Since she's no longer human, I'd say no. Had she been killed when she could still flipflop between human and snake, I'd say yes. But at the time she was killed, she hadn't been a human for years and years. And most likely most of her life as a human as well as her human thought process and feelings would be gone. Especially since the brain is wired in such a way that we forget how things that is no more just becomes memories that can't be felt or remembered clearly.

Wish nagini had a bigger storyline or her own movie. I find her character really fascinating. A human girl born with a blood curse. It would be cool to see more of her side of the story more before becoming a snake permanently. I think she's a really misunderstood individual kind of like the story of medusa the gorgon a victim of a tragic fate.

mine is that she got stuck being a snake ending up as Tom Riddles pet , he could talk to snake so make sense. she may have been the first or the last before harry potter to be a horcrux or maybe or voldemort finds her in human form , used imperius curse on her.. and then she got stuck to being a snake and she couldnt leave voldemort until he or she died.
Nagini comes from a hindi word “nagin”...it means a cobra... “naag” is the male. Compared to that “ichadhaari naagin” means a woman who can turn into a cobra on will. She can live for centuries. I think that is where the idea of nagini came from.
But the "ichadhaari" is also cursed, quite similar to a maledictus however only at night she will change unwillingly whereas for the rest of the period a humanoid who has will to change one into

But i get your point, the name Nagini is originated in Hindi and a part of Hindi mythology.
There are other languages where word 'snake' is similar to 'nagini'. For example Sankrit and Malayalam word for snake is 'nagam'. It's not just Hindi.
However I was expecting a brown woman as Nagini instead of an Indonesian due to origin of the name.
I think Nagini is the key to Voldemort's obsession. I believe her time in the magical world and experience with Grindelwald made her an essential part of his Journey to seek power and immortality.

I feel really, really bad for Nagini after seeing Crimes of Gindelwald. She definitely had a good heart and seemed like a very kind person... and that's despite living a tough life in the circus where she appeared to take a lot of abuse. I definitely think Tom charmed her as he did so many others, especially other women (maybe even falsely claiming to love her). That or he promised a cure for her curse or something. I feel so bad for her that thinking about her decapitation in Deathly Hallows just got a whole lot more upsetting.

Well to expand on my opinion, what I meant to say was in the DH part 1 I was under the impression that she had never been human beforehand watching how she shuffled along and how shaky her hands were. Then in The crimes of Grindelwald she's a person. Maybe that's what happens when you've been slithering around for 50+ years, but surely she would have an idea of how to walk without looking awkward. I always thought she was wearing bethelda bagshot probably with some of Voldemorts help. Maybe the reason the movements were shaky at best was cause of rigamortis from the body sitting a little too long. If I remember correctly there was blood pooling shown on her face and etc which is usually connected with rigamortis which is also one of the very first stages of the body rotting. I think filling up with gas is after that.

If I recalled correctly. At Deathly Hallows Part 1, when Hermoine and Harry was in the place where he was born and almost got killed. They encountered Nagini inside an old house. The snake form and the lady form. Being an old woman and turning again into a snake. I hink she can still return to human form until the end of the series.

Great video! Consider this though: Nagini was a horcrux. I believe The part of Voldemort's soul inside of her possessed her and made her evil, just like the locket was influencing the trio, causing them to fight etc. Harry was also a Horcrux, but I believe he survives this effect to an extent because of the protection of his mother's charm. Remember that Nagini is still on the good side in 1920's. So, consider how much she cares for Creedence and consider Rowling's use of sacrifice throughout the series. I don't think it crazy to then consider that Nagini would sacrifice herself to protect creedence. Maybe the blood curse then acts as a buffer, keeping her from dying, but permanently transforming her into a snake? There is also this to consider: does a maledictus retain their consciousness as human beings when they permanently revert to their animal form or do they lose it and simply become like the animal? If that's the case, then the part of Voldemort's soul would be the thing that gives her sentience or intelligence. I don't think she was Voldemort's friend, she was an asset and a liability all at once because you don't put your soul inside a living being, because it is not safe. I believe the only reason Voldemort seemed to care for her was because of the part of himself inside her. In half blood prince Tom, as a child in the orphanage tells Dumbledore he can talk to snakes: "they find me... Whisper things..." so it would also be wise to consider that Nagini found Voldemort. I don't know... Just some thoughts :)
This is a great thought, but it is said that the only way a horcrux can be made is by putting your soul into that object by murdering someone who is close the that object. For example voldemort killed Hepzibah Smith to put his soul into hufflepuffs cup

A maledictus might not be immortal. Remember, Vildemort have her part of his soul. That might have extended her life or even made her immortal. But she would be a special case among maledictus, not the rule.

My theory is very similar to yours, but I feel Nagini wasn’t evil...until she became a Horcrux. Remember how Voldemort was able to possess Harry (in Order of the Phoenix) and cause Harry to say and feel evil things? Perhaps having a part of Voldemort’s soul within her...corrupted any good that was left within her.
The nagas are a serpant race in ancient indian myth. They have an underground world with all the treasure and with magical abilities, skill of seduction and sensual arts. The nagas are able to shape shift and arent snakes bit thats thier other form but can transform into beautiful women. This is a legend existing in india since over 5000 yrs. Maybe jk rowling included indian myth in the harry potter series in relation to snakes as theres tons of legends surrounding the nagas here and maybe it inspired nagini specially since harry potter revolves around snakes aka slytherin and all the other snakes involved. The main thing to note about snakes is masters of disguise, seductive, keepers of secret knowledge and mysticism, ability to transform and shift between humans and snake forms and keepers and guarders of treasure. A small sect of them are highly spritual in nature. Snake people are forced to stay pure and not commit infidelity or else they will be punished by the other snake creatures and the ones who deliver karma. Such is thiet nature and perdicament in indian myth. Hope if gives a background into the nature of snake creatures

Watching this makes me sad. I know that the final time that she changes will be to save someone, probably Credence and she will know that it is the last time. That is what will turn her for good against the ministry and humans.
I saw a interview that Claudia Kim did after crimes of Grindelwald. She said that people only knew her as a horcrux. I took that to mean that she wasn't a bad person or snake before Voldemort came along. Merope and her meeting at a circus makes perfect sense. Maybe she ask Nagini to keep an eye on him of sorts as a favor to her. Morope speaking Parseltongue made them close.

unfortunately no, the lady nagini turned into is bathilda bagshot. The thing is, bathilda bagshot died days before that, but nagini basically possessed the body, pretending to be bathilda bagshot, however all along it was nagini controlling the dead body. Hence why bathilda never spoke a word, and when she did, it was in parsletounge.
About the trust between Voldemort and Nagini. Theres a scene where he speaks Parsel Tounge and he keeps using group words like 'we' 'us' and 'our'. Id say Nagini is like the one thing in the whole world Voldemort cherishes other than himself.
After watching this video, I never really thought about why Nagini would end up as a snake forever. Kinda like , for a person who had the ability to look cock-eyed but could still change their eyes back to normal but then one day they find out, to their horror, that their eyes stayed cock-eyed and they couldn't fix them back to their original appearance without surgery. I mean, if you had the ability to change/morph yourself into an animal but you also knew that there would come a day when you would change AND NOT BE ABLE TO CHANGE BACK into human form - why wouldn't you just stay human to make sure that day would never come? I guess will find out when the next movies come out.

Quick question you said about snake Nagini being able to only understand Riddle/ Voldemort but just going by the books even before knowing she was a maladictus (or what that was) I believe she could understand them all for example at the Death Eaters meeting! I may be wrong but it would make more sense that she can understand English as she was a human than being a pet who understands English (as all pets know some words)!

Nagini really looks like a reticulated python, which has nothing to do with a viper. It struck me as soon as I first saw her. The shape of the head and eyes are definitely a python's, then there's the pattern of her scales that make me believe she's a reticulated one specifically.
I happen to own pet snakes for 20 years, since I was 8 years old.
My reticulated python' s name is Nagini.

Knowing her past now, I hate that Voldemort made her into a horcrux. If that never happened, Harry could have saved her and showed her true friendship and maybe convinced her to change sides, even though he would be the only one who could speak to her, he could atleast translate so she could talk to others, I'm sure Hogwarts could give her some type of security job lol.

@@smooveayy Maybe but I was also thinking about this and remembering another theory I saw (think it was SuperCarlinBrothers) that Luna is a maladictus but that Dumbledore may have worked out a cure so maybe after the battle of Hogwarts Harry could have got to know Nagini and then cured her which would have been amazing to see! I think he promised her that when he came back to full body and power, he would break that blood curse and make her HUMAN again. He probably told her that once he had THAT WAND, he would be the most powerful wizard on earth. That his power would enable him to reverse curse, spell or potion. Which is probably true. He probably told a lot of full blood wizards that he do something for them if they stood by his side in battle.

I think you have a good theory of what happened that day in the cave with the other orphans. Tom mentioned in his first interaction with Dumbledore that he could make animals harm others (Or something of that nature), and that could be the experience he was speaking from. Good video!
You’re forgetting that she’s forced to turn into a snake every night but can change at will with that exception of course. And when the curse takes over fully. Buts she’s a decent mix of both an animagi and a werewolf.
Have you seen the Rowling Omnibus - - there is a scene of Rowling sitting around with all of her notes and she explains how she has created a lot of back-story which may never see the light of day in a novel but she needs to do it as it fleshes out a character for her…. Truly amazing

hey, but in Harry Potter the deathly Hallows nagini transforms from a old lady to snake in front of harry and at the time she is around 90 years of age so did Voldemort find a cure but he took that long that nagini then preferred her snake form as her age lines up with that scene as an old lady.
What if Dumbledore discovered Voldemort's horcruxes and destroyed them, before he was reborn in the graveyard.
At least the inanimate horcruxes. Nagini became a horecrux around gof to ootp roughly, and Dumbledore didn't realize Harry was a horecrux right away. Imagine if Regulas Black came to Dumbledore and told him what he (Black) learned about Voldemort having horcruxes and if Slughorn confessing to have taught Riddle about horcruxes to Dumbledore and Albus pieced it together.

It is spelled out pretty specifically that he knew in Snape's memories and the scene between Harry and Dumbledore at 'King's Cross'. If you then read the books back you realize that pretty much everything Dumbledore did was to ensure Harry's survival after the destruction of the Horcrux inside of him.

I think Voldermert reminded her of Credence, especially if they met when he was younger. Plus, Voldemort was really good at occlumency, so he could see clearly her past and used that to his advantage
I love Nagini to be honest, something super dark and twisted must have happened in her life towards the end fir her to become so evil later on in her life.

She doesn’t necessarily become immortal. Once she becomes a Horcrux, part of Voldemort lives inside of her. So even if she died, Voldemort would live on in the body of the snake - since he is considerably younger.
So yeah who’s to say that she hadn’t already died by the Deathly Hallows, or that she was still alive because of the part of Voldemort in her?

It has beenade clear in the books. Any magically undoable damage to the horcrux mean the horcrux is destroyed.. in this case nagini's very life ending means end of the horcrux..the part soul depends on the horcrux for its survival
I never had a favorite Harry Potter character... I loved them all for the most part but the story and the way it all came together is what won me over... And than he said "Nagini" and my world changed...
Your theory is interesting. I've thought there might even be two Naginis. One in Circus Arcanus and the other following Voldemort.
It makes strong sense that Voldemort speaking Parseltougue would win her over. Nagini is not strictly immortal as she was capable of dying. Neville Longbottom slew her with the Sword of Gryffindor.
If Astoria is a Maladictus then what animal for did she take and why did she keep transforming. Why did Nagini keep transforming knowing one day she would not be able to come back? Is the final transformation involuntary?

That was Nagini disguised as Bathilda Bagshot. She had killed the old lady and taken her form. That was why there were all the blowflys in the sequence. Hermione found the body and that is what alerted her and why she called out to Harry.

My theory is that what influences the age of the forever transformation is the amount of time transformed or time spent as an animal
