i did something like this with Mahi Mahi in the gulf. Except it was three of us. Didn;t chum but when we cam across a school of them you literally just toss your hook in and bam! Then we would have guy in middle of boat and he would unhook. We would catch like 50-100 and sell them to restaurants on our way back to New Orleans. Those were good times. 19ft boat 30 miles into the gulf or until we hit blue water. Sometimes less sometimes a bit more.
Well these guys dont care if they're extinct so they dont make any regulations but in the United states we actually care about the wildlife and if you buy a fishing license the money helps to support fishing regulations. I'm a catch and release fisherman in Florida and I hate that the rules and regulations isn't a international priority

@@jeremyolson4280 it's a jig, and yeah it's a hook but not like any one you have probably seen. it's just a tapering spike at a 45 degree angle instead of looping back on itself like most hooks. The jig looks like a squid or bait fish, or is a feather jig. It's very heavy and as soon as you let pressure off the weight of the jig pulls down, and the hook falls right out (if it doesn't the fish shakes it's head and it comes out.) I have caught an albacore on one of those poles once, it's hard! Look up fishing from the racks if you want to see some cool old short films about it.
@@jeremyolson4280 many times the fish even throws the jig by shaking it's head in mid air! There is also a technique to flipping the fish in a certain way to get the hook out the quickest. Best 2 guys in the middle and everyone else gets positioned by skill level.

It's a jig that is plastic and looks like a squid or something.. but yeah when they are whipped up like that they almost would take a empty hook.
I don't think it's a hook. I think the tuna just hangs on until it's too late. How would yanking it on deck pull out the hook?
