I honestly love Jimmy and Mike’s relationship. They aren’t friends, their personalities don’t match, they don’t even really “like” each other all that much. But, each recognizes and respects the other’s talents enough to have a reliable partnership for many years.

Problem is that Mike eventually lost all respect for Jimmy/Saul and saw him as a purely self-interested weasel devoid of all morality. Which is why he was willing to beat him up at the drop of a hat in BB. If he had respected Jimmy, he would have never used a second lawyer (the one who eventually ratted Mike out and got stabbed in prison), but he just didn't trust him.

It doesn't, but from my understanding of US law it, is battery. Assault means intent to injure and/or making someone scared for their safety. Battery refers to unwanted or uncomfortable physical contact. By that definition, knowingly spilling coffee on someone is roughly on the same bar as spitting on them. It's unlikely to get called up especially if no one knows it was on purpose, but you know.

The young one strongly suspects Mike and gets really angry, because he's an 100% clean idealist who would want to arrest Mike, understandable motive or not. The old one is of a stance where he pretty much knows Mike did it, but wants to let it go, because two corrup cops killed his son and he killed them, because there was no other recourse.
