How to reset Windows 10 if it's not starting up

- If Windows 10 won't start up properly, one way to fix it is to reset Windows.
Resetting Windows involves putting the computer back to 'new', and is also called a factory reset, or reinstalling Windows.
When you reset Windows 10, you get to decide whether you want to keep your files, or remove them. However, your programs and settings, and possibly your locally stored emails, will be erased when you reset Windows 10.
In this video, I show you two methods to reset Windows 10 on a computer that won't start up.

WOW, thank goodness I found your site. I'm a 71-year-old male, with very little computer skills and after following your HOW TO RESET WINDOWS 10, I am so impressed. I somehow deleted Windows 10 while coping files to a HD and all I could see was $$$$$ flying out the door. Without your guidance I would still be looking at a black screen. I'm actually trying this with win7 so I don't have to reset my files too but if it doesn't work it's ok, I did back them up, and then maybe I try installing win10 finally. anyway it's the only video I found where it's not mandatory to delete your old files, thank you again for making such an organized and clear video

Thank you so much for the help. I knew this was what I had to do, but I was a little nervous about doing it AND possibly losing my files. Your step by step instructions really helped. I'm back up and running and all files were right where you said they would be. In some cases steps like entering the Windows Home or Professional version were not asked, plus the screen where you have to by pass the product key was not requested as well. I just figured newer versions of this task had been streamlined. In one case the install challenged the largest partition I had selected based on your recommendation. I thought nope, I'm sticking with Dave's instructions because you got me this far. Many thanks again, your videos are brilliant and sincerely appreciated. @@noic7991 ....with the "boot from usb" option that i used to re-install windows, there was no need for me to enter a windows key.......so i didn't have to buy a new key. 👍

@@adnansheikh8252 if I remember correctly, (sorry it was awhile ago) I did try but it didnt work because I needed to key in a bitlocker recovery key but I had no idea what that was and couldnt find it so I had to opt for the 2nd option

Make sure the USB has nothing on it has to be wiped
It's because it deletes all files
@Icer my USB only has Windows 10 OS on it that I downloaded from their page and I'm still getting the "missing operatV4 . 5system"

Everything went as smooth as baby's bottom . I did everything you said for 2nd scenario up to 7.50 and then it never installed.The thing said to go into BIOS settings which i have done.I'm stuck back to the blue screen where i was before.
I know for sure that my C Drive has 400 Gigabits free space....what is the problem????Never mind I found the problem-many things were disabled and after I found my C drive and enabled it then saved it.....it's working now! Guys, Dimitris is right. No need to bother on the resetting. Just create that Windows 10 data for USB and follow the steps. I had mine fixed earlier.Now my laptop's working perfectly!😍

You can find an option for factory image restore....this also helps you back up your files (I am not a professional this is something I did for my dell.laptop )
