... Toshiba satellite... 3 years old, after taking these tips and using them, using this laptop has been awesome, 250gb of music onboard and for the last 3 months has been faultless on rekordbox 5.8 and serato dj pro.... working 4 nights a week. Dvs has also been faultless on either platform.... What did I pay? 600 Australian. I could buy 6 or 7 Windows laptops consecutively if each one shat itself every 6 months.... And still come out on top... Do I still use my 2011 MBP 16gb ram 256ssd? Yes, only to convert my serato music on rekordbuddy as this app is only available on IOS..... would I buy another brand new Mac? No probably not, are they good computers? Yes 100%.... but if I brought a laptop worth over 4.5g my wife would kill me 😉🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great video. I had just purchased a new Windows laptop for my DJ set and really didn't know how to set it up for DJ performance. After watching this video, I was able to apply the recommended settings thanks to Crossfader. Keep up the great job you guys are doing. It is greatly appreciated.
I normally use a Game Booster App, the filosofy it's almost Tha same, It will do all those adjustments to the specific app (in this case Recordbox). But it's good to do it also manually and be able to check one by one. The close lid option its an amazing idea. Also, I use Ccleaner to keep my PC's log clean, delete all junk, and also choose which software it will run or not automatically during the startup. I turn off all notifications also to avoid any undesirable visual interference during I'm mixing.

Just did a gig and Serato froze up twice. Because the crowd was so awesome and forgiving they kept the vibe going while I switched to Mixxx and a 3/8" jack, and did not use my controller. Successfully finished out the show. These tips help immensely, especially the Serato processor tip. Thank you!
Thank you so much mate! Never had any problems in 10 years with Serato controllers but just bought a Denon MCX8000 and had lots of random dropouts. Ever since I did those optimization, it runs flawlessly! I am so stoked!!

Yes, this is good, i did all this years ago and believe me that is one of the reasons i dont have any issues with serato and playing at my gigs . It does help so do it
Excellent tips, I've been using most of these settings on a 9 year old laptop with a 2.5 GHz dual core processor and it still manages to run Traktor 3 flawlessly. Albeit loading the software takes some time. The more tech savvy user should get a clean windows installation from Microsoft and get only the necessary drivers from their laptop manufacturer website. In that way you can obtain the cleanest possible install.
I have A 10 year old Asus and also run traktor 3 on windows 10. I’ve had problems though when I load two tracks it redlines and eventually crashes within 5 mins and I am trying to work through it now. I have 1.5 ghz, and 6 gb of ram. Do you have any suggestions. I am not as savvy but I read through articles and RUclips videos and follow step by step
@@Goodboy-hc1fi I would try to use the 2.6.8 version. I think 1.5 GHz is a bit too low for traktor 3 I suppose. I'm also using Windows 7 on that laptop, because it's less demanding.

Hope this will solve my issue with drifting/analyzing. ive been on this for 3-4 days and many seem to have this issue but i have not yet seen a united solution for this.. Now i put my hope to that this settings will fix my issue.
if you get frequent cpu spikes in traktor pro, disable the wireless network card in device manager. The load meter isn't how much load traktor is putting on the cpu but how much bandwidth is available for the software, and wireless adaptor cards really interfere, just turning of wifi doesn't make any difference.obviously don't have any downloads running, and if you are on windows 10 open services and stop windows update stone cold dead and set to disabled as it will turn your performance into a complete Trainwreck without warning.

This is a great video - thank you! I've recently moved from an old i7 laptop to a new Ryzen 7 4700U (both Windows 10), I'm also using the Pioneer XZ. I've noticed a few audio glitches during mixes and they also appear on the recording. I never had this problem with my old i7 laptop and it's been really annoying me as I thought moving over to a Ryzen 7 would be seamless and that DJ software wouldn't really challenge the processer. I also use FL Studio and have noticed delays with previewing audio samples too. I'm hoping that step one in this video will have an impact on these things, sounds like it definitely should, makes sense to me! Thanks again!
AMD processors aren't officially supported by any major DJ software at the moment sadly! I've heard of many people being just fine though, maybe try increasing your buffer sizes and check your audio stability with LatencyMOD. Hope this helps and you get sorted out soon!
Hey try this: open a FL Studio proyect that you know it’s not running good. Then go to power management and change High Performance to BALANCED. If this works means that you are experimenting a Windows bug that doesn’t allow ryzen cores to be optimally managed. Try updating your BIOS firmware and windows updates.
I dont understand tip 5. Adjust for best performance of 'Background services'? I only run Serato. So what would be running in the background? Or am I missing something?

As a Win user as well, I have a laptop dedicated to DJing. I run my music off a usb that i then flow into iTunes. So I added iTunes & Serato in my startup folder, and I dont even have to click to open them. Im lazy, i know.

So I just did all of these configurations. My laptop has the following specs Core i7 16gb of RAM 500gb SSD Whenever I use Serato DJ I can only use the application for about 15-23 minutes before it freezes up on me. I have updated Serato to the current version today and the previous version would still crash on me. Can anybody help me out?
Another tip is to go into your power options and clicking on "choose what the power buttons do" and changing it to "nothing"... Cos there's nothing worse than accidentally pressing your power button during a set and having your laptop switch off lol. I'm speaking from experience *cringe*
I remember 3 buttons that came in handy: ctrl, alt & del. I never got why they didn't make one command button for it since I had to use them daily 😁 I honestly don't know which OS would be best, they all suck. For now I use 2 Huawei smartphones for dj-ing, they run with the smaller NI interfaces. Perfect sound, hasslefree, cheapish. A bit too simple but it works.
Jeremiah Roberts every PC is different and unfortunately I deleted everything of this machine without making a note of what was there. I will look into doing this on Monday thought. In short you can rid the PC of all bloatware, unnecessary games, applications you don’t use or want, manufacturers help desk software ect
The best thing you can do is backup all your 'stuff' and make a note of what the most important programs you are using now are, your preferred Browser add-ons ect and just do a clean fresh Windows install. Believe me when i say this, no defragging, registry cleaners, manual unistall of programs you are not using will do half as much to increase you systems performance and responsiveness as a Clean Windows install will. Also for a cheap and huge bump in responsiveness and feel drop in a basic 120GB SSD drive which will be plenty for r a clean Windows instal and a few main programs if your storing your Music Library on an external drive. If you want to keep all your Music on you Laptops SSD go for a 500GB or larger ect though your looking at a much larger cost than £20 for a 120GB SSD ect.

Don't do it! If you implement the power plan as prescribed, it will A -affect your sound and B - cause your pc to freeze! I did as instructed and I experienced both issues. This was the 1st time EVER my lappy froze at a gig. I put the original settings back and guess what... ?
Tha Rukkus ! I’m sorry you’ve experienced issues but all these tips are well recommended for audio related tasks. Don’t just take our word for it, Serato and other software manufacturers all recommend performing these changes too. It worth checking crash logs to see why exactly you had an issue, feel free to email us for further help.

USB Option was good to mention. Forget High Performance mode. Enable Ultimate Performance mode via the Command Prompt instead.

Audio is a backround service, so it gets priority. :)

Sounds like your PC might be struggling with the waveform drawing. You can change the waveform drawing rate in the preferences under view!

Check your Serato library for corrupt music files, if the issue persists I'd recommend getting in touch with Serato's tech support

Tha Rukkus ! I’m sorry you’ve experienced issues but all these tips are well recommended for audio related tasks. Don’t just take our word for it, Serato and other software manufacturers all recommend performing these changes too. It worth checking crash logs to see why exactly you had an issue, feel free to email us for further help.
