Maplestory was a awesome part of my childhood. I started playing when i was 10. Although it's been a long time since ive played, i remember how awesome the community was and i remember the friends i had. Back then it didn't matter who had the best items and if you were lvl 70 you were considered to be pro. We would go to mushmom at our chance to get the rare and fathomed illbies, only to die within a few seconds. When you first joined you would go through the tutorial, but then they changed it later when your character wears this seedling suit and go through this assembly line to learn the game. I also remember the christmas events, drop games in henesys, the jumping chair trick, and Kpq. The years before the pirate class came out were the golden years after Aran came out the game started to go downhill and with BigBang it just was never the same. now its all about how godly your items are or how much you can hit. To all the old maplers, Thank you for making this such an awesome game to play and i hope that this game grew up with you as much as it did for me. I haven't played in 6 years and now im 20.
This makes me so sadddddd, i miss the old maple so much. I used to be so obsessed with it. Then big bang happened and changed everything I ever knew about Maple Story. Now it feels like it's all about grinding and NX Cash :( They should re-make the old one and call it "Maple Story Classic" for all of us feeling nostalgic
Hey guys! I created a FB page so I can update / connect with you all better :D There's not much on it right now LOL but I'll definitely post more as time goes on haha =) facebook.com/melindatse
Derek!! HII LOL, I've been subscribed to you for years, but never actively engaged with you ^__^" I recently watched your update video & thought it was so cool how you majored in film / animation haha. Your Maple animations were definitely one of the best in the Maple RUclips community back then xD I'm looking forward to updates on your graduation film! The concept of AEON is really neat :3
Melinda Tse Aye, quick reply. :D ... Actually, you popped up in my related videos and I remembered your name since not as many people liked the AEON page from my update video :P. So TY for that and the years of support! Your channel is sweet, cool that you keep up with content :P
Ohh aww, no problem!! ='D Haha thank you, I only recently started to post more content ^__^" Like you, I started out with MapleStory animations (altho not as talented as you haha ;P) & am currently pursuing my BA in Media Production xD If there's ever a chance in the future, it'd be really cool to do an interview with you! =) I have this idea in the back of my mind where I want to create a series interviewing different Maple animators & talk about what they're up to now haha. Yours would definitely be an interesting story to share!
anybody sometimes log back in to maple some times just to see? Miss the old times.....maybe it was funner when i was younger or maybe it changed too much :(
Just hijacking the comment here but if anyone wants to re-visit old maple, google "Maple Royals". It's a v62 private server specifically for old maple.
Maplestory used to be so fun! Now its all different. All in all it gave us many memorable memories of meeting people, doing PQs, and just hanging out with friends.
still glad i've at least experienced the good old times of maple :') i miss it like crazy though.. only if that exact version came out again i would play.. it would even be good up to the 2009 ver...
haruislove e There's a pretty nice private server called Nightsoul Maplestory that has a pretty small community, but it's been going since 2007 and still uses that version
Maplestory used to b my life man. All my rl friends back in elementary school played that damn game. I even liked this girl irl that played MS. We played together in KPQ. Sometimes we'd just go to Hene and chill there.
i was a beta tester for maplestory, i remember balrog was the ultimate boss back in the day, and perion channel 1 was our market, it was fun and people knew each other, nowadays its all about forking cash for stupid cubes.
There's no more exploration in this game anymore. It pretty much teleports you to all the good training spots, so the game pretty much plays as follows: -teleport to training spot -level up 10 times (which takes like an hour) -teleport to next training spot -rinse and repeat Also, money isn't even a necessity anymore. The game literally gives you equipment and potions often enough that you would never have to go out of your way to actually buy something yourself. It's like they stripped away everything that made maplestory good and centered the game around leveling up super fast and being completely overpowered with as little effort as possible, which isn't nearly as satisfying as the slower pacing the game used to have.
What you guys talking about, Getting actually strong is still a thing, Think you're high and mighty with your 100k per Tick damage? the Top players deal 10 Mill per Tick ( maybe higher). What's stopping you from exploring, all the sexy looking places are still there, there is your exploring!
For anyone that wants to experience old MS again, there's a popular v0.62 private server called MapleRoyals. I started about a month ago and it's way more fun compared to GMS, in my opinion. It's not as difficult to level as back then because there's 4x exp and 2x drop, always! And when you vote, you get free NX! You guys should check it out! Again, this is only for people who want to experience old maple.
I had so much fun playing Maplestory during my middle school years, crazy how fast 9 years has passed since then. Then life hits you in the face, college kicks you in the ass and responsibility spits in your face.
Damn, hit me hard. I remember when I was 9-years-old and would stay up on a school night to do KPQ because there was a double XP event and everyone grinded inside it and the people outside would rage. Also one time in EMS there was this gachapon event where every new character would get a ticket and there was so many people at the starting area then 48 hours later Nexon patched it or limited it to 1 per account.
THEY RUINED MAPLESTORY. I miss the old Maplestory where you could make trains of noobs with dropping mesos, a Zakum required 30+ minutes to complete, the market being full with all the @@@@ signs, the roofs and spots where people couldn't go to unless you had teleport, haste/dash boost or the jump skill, THE OLD MUSIC, roleplaying and the spam of emoticons ;_; everything is too easy now with all the new damage buffs/patches etc. ;_;
maplestory was more fun when the community was involved. I never was into the grinding. I used to love doing Ludi PQ so much that i would kill myself at level 50 so i can continue doing it. I miss the old community that used to play this game in Scania. Subbed to your channel, hope to see more of your videos =)
I remember when on the ship to orbis (?) i think it was orbis there were those 2 balrogs and everyone hid from them :D good times. Oh and when you needed alot of people to beat zakum.
+Dragoon Z Zakum was impossible to kill back then when you were lvl 50 now ... you can solo it in lvl 50 and Mushmom was a much harder boss but now you can solo her at lvl 10 the same thing with Mano i miss it so bad back then i loved maplestory now i like it but now its all about grinding
I'm glad there are people like you still mapling. I started in '06 and have taken many breaks since then. Even though I haven't played in a long while, I'll always go back to try the new updates.
theses are the reasons why i like old maplestory more reason 1 - people are much friendly and they're willing to help you if you're new to ms reason 2 - the old of leveling system was slow but more exciting, i remember reaching to level 70 was quite a big deal, unlike now people can easily reach to level 100 in few days. reason 3 - free market reason 4 - old style party quest ( surfing , auto clicks, fake afk etc) reason 5 - maze pq and guild pq best pq of all time reason 6 - nx item was not common back then reason 7 - 500k was alot of back then reason 8 - amoria beauty and a beast hair coupon request reason 9 - helping low level friend train in heneyes ground reason 10- i met alot of friendly people on maplestory Bascially everything back then was less complex and simple, people don't care about their level and they go on maple everyday just to talk to their friends. Things like tobis ,esther shield we used to cherish back then were priceless to us, now they don't worth alot it. Aside from that i think you did pretty good job in front of the camera, i cant stop squeezing with arms when i am talking in front of the camera.
heiboi kyu here's another 10 you can add to your list: reason 11 - other stats besides damage mattered (remember when people scrolled for defense on shields and speed and jump on shoes? lol. now these stats are useless because of formula adjustment and other changes) reason 12 - damage gap wasn't too high (no potential, enhancements, godly stuff like sweetwater and fafnirs and all that nonsense) reason 13 - remember when end game equipment was actually freely tradeable? lol reason 14 - no pay to win reason 15 - maps were vast and orderly reason 16 - most classes didn't have max speed and a flash jump, getting haste from a sin was so cool reason 17 - very few full map attacks, it actually felt challenging to kill stuff reason 18 - much less lag compared to now reason 19 - you actually needed to travel, e.g. boat rides (felt more real, more like an adventure) reason 20 - different classes actually mattered, e.g. heal from a cleric, and PQs were more valued because of it
Hi everyone! I recently made a Patreon account to see if anyone was interested in supporting me as a creator 😊👊🏻 Check the link for more details on exclusive rewards! 🍁 Thanks for your time 💕 www.patreon.com/melindatse
i remember the time when i was on board to Orbis got killed by balrog when i'm going to the toilet T__T and the moment when i become a mage ,which hard to find mesos to even buy blue potion...and ant tunnel full of hacker F5!! and white bandana are really rare!!
yeah, I'll always spam heal at zombie lupin in 3 stage platform while looking at my friend screen as a bishop farming at ludi...and the chair are actually quite useful to heal, i waited for 10mnt to heal without potion wearing those brown wizard hat ...all those moment ..love it
oh yeah the last one, the beginner skill , which is quite useful , 3 snail, nimble feet and recover (freaking useful for beginner to heal).now..it's quite useless with all that quick lvling
Thanks for the nice throwback! It was nice to see the old maple. I have forgotten so many things from the old maple, and this video made me laugh seeing to how much maple have changed. Thank you once again!
I miss the old maplestory 😭 was a kid when i started playing maplestory and my bro and me used to fight over the comp to play it. Gonna try this in this december and hopefully my 30lvl icemage wasnt deleted hahahaha
I haven't been on in at least 4 years, but gosh I feel so old being almost 20 now, the fact that back 2006 I had Maple friends in college, and now I'm there, and some of them now have children and families, Windia Warrior forever!
Second VLOG is out! Watch here =D "What's NEW in MapleStory 2015? (For Returning Players)" ruclips.net/video/-3ZTWzgY1mE/видео.html&feature=gp-n-y&google_comment_id=z12ogpj5oxzyttsu022rjx2rrtntcfspe04
i remember playing in'08 or sth like a while back and it felt like such a genuine community, like you'd meet these friends in the heat of the moment looking for someone to partner up w for a hard quest or you'd find someone that would hold on to your stuff while you switched servers (which i remember being the biggest fucking risk of my life as a 10 yearold) and you'd get to know them and theyd be really nice people, no different than you, just people looking to take a break from reality and spend some time relaxing in another world. it sounds so cheesy but it was just such a nice and personal experience, i wish it could still be the same
Free taxis? Over in EMS, taxis still aren't free, and beginners still get 90% off. But what I really remember is the ship fees... AND HENESYS HUNTING GROUND!!!
This video brought back so many memories for me. I feel like maplestory used to be a lot more social, and you were given more opportunities to be social by how the game was later out. Like when you took the ship to orbis, everyone on the ship would interact with each other a lot more because we had a while before we would reach orbis.
Mannnnnn, this brought back so many memories LOL. Thanks for bringing back the nostalgia. Yeah, rip old Maple after that shitty Big Bang patch :/ so meh might as well just play P.Servs. At least FM / Hene is still packed in those private servers. Maple used to be an adventure, now it's so easy to level and get around. Ggwp.
Khusuke ahha np, glad you could relate =D! and yeah maple was definitely an adventure before LOL took so long to get from place to place (if we were too poor for taxis xD)
WOW! You just took me to memory lane with this video. i remember being in high school i used to play this game during typing class, while the teacher would be on her computer talking to her boyfriend lol. Man just turned 26 and boy does time fly.
Wow, so nostalgic =] This brings back so many memories, trying to get to the right drain pipe while waiting to get into kerning PQ (which was the only PQ back then), dying a lot while exploring deep into the ant tunnel, walking around and finding a hidden street which turned to be a good training spot, and how can you forget the jumping quests in the subway and sleepywood?? Things were certainly much harder back then, but somehow it was much more fun and rewarding
i hate how people say its p2w when paying is optional, grinding has been around since the start of the game, it was hard to get to level 100 in 06 maple (when there was like nothing past that tell like 2009 i think) now its easy to get to level 100, but on the brim of impossible to get 250
royalrangew8 its not pay to play, do you need to pay to play the game, no do you need to pay for lvl 250 armour no do you need to pay to make a character (on one condition yes, character slots but you can also get those from events) no
royalrangew8 yet you still are saying its not optional when it is, if its pay to play its you need to buy this game if its pay to win you need to pay for this game NONE of those have anything to do with optional
Hatty Hattington "Pay to win" means that although the game may be free, if you play free you're at a significant disadvantage compared to those who pay. That's been the case with Maplestory ever since the Potential system came out and instead of curbing its downsides Wizet/Nexon cashed in by expanding its effectiveness over the years. At high levels it's probably the biggest contributor to damage and it's a costly process to deal with.
You've actually reminded me of some things and the way they used to be. Being a beta player, and of course quitting for years like everyone does, then going back, it's so strange to see how much things have changed.
I miss the old maple so much. The thing i hate most about current maple is that they took out all the pride and joy of playing. Like before it was such a achievement for me to reach lvl 30 but now its like 30mins of playing and you are there already. Maple is still fun but nothing as compared to before.
aw you're bringing me back so many memories of my childhood while playing maple story :") just one day i came back to maple and everything changed, literally. i remember training so hard tryna get to lvl 100 (but gave up at 70 because it was thAT hard to level up).. now it takes me just 3 days to get to lvl 100 :( I really miss the old maplestory... (and my old friends)
I remember watching this video when you released it and now it’s 2024 which is about the same time between 2006 and 2015 haha! Could you make another update video!? Haha!
OMG thanks for this. I'm all about game innovation and upgrading, but I honestly prefer the old MS way more. Especially since now you can get to level 50 in like 2 hours, if that. Perhaps I was just a slow leveler back then, but playing for the first again recently I found it to be so easy and mindless to do so. And there are just SO many additions (items, characters, maps, monsters, etc.), that you are barely in a certain level range long enough to enjoy anything. I miss 4-world MS ;(
I started playing again about a year ago for the first time since 2009? I play in Reboot world and actually really like it. There are SO many new classes and places that I'm still trying out and exploring (I only play during school breaks so not that often). I've always liked stories so I think exploring the new storylines and quest lines is a lot of fun! I used to play for the friends (including real life friends that also played) but because I go months at a time without logging in I don't maintain friendships very well anymore lol... but it's still a lot of fun to just play and explore. It has the nostalgia aspect to it because I started playing back when I was in 4th grade and I'm halfway through college now, but because there are so many new things it doesn't get boring. Being a casual, once-in-a-while player is nice because you're not so into it that you get mad when stuff changes or something. On the contrary, I think it's fun when things change and new places and introduced. I have to say though, while I used to save up my allowance to buy cash shop items back in the day, I would never pay money on any aspect of the game now. Sorry, Nexon.
No more challenging, community is dead. The game now is much pay to win. So what are the reasons to play Maplestory now? Just move on and let it be a part of our awesome childhood :)
OMG I must've watched this 9 years ago, & RUclips decided to randomly suggest it to me again. This was pleasant to rewatch; great presentation and it serves as a great time capsule (ironically enough) of that transitory time for alla us old Maplers. I miss the good ol' days! T .T
I've played several online games but none have ever been as sociable as maplestory was 2006-2008. You'd log on and people would say hi.. the game was about having fun as much as levelling.. I can't believe KPQ and HHG1 has gone :/ and the ant tunnel! it was fun as a noob to keep going all the way right and see how far you could get! It also irritates me how easy the bosses are....Zakum used to be a milestone, yet now he can pretty much be soloed. In the old maple a balanced party also gave you the most buffs, HB from dragonknights, HS and heal/dispell from priests, haste from rogues etc... Sigh. Well at least we have the memories and the nostalgia.
Dracogodx Yep. :/ The 'pirates' on the orbis ship which only high levels could effectively kill.. there was actually a reason to be scared of them! The daring people who would go outside to see if they had spawned. xd
I remember Ayumilove, and the girl from Maple Eu that became the first level 200, i think her name started with letter 'O' :D I had a very good friend/brother there named xClanx or something similar to that :/ and i also had a guild leader named Basil :/ I miss them >.< When i quit maple, it was coz i was spending too much money into buying NX --' so i thought that habit can only be removed if i quit the game. I remember being broke in real life while being rich in game ahaha :D like there was a time when i had 900k nx and all that :/ It was good old days and it feels really nostalgic.
old days i would actually take time to level and when you finally did it felt so good, and also to finally put on those equips youve been longing to as well
Is there any good mmorpg out there where i can meet nice people? mmorpgs community novadays is just one big race to lvl up i dont like it. I never played maplestory :/
RPGVeir FFXIV so far has some of the nicest communities in gaming. The game is also very story heavy so you don't have to worry about leveling up. I only did a few extra things outside of the main story (aside from all the side quests I could manage), and I reached level 55(cap is 60) before plunging into the expansion, Heavensward. I'm not even 1/4th the way through that and I'm already level 57. Leveling is a process but it's not a chore. You can also play the whole game just as one character, and be all jobs, classes, and professions.
I know it's an 8 month old post but try Mabinogi, it literally has not changed in years and it's been around almost as long as maplestory. It's also owned by Nexon but the community on there is absolutely golden. If you decide to play join the Alexina Server :). The game also somewhat forces you to explore and get better over time, they do events every once in awhile where you can get limited time items and sell them for a lot of money to other players. It's really cool.
I remember the times when I went in Kerning PQ and kicked my whole party out so that the exp from the crocs/gators would be all for myself. Also, in Ludibrium PQ, as a Bandit I would drop money at the block golems while stealthed and my party members would try to get it and die. There also used to be a bug with the ball of fur in the Cygnus Knights' tutorial when you stand behind the 'Z' icon (which pops above it to tell you how to pick it up), and press the pick up button and you'd disconnect. I always used to drop scrolls in front of it & when people tried to take them it was funny to watch them disappear.
Thank you so much for posting this, Melinda! The last time I logged into MS was 2009 (pre-Big Bang), and I recently started playing again. It's really, really changed. I can't imagine imagine how new players assess the game's difficulty and storylines. Nowadays, MS feels like a gathering spot for a lot of players who reminiscence over the old times. The newer maps (like Golden Temple) have awesome music though. IGN: lailanoora on Galicia
Ah, nostalgia. Back in 2006 when it would take two hours to get to level 15, now it's two hours for level 100. The community back then was more open and friendly, when someone would level up the people there would stop and say 'gratz'. People in Kerning, Ludibrium or Henesys spamming for a PQ and partying up to help each other grow or sitting around the cities and just socialising, the chat bar would be full of people talking. Then there's the Free Market. Nowadays it's all so quiet, no more party quests or talking and levelling up is way too easy. I swear, the amount of effort it took for me to get to level 30 back then...
Kousuke KradiaEMS nah, by the means of the big battle on which is the better class, which does more damage, better skills etc. But then again, I'm thinking on the idea of current maple but having the basic setup on equipment enhancement from v83 or something
I forgot all about that 3rd sewer thing! I kinda miss the henesys hunting ground cause loads of people would just chill there and ks other players, great place to test out new flashy skills :P. Man, these really brings back memories...
Pre-BigBang was the best. I remember that the 1st time that I got to level 70 I went to those sewers saying that everyone was noob because I was a higher level. And It took me 11 hours to get from level 67 to 70 and then I had to waste 10 million mesos on that black rock stuff that I don't remember the name. I also loved to do the KPQ because there was a jump that only people with mounts haste could get to so people used their mounts to get there while I just used haste, now mounts are useful :c Those were good times!
So much memories from the old time! I miss the time when everyone who will just sit inside of the plane and chit chatting with each others. Nice vid btw! And you're cute! =)
No sleepywood dungeon anymore? That ruined the fun of going down there map after map. Big Bang was the end of maple. I can't go back to the crap anymore.
Maplestory baqck then was never about having the best quis, highest damage, etc people just played it for fun, now every job is OP as shit and just a spam of numbers flying on your screen. Old Maplestory would always be the best Maplestory what they have no is way to easy, everyone is way to OP, its practically dead now and it's just boring now.
Marcus Douglas Eyy it's Minato. Yeah bro I remember back in the day man when only Thieves had Flash Jump and Mages had Teleport while the other classes were forced to walk. I remember doing the Trade Wins @@@@@@ in Monster Carnival to level. People actually had to fucking talk to one another back then but now all people say to each other now is " get off my channel" or "you're weak" or some shit like that. I played on Broa and back before Big Bang every time I go to Channel 1 Free Market it becomes so laggy that my laptop crashes sometimes but now there's like 2 or 3 people there sitting on their chairs that cost a fortune.
Marcus Douglas Yeah the idea of adventure is lost since every fucking class can travel across maps in seconds. I played a bit around January 2015 but stopped and the server is practically dead. I don't even know about Scandia but I heard even Channel 1 Free Market is dead there as well.
It sucked bawlz after bb patch. I actually liked the pirates, Cygnus knights, and Aran when they just came out. I thought Aran was unique in that some skills requires combos. Cygnus Knights were alright. Night walker was ok but all the other 4 classes were da bomb. Erev was a wonderful map. Orbis ship still existed. I kinda wished they didn't nerf Neo Tokyo but they did (NeoCity). And Taipei 101 but they did (Kerning Square). I loved the pirates. Sairs and buccs were both great classes. I actually like the sairs that are out today. But I hate the current MS in general. I've always played this game just or fun. Never was competitive. This game aint pvp. I used to chill with my friends or go on an adventure myself. Now you can just teleport everywhere and the community is slowly dying. Dmg points are reaching more than seven digits per hit and it's absolutely ridiculous.
I think it was always about the damage. I remember being asked very regularly what the stats on my gear was, and I used to see people bickering about damage all the time. "Att WG?"
Omg... I used to play this more than 8 hours a day. It was more fun than hanging out with my friends in Perion (Pre-FM era) than playing tag lol. Terrific video, brought me back a lot of memories. But who here has a 4 letter IGN though? ;]
I quit because of most of the changes. Not fun anymore. I liked having to get tracks and stuff for ludi pq. Use to be so hard to get in that pq. Now you can get to lvl 100+ in a week. I remember when there wasn't even 4th job out. Good ole days.
Hunter Gill "I miss the days where everything related to leveling up was torture." This, ladies and gents, is what's known as a case of nostalgia goggles.
***** You're mistaking "difficult" for challenging. They're not the same. Leveling in the old Maplestory wasn't hard because you had to have better reflexes or put more planning into a strategy, it was hard because it took longer. You weren't rising to meet a challenge, you were just doing the same thing for longer. That's an artificial difficulty and it doesn't improve gameplay; just makes it more of a chore. Plus, I'm finding out that the current Maple grants more focus on your account overall since it's much easier to level one character. Leveling up more characters gives you bonus stats that apply to every character on the account. This gives more incentives to level up more characters and, in turn, try out more classes; which, by extension, is made easier by the faster leveling since you don't have to wait months to come into the meat of a class' skills.
Oh my goooooooood!! You're super cool for doing your first vlog about Maplestory. I recently started playing again too and I started back in 2006 just like you haha.
I don't even remember much anymore...it was so long ago, but as long as those images come back like SLEEPYWOOD and henesys and those party quests, oh man I cannot stop reminiscing. Those were some goooood times
I first started playing MS back in 2007 (I'm only 16 now lol I kinda lied about my age when i first made an account but anyways XD) but around 2013 I quit because of certain events. It used to be so much fun and exciting to see your friends do party quest. When people got married, they would randomly invite users who was just strolling by just to include them into the fun memory. Or if it was your friends, you had to remember what time and day so you could be there for them. Take pictures onto of that cake with others you spent weeks, months, years knowing. Hell I remember when MMV were so popular, people invited their friends to be in the video. Whether it was just pictures or an edited video, people used to include so many in them. It was just so friendly and fun. I just started again playing again yesterday (if any kpop fans are here, BTS had two members who played MS years ago and it made me miss the fun times here) I logged on only to find everything so empty. No was was even at the typical social places. It was all really about playing solo. No one seemed friendly. I struggled abit to figure out how things went but when i reached out to a user, they just ignored me. If this is how MS will be like forever, then I'll leave again unfortunately
I used to play this game so so so much. I quit before they even introduced Fourth job though and haven't went back. Interesting to see the changes though and great video!
Old vs. New, my thoughts (wall of text warning): Maplestory hit its high point during Big Bang, where the classes were revamped and balanced without being streamlined. These days, every class plays incredibly similar and it's not like there are party roles anymore. Rather than focusing on creating new content and maps like they did back then (Orbis and Ludi were HYPE), we keep getting new character classes. This normally wouldn't be a problem, I can ignore classes and move on with life, except they give us an incentive to level up these classes because of the link skill system. For players who want to optimize damage, that means you're going to be playing the same dungeons from 10-100+ just to get more than a dozen different characters leveled up, and it wears you out fast. More on this, because all these new classes, "revamps," and "balances," time is taken away to add more end-game content. Last time I played (early 2014), the highest level sets were 160 but were arguably worse than the Lionheart (140) sets. They increased the cap beyond 200 but have yet to actually give content for even that. 2006 Maple definitely wasn't the high point in terms of gameplay, but at least the new content and feeling of exploration was there to keep the game exciting. PQs used to actually be fun and unique, but now they're just another way of grinding (I'm looking at you, Romeo & Juliet). I've moved on to other games, because Maplestory started becoming a time sink rather than an actual game.
Damn!!! you make me reborn my childhood with those things!!! i almost cry, is the first time i see a video talking about this things, is nice to know that some people think as me, thanks for your video I Love You!!!! :'3
Oh man, I was laughing so hard on some of the new changes you've said. Ahhh, the years of hene hoeing in maya's house and hene hunting grounds.. That was the life.. Haha. I joined back about a week ago. I quit a little bit after the big bang patch due to life reasons. Notice we're on the same server. Go Windia! I'm going to go ahead and add you, so if you get a random add, it's probably me ;) Hopefully i'll see you on Maple!
Man I missed all those training grounds in Henesy and Sleepywood, they used to be a great place to chill! Melinda that was great! Keep up the good work! (:
OMG MS. I spent 4 years of my life on this game back in middle and highschool. The nostalgia T______T. My heart can't handle UGHHHASDKLFAHSF. Too many things have changed!
Fun video. I came back around the same time you did, though I went on Renegades because I assumed I couldn't handle meso inflation on the other servers. Maplestory is a lot easier, but it's still fun. Keep making good videos!
No problem! Keep making updates with your MapleStory experiences! Like what level are you now? Plus are you going to stay with the new Maple or are you going to stop once classes start again.
I miss how friendly people were back then, and they were nice enough to give you advice on how to play. Leveling took FOREVER, but that made the game exciting and kept me playing. Now, people socialize a lot less, and if I do see people socializing, I only see a few who are actually being nice (a lot of them just roleplay, which is fine). One of the biggest things I noticed is that NX things weren't as common back then, but now there a just a bunch of OP people with tons of Cash Shop items @ level 100+ and stuff. I still play MapleStory to this day, but I definitely do miss the old days :/.
wow this was such a trip down memory lane for me, thank you so much for making this i would love to go back and play for a day just for nostalgia but im on a mac now!
No problem :D !! Glad you enjoyed this! You can actually play MapleStory on a Mac :) You just have to set up windows on Bootcamp! That's what I do ^___^
I actually screamed "WHAT" at my phone while watching this. I also heard lmpq is gone. Those were the days. I loved spam clicking to get in lolol. I was beast at that! Quick money and exp, made some good friends who I still talk to this very day from that.
I really miss the old community. It's sad that some of this stuff was removed because I didn't know about any of it. This is a really low chance but in case I meet any old friends here, I used to "cosplay" as Mario with the costume and everything. My IGN was SUPERMARlO64.
I remember that I trained months to only get to lvl 25 on my warrior. But I have so much amazing memories!
Now it feels like it's all about grinding and NX Cash :(
They should re-make the old one and call it "Maple Story Classic" for all of us feeling nostalgic
yeah that's true. The sad people who cant buy nx
+nendokittychan there are private servers like MapleRoyals created for those wanting to play like the old days
I need to check this out o.o ...
+nendokittychan it WAS p2w when you were playing, now with reboot its more about challenge and mesos.
+nendokittychan I loved old maple but now its .... not the same game anymore.... my question WHY DID THEY CHANGE ONE OF THE BEST GAMES IN MY LIFE!?
Hey guys! I created a FB page so I can update / connect with you all better :D There's not much on it right now LOL but I'll definitely post more as time goes on haha =) facebook.com/melindatse
Melinda Tse hope you release more vlogs! (:
Brian Nguyen currently working on a second one :D ~
Melinda Tse What server do you play on right now?
Kyle Vue Windia haha
Melinda Tse Maplestory is getting boring now
wtf happened to this game omg
Awesome :D.
& for sure, I'm sure you'll be able to contact me easy via facebook whenever you're ready for that.
Sounds like a plan! Thanks Derek ^___^ Hope you enjoy your weekend =D!
anybody sometimes log back in to maple some times just to see? Miss the old times.....maybe it was funner when i was younger or maybe it changed too much :(
Just hijacking the comment here but if anyone wants to re-visit old maple, google "Maple Royals". It's a v62 private server specifically for old maple.
v83 had to be the best in my opinion.
¯\(ツ)/¯
Maplestory used to be so fun! Now its all different. All in all it gave us many memorable memories of meeting people, doing PQs, and just hanging out with friends.
still glad i've at least experienced the good old times of maple :')
i miss it like crazy though.. only if that exact version came out again i would play.. it would even be good up to the 2009 ver...
haruislove e There's a pretty nice private server called Nightsoul Maplestory that has a pretty small community, but it's been going since 2007 and still uses that version
haruislove e You could try MapleRoyals it's v62 and is pretty good :D
Hazitos i've never actually played private servers before. ive attempted downloading them in the past but ended up failing which idk why LOL
I still remembered Magician job advancement was lv 8...
XterioR It still is o.O
Lol anyone remember when being "dexless" was a thing?
+Sr_Platano_ LMAO yaah I had a dexless sin x)
lol same but the funding was impossible for me
+Sr_Platano_ AHHHH! That classic Sauna Robe, Maple Kandayo, Black Snowshoes, Bamboo Hat and Work Gloves look T_T
omg yes lmao. the good ol days
In MapleSEA I think the more common term was "Pure Luk" lol
I remember Tiger, Suuushi, and curryishot being the biggest thing on maple and watching all the vids made from bannedstory and all the private servers
Those are names i havent heard in a very long time :(
Josh Parziale yea then fangblade came out of no where and shit on them
Josh Parziale so true about tiger and suuushi. i remember stalking them and watching them attack monsters and being so jealous of their damage.
Maplestory used to b my life man. All my rl friends back in elementary school played that damn game. I even liked this girl irl that played MS. We played together in KPQ. Sometimes we'd just go to Hene and chill there.
ch 7 fm was so great back in those days. i used to never train. i would hang out with all my friends for hours and hours.
I miss the golden age of maplestory f4
+Ryan Hsu That is the mad face, right? My old character got deleted though :C
+Trollerman Sixtysevan Nah its the crying face
+Trollerman Sixtysevan Mad face is F5, JEEZ !... Man, I miss that game.

Check out my new vlog :D My Top 5 "fail" MapleStory moments! x) ruclips.net/video/ZQq8yDqgX14/видео.html
i was a beta tester for maplestory, i remember balrog was the ultimate boss back in the day, and perion channel 1 was our market, it was fun and people knew each other, nowadays its all about forking cash for stupid cubes.
Ah Perion being the Marketplace, now that's very oldschool, i remember those times :)
There's no more exploration in this game anymore. It pretty much teleports you to all the good training spots, so the game pretty much plays as follows:
-teleport to training spot
-level up 10 times (which takes like an hour)
-teleport to next training spot
-rinse and repeat
Also, money isn't even a necessity anymore.
+FunOrange yeah i downloaded maple again and so that (many tables were flipped that day my friend.... many tables )':
+FunOrange down load maplelegends for a pre-bigbang maple:)
+FunOrange Hey u play Maplestory too? I think u play only osu and csgo hahahahahaha XD
+FunOrange yep i agree 100%. working for things in life makes it so much more satisfying. when it's too easy its just not fun.
THEY RUINED MAPLESTORY. I miss the old Maplestory where you could make trains of noobs with dropping mesos, a Zakum required 30+ minutes to complete, the market being full with all the @@@@ signs, the roofs and spots where people couldn't go to unless you had teleport, haste/dash boost or the jump skill, THE OLD MUSIC, roleplaying and the spam of emoticons ;_; everything is too easy now with all the new damage buffs/patches etc. ;_;
Yeah it totally takes the joy out of the achievements and all of that. Plus now you can't go to the alien world anymore
maplestory was more fun when the community was involved. I never was into the grinding. I used to love doing Ludi PQ so much that i would kill myself at level 50 so i can continue doing it. I miss the old community that used to play this game in Scania. Subbed to your channel, hope to see more of your videos =)
+MrNothingButAir I remembered in 2006 it was all about grinding. You needed to grind to reach lvl 50.
MrNothingButAir if you're in a nice guild, theres still some sense of community!
I really miss the old days when Dragon Knight was a thing... Oh the memories!
Oh well I still love Maplestory to this day and always will ^.^
Akito I think Kaiser is the Dragon Knight :P
Jas Hong Nothing can replace my Dragon Knight ;-;
Especially not Kaiser >.>
:P
Akito Dark knights still have the dragon knight aura thingy
Zer0 / Aura thingy? o.o
I remember when on the ship to orbis (?) i think it was orbis there were those 2 balrogs and everyone hid from them :D good times.
Oh and when you needed alot of people to beat zakum.
Shannon Crossley 88 lmfao,i don't even know what to say.
There was a guild in Windia that was purely bowmen, and they did a 100% marksman / Bowmaster Zakum run. The number of birds in the air was incredible.
I'm glad there are people like you still mapling. I started in '06 and have taken many breaks since then. Even though I haven't played in a long while, I'll always go back to try the new updates.
theses are the reasons why i like old maplestory more
reason 1 - people are much friendly and they're willing to help you if you're new to ms
reason 2 - the old of leveling system was slow but more exciting, i remember reaching to level 70 was quite a big deal, unlike now people can easily reach to level 100 in few days.
reason 3 - free market
reason 4 - old style party quest ( surfing , auto clicks, fake afk etc)
reason 5 - maze pq and guild pq best pq of all time
reason 6 - nx item was not common back then
reason 7 - 500k was alot of back then
reason 8 - amoria beauty and a beast hair coupon request
reason 9 - helping low level friend train in heneyes ground
reason 10- i met alot of friendly people on maplestory
Bascially everything back then was less complex and simple, people don't care about their level and they go on maple everyday just to talk to their friends. Things like tobis ,esther shield we used to cherish back then were priceless to us, now they don't worth alot it.
Aside from that i think you did pretty good job in front of the camera, i cant stop squeezing with arms when i am talking in front of the camera.
heiboi kyu maplestory is way harder to level, right when you hit level 100
heiboi kyu
here's another 10 you can add to your list:
reason 11 - other stats besides damage mattered (remember when people scrolled for defense on shields and speed and jump on shoes? lol. now these stats are useless because of formula adjustment and other changes)
reason 12 - damage gap wasn't too high (no potential, enhancements, godly stuff like sweetwater and fafnirs and all that nonsense)
reason 13 - remember when end game equipment was actually freely tradeable? lol
reason 14 - no pay to win
reason 15 - maps were vast and orderly
reason 16 - most classes didn't have max speed and a flash jump, getting haste from a sin was so cool
reason 17 - very few full map attacks, it actually felt challenging to kill stuff
reason 18 - much less lag compared to now
reason 19 - you actually needed to travel, e.g. boat rides (felt more real, more like an adventure)
reason 20 - different classes actually mattered, e.g. heal from a cleric, and PQs were more valued because of it
royalrangew8
RECENT MAPLE IS NOT FUCKING P2W YOU CAN CRAFT CUBES AND THERE ARE MAPLE POINTS NOW FOR FREE ITEMS THAT ARE CASH ITEMS
Hatty Hattington being able to craft cubes only lessens the pay to win. same with the rewards system.
royalrangew8
you haven't played tell 250 then THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO CAN MAKE IT TO 250 ON EVERY FUCKING CLASS IN THE GAME
Hi everyone! I recently made a Patreon account to see if anyone was interested in supporting me as a creator 😊👊🏻 Check the link for more details on exclusive rewards! 🍁 Thanks for your time 💕 www.patreon.com/melindatse
Melinda Tse okie dokie
The original Maplestory will ALWAYS be the best to me. I used to love playing that game!
i remember the time when i was on board to Orbis got killed by balrog when i'm going to the toilet T__T and the moment when i become a mage ,which hard to find mesos to even buy blue potion...and ant tunnel full of hacker F5!! and white bandana are really rare!!
lolegaia LOLLL hahahah dkm xD and yea i rmb clerics were good cuz you didnt have to waste mesos on HP potions lmao x)
yeah, I'll always spam heal at zombie lupin in 3 stage platform while looking at my friend screen as a bishop farming at ludi...and the chair are actually quite useful to heal, i waited for 10mnt to heal without potion wearing those brown wizard hat ...all those moment ..love it
lolegaia LOL ya the +50 hp per second LMAO =')
oh yeah the last one, the beginner skill , which is quite useful , 3 snail, nimble feet and recover (freaking useful for beginner to heal).now..it's quite useless with all that quick lvling
lolegaia In this time, if you think the white bandana is rare. What would you mean the incredible pink work glove? Man, that times.
Great video!!! Miss the old Maplestory days as well.
+Timmy Khun thank you Timmy! :D
+Melinda Tse yeah u right,i was high schools back then play maple after school, now have a lot job n boss
+Melinda Tse monster carnival was so fun last time also :D and ludi pq
Watch here =D
"What's NEW in MapleStory 2015? (For Returning Players)"
ruclips.net/video/-3ZTWzgY1mE/видео.html&feature=gp-n-y&google_comment_id=z12ogpj5oxzyttsu022rjx2rrtntcfspe04
i remember playing in'08 or sth like a while back and it felt like such a genuine community, like you'd meet these friends in the heat of the moment looking for someone to partner up w for a hard quest or you'd find someone that would hold on to your stuff while you switched servers (which i remember being the biggest fucking risk of my life as a 10 yearold) and you'd get to know them and theyd be really nice people, no different than you, just people looking to take a break from reality and spend some time relaxing in another world. it sounds so cheesy but it was just such a nice and personal experience, i wish it could still be the same
I feel a nostalgic feeling right now.
=)
Wow, so nostalgic =]
This brings back so many memories, trying to get to the right drain pipe while waiting to get into kerning PQ (which was the only PQ back then), dying a lot while exploring deep into the ant tunnel, walking around and finding a hidden street which turned to be a good training spot, and how can you forget the jumping quests in the subway and sleepywood?? Things were certainly much harder back then, but somehow it was much more fun and rewarding
i hate how people say its p2w when paying is optional, grinding has been around since the start of the game, it was hard to get to level 100 in 06 maple (when there was like nothing past that tell like 2009 i think) now its easy to get to level 100, but on the brim of impossible to get 250
royalrangew8
its not pay to play, do you need to pay to play the game, no do you need to pay for lvl 250 armour no do you need to pay to make a character (on one condition yes, character slots but you can also get those from events) no
royalrangew8
yet you still are saying its not optional when it is, if its pay to play its you need to buy this game if its pay to win you need to pay for this game NONE of those have anything to do with optional
royalrangew8
pay to win means no matter what at any point you need to pay
royalrangew8
welcome to fucking youtube you dont need to say anything fully you dumbass
Maple is still fun but nothing as compared to before.
aw you're bringing me back so many memories of my childhood while playing maple story :")
just one day i came back to maple and everything changed, literally. i remember training so hard tryna get to lvl 100 (but gave up at 70 because it was thAT hard to level up).. now it takes me just 3 days to get to lvl 100 :(
I really miss the old maplestory... (and my old friends)
+Alisah Wu - The old Maple was a giant pile of shit, it has been vastly improved since ye olden days.
+OnideusMadHatter Uhh no it hasn't.
no more monster carnival from 30-51
I got S rank there with crossbowman :3
... never had a chance to show anyone thou
+darkphantasmx true
I remember watching this video when you released it and now it’s 2024 which is about the same time between 2006 and 2015 haha! Could you make another update video!? Haha!
😂😂 I was honestly thinking about making a 2024 version!
@@MelindaTseFilms Please do it! Hahaha! I'm not sure when was the last time you played MS, but I think making an update video would be pretty cool! :)
🥹❤️❤️ thank you for watching and taking the time to comment! I miss the carefree days too 🥲
I've played several online games but none have ever been as sociable as maplestory was 2006-2008.
Neal G i remember trying to balrog with a full party but failing so many times and now you can solo it in 2 min...
Dracogodx Yep. :/ The 'pirates' on the orbis ship which only high levels could effectively kill.. there was actually a reason to be scared of them! The daring people who would go outside to see if they had spawned. xd
Pointed out some good changes, I didn't remember some of them til you brought em up.
This video made me download the game again. So much nostalgia T_T
i love you for making this. Its definitely cool to share with other people the nostalgia of old maple story :D
I remember Ayumilove, and the girl from Maple Eu that became the first level 200, i think her name started with letter 'O' :D
I had a very good friend/brother there named xClanx or something similar to that :/ and i also had a guild leader named Basil :/ I miss them >.< When i quit maple, it was coz i was spending too much money into buying NX --' so i thought that habit can only be removed if i quit the game.
I remember being broke in real life while being rich in game ahaha :D like there was a time when i had 900k nx and all that :/ It was good old days and it feels really nostalgic.
+Shan Shin oh man, that is a lot of NX LOOOL & aww I hope you can reconnect with your old friends someday :)
Melinda Tse :3 I hope to get into maple again after i graduate Uni ^_^ Thank you for your well wishes
+Melinda Tse Look up maple reboot!
+Shan Shin The girl from EU that got 200 is ItzMjauz
Djens Zooi I know that one and there was other one with letter 'O' i am sure, she was level 200 Assassin .. she was the first one
Nice video! :D
Def brings back some memories... Also was't aware of that Orbis ship trick haha
I love this video remembering the old good days of maple story xD also your a good looking gal
***** happy you liked it & thanks ^^"!
Man I used to watch your maple videos when I was a kid. nice to know you are back!
Monster Carnivals was the best
old days i would actually take time to level and when you finally did it felt so good, and also to finally put on those equips youve been longing to as well
Is there any good mmorpg out there where i can meet nice people? mmorpgs community novadays is just one big race to lvl up i dont like it. I never played maplestory :/
Mabinogi/ Final fantasy online 14
No. But that's because the internet as a whole has changed. You can thank social media for that.
Lucky I never met characters like you during PQs, so despicable 🤣
A large portion of my life was spend trying to jump onto that third sewer.
IGN: lailanoora on Galicia
scareglare no problem =) ! & aw haha too bad im in windia D:
man the game has changed alot.. played back in 06 as well
KBui96 for sure hahah, we're the original maplers ;)
Melinda Tse played starting from 2007 still playing till this day c:
kyle soriano aha damn, you are one loyal mapler =) !
Cute :3! I like new Maplestory more, just hate the pay2win part :/
Kousuke KradiaEMS thanks ^^" and yeah i completely agree with you LOL
Kousuke KradiaEMS It'd be amazing without the pay2win part... But then again there'd be a bigger hierarchy between classes.
Nha not really :) try private servers! ExtaliaMS is amazing :)
Kousuke KradiaEMS nah, by the means of the big battle on which is the better class, which does more damage, better skills etc. But then again, I'm thinking on the idea of current maple but having the basic setup on equipment enhancement from v83 or something
Yeah true, night lord currently domminates every other class
I forgot all about that 3rd sewer thing! I kinda miss the henesys hunting ground cause loads of people would just chill there and ks other players, great place to test out new flashy skills :P. Man, these really brings back memories...
cc pls
Pre-BigBang was the best. I remember that the 1st time that I got to level 70 I went to those sewers saying that everyone was noob because I was a higher level. And It took me 11 hours to get from level 67 to 70 and then I had to waste 10 million mesos on that black rock stuff that I don't remember the name. I also loved to do the KPQ because there was a jump that only people with mounts haste could get to so people used their mounts to get there while I just used haste, now mounts are useful :c Those were good times!
A lot has changed over 9 years.. I like the old maplestory better..
Real nostalgic video, played maple for so many years when I was younger :p
she's actually quite beautiful..
So much memories from the old time! I miss the time when everyone who will just sit inside of the plane and chit chatting with each others. Nice vid btw! And you're cute! =)
Liang Goh thank you! :$
Melinda Tse You're welcome! Saw another vlog of yours and it was great too! I like how you express towards the F4 emoticon changes! XD
No sleepywood dungeon anymore? That ruined the fun of going down there map after map. Big Bang was the end of maple. I can't go back to the crap anymore.
Dr. Cosmo Kramer aha yeah big bang was too much of a change at once >
Love the vid! I loved old maple too, these changes will be hard to digest!!! I am downloading the game now!
Lol yeah man I remember that when you have flash jump you were a fucking beast. Funny that you mentioned broa because I played on there as well.
But who here has a 4 letter IGN though? ;]
they need to go back to the old maplestory man
I've been going through your videos bc I'm hooked on Maple again, and I love it!
Aw thank you Nathan :D !!
DiggerPat I was just stating my opinion.
its more feeling if earning it and nostalgia. Aka opinions.
***** Accomplishment feels are now located in buying damage :D Nexon I s doing this with so many of their games =/
Awesome vlog!!!!!!! first try was amazing (: definitely worked well ! keep it up !
Play MapleRoyals!!
+KrLogik i love your rapr music
ghahh
Oh my goooooooood!! You're super cool for doing your first vlog about Maplestory. I recently started playing again too and I started back in 2006 just like you haha.
Cleo Chu haha you're cool for playing maple again! =D & i definitely miss the old maple memories, but the new one does have some fun stuff too =) !
I used to play back in '07, and it brings back so many memories when I see old gameplay videos from back then. Time goes by so fast...
Thank you! It definitely changed a lot from what we used to know ^^"
Old vs. New, my thoughts (wall of text warning):
Maplestory hit its high point during Big Bang, where the classes were revamped and balanced without being streamlined.
I have been playing Maplestory since 2007 I'm still in love with the game and play it off and on
Glad to subscribed to you, although i'm an old mapler. I love the feeling of refreshment , i hope you keep making more videos in the future as well.
Man I missed all those training grounds in Henesy and Sleepywood, they used to be a great place to chill!
Melinda that was great! Keep up the good work! (:
***** Haha gts, thanks Marina! =D
***** The hunting grounds still exist, they're just moved and not as useful. :(
Robert Edwards thank you Robert =) !
That's what I do ^___^
All true. I've been playing on and off since 2007, and I'm always so surprised at what's changed when I log back in.
Thank you for this video
I actually screamed "WHAT" at my phone while watching this. I also heard lmpq is gone. Those were the days. I loved spam clicking to get in lolol. I was beast at that! Quick money and exp, made some good friends who I still talk to this very day from that.
I really miss the old community. It's sad that some of this stuff was removed because I didn't know about any of it. This is a really low chance but in case I meet any old friends here, I used to "cosplay" as Mario with the costume and everything. My IGN was SUPERMARlO64.
