the motion capture is really good... if you look at 3:40 you can see Olaf do a cymbal grab while playing!!! this is a really nice touch that shows the detail of the motion capture. im super impressed by this performance live or prerecorded. SO cool.
are you sure that all of them are mocapped? cause theres such a difference in quality between the singers and the background ones
@@polarzxo1530 I want to believe it is but as I mentioned it could just be pre recorded. Either way I’m not sure how you could get an animator to do all the nuance of an actual player. Seated subjects are also easier to capture. Most of the backing characters are stationary as well. There’s lots to look at in this performance and I hope they show a behind the scenes!! That would help a lot in understanding it all.

The behind the scenes video shows the piano, and drums played their actual instruments.
The guitar and bass on the other hand did not since the finger movement was complicated. They only had them act it out.
It's actually not as crazy as you might think- I have only very basic mocap experience from university but they would have used props that were also most likely motion captured, so all of the actors would have been playing their actual routines on replica props that are pretty much the same sizes as the models. It could be live, but it's way more likely that it's pre-recorded because I *think* I kept seeing the same motion sequence on Kayle of like the swaying side to side motion repeated to fill in space when she wasn't performing. It's all almost definitely motion captured, pre recorded sequences for sure though in my op.

I like Executioners Calling. It has a bit of a classic progressive side. Pentakill has always had some prog-influences, but usually more djent influences imo, these meaty bass parts are more reminiscent of something in the style of Tool and the meandering keyboard has some old-school Dream Theater vibes. very nice.

1:23 it's just soo clean and satisfying! the drummer / olaf is underrated.
This event reminded me so much of the guitar hero and rock band games.
The way to get around the choppy animation is to use far off/wide shots and lighting, which they did
Problem is they keep randomly zooming in on Sona and Kayle who are just fidgeting around which draws attention to the animation
Doesn't matter, it was still an awesome experience
I mean yah the animation was janky, but didn’t detract to the overall experience very much if at all. Given it’s live and that most everyone watching was really there for the music over everything else, I found everything dope AF.

It's not bad for a motion-captured video, but if it was pre-rendered animated it would have been soooooo much cooler. Although I understand that would have been too much work for a musical event.

Heavy metal drumming is something completely different than regular drumming. Not only do they stay in rythm with those amazing protrusions, but you also need to be good in maths to calculate where your hands will need to go. I kneel down before them.

It's mocap. Our current tech can't handle HDR models on live yet. Even VTubers or Miku concerts don't have super HD models.

@@Moo17234 I agree with that as well, who knows what were their reasons for NOT making it look that good, some kind of limitations have to be at play here, I don't know enough to say anything and I don't really want to look stupid either or pretend that I know more than I do
@@Moo17234 it is extremely hard to make a live motion capture concert with this kind of model, I don't think money will fix the problem here.
@@Moo17234 besides, the “animation” of this 50 minutes live concert is still better than Kda 3 minutes performance at Worlds 2020
