@@jacksmith2617 I recently go back into guitar. I currently own a PRS A55E acoustic and it surpasses my Epiphone. I have a PRS S2 35th Anniversary Custom 24 on order. Been told it'll ship approximately January-March. Gives me to time to practice more and to feel worthy of the Custom 24 when it comes in.

Fair enough, and if this is a person's only exposure to Paul Reed Smith, then yeah, it's maybe not the best first impression (cough, cough Kim Kardashian and her "humble" birthday party.) However, I'm going to go out on a branch and say that (most) anyone who knows a bit more about Paul knows that he is sincere in the love he has for what he is passionate about. So yeah, he, through working his ass off for years, has the financial means to acquire all this pricey gear - him being a self-admitted gear-head - but I don't feel he is "flexing."

A great song will always be a great song. Gear made today is so good. Yes you can spend $15K on a vintage U-47 or you can spend $300 on Lewitt mics, or $99 on an SM-57. Buy what does the job for the money you have. A great song is still the most important thing.

    Paul,
Let me tell you a quick story of when I young and stupid. I bought three nice condenser mikes. 2 small diaphragms and a stereo mid side Shure mic. I just plugged them into my DAT machine; this was like 1993, and didn't know anything about condensers needing a preamp. Boy was I disappointed when the level going to the recorder was barely noticeable! I returned the mid/side, but kept the small diaphragm condensers. They thought I was crazy. Only later did I learn that I needed a preamp to bump the gain up to sufficient levels.
So you do actually need a modicum of decent equipment, and the brains, or at least experience to have a good time! 😂🤣😒
    Eric
