This type of artist no longer exists, An artist, a creator, not a fame and money chaser. There's many reasons why I love our generation. Love his artistry.
Its wonderful that The Cult is still delivering great Music. Seen them and met Ian many years ago. I will be again on Sept 2024 in Toronto,Canada. 😎😎😎
Benefactors we are....great choice of word.Ian is a kool dude.❤
I love that Ian is emotionally intelligent and a thinker, he likes to shoot straight
Hope we can have more music and shows soon bab.
Rock!
⚘️
He still looks young. This is awesome
Ian, so funny, real, intelligent, the voice I haven't tired of decade after decade! My dream is to be in the woods camping, local musicians bring acoustic guitars, bongos, and Ian singing.
I've never seen an interview with Ian. I appreciate him and the evolution of the Cult over the years. Loved Hidden City and looking forward to hearing the new album. Was fortunate enough to see them in Spokane WA in the 1980s, on a ticket with Metallica.
Ian's interviews make such captivating conversations. I could listen to him for hours, whatever the topic. And I find his mixed (now) accent so endearing
I wish the time never ran out. Ian is a veritable library of interesting information.
Bless your heart Ian.
Ian Astbury's vocals on "Fire Woman" in my opinion, is in the top ten best ever hard rock songs. His vocal style is a one off unique only to him.
He's deserving of acclaim as well as Duffy.
The Cult is a powerful force.
What a band. What a catalogue of great songs. Love their latest album, not many bands you can say that about.
This man is an amazing songwriter, believe me. End of comment.
total rock god. sanctuary !!!!
I just discovered Ian & I'm in love now.❤
I think we would get along pretty well. I saw The Cult many times and I got his tambourine ten years ago in Groningen. And he loves Bauhaus!!
Oh wow! Ian is hilarious! I'm cracking up watching this interview! I adore this beautiful man ❤❤ thank you so much for posting this interview ❤ ✌🤘 I love listening to Ian talk about music and could listen to him for hours! Lovely to see him smiling again! A beautiful human being 😍❤💓
@@navarrenavarre yes! Adore ❤
@@navarrenavarre Absolutely 💯%!
Ian was like David Brent in parts of that interview
he is getting better with age
Ian in hilarious. Love the interview
Ian is the best of the best of the best⚘️
Wonderful Album🍀
Saw Crass 26 times and lived with them awhile back then! Would of been me if I'd been living in the U.K. instead of the States back then. Was a big Crass fan and even wrote to them and got a letter back from NA Palmer. Nice of him.
Are you into STEVE IGNORANT on his own
Thanks for this🎸💯
Absolutely incredible show in Shelton on Saturday night ! Ian is a brilliant, down to earth and extraordinary artist. What an interview 🙏
Never heard Ian throw Billy under a bus before
He has in a roundabout way but it's always a bit of fun
I agree...this was the first time it felt like he was actually taking shots at Billy. They have taken the piss out of each other before....but his statements at the beginning of the interview had sharper edges
Although now Ian is not sure if he is a Wolfchild or a coyote…
@@j_freed he looks like Waldo/Wally.
Are you positive? Awful interviewer. Didn't he really listen to what he's been told for over 30 minutes?
He always make you think... god love him..
Lets play nice and learn to love one another again
AWESOME SHOW in Chandler, Arizona 🤘🤘🤘🤘
big shout to Chandler , had some metal head friends there i visited.
@@jimbo0411 🤘
Great stuff, keep it up!
Ian in a bad mood 💋💋💋
He absolutely seems salty as hell
Good man he walked into our fave record shop in halifax uk
I love the humility
I remember when Ian,was a young 🌱 guy,He still looks good 👍🧁😊 but I can't believe how time got by.👠😭🎉🎊😻.The Tenn Girlfriend.
He’s a real name dropper. But it’s true 😅
Good stuff!
always interesting
I know he hates Ceremony, but it's probably my favorite by them, tho I think Rock would have been a better producer for it. I like the period from Sonic Temple to after Beyond G and E, but am a fan of all of it, really.
Ian's Australian accent was gold, and as for someone they can tour with, my choice would be Buckethead but it wouldn't be easy to get him to agree to play outside USA.
You allways have to look cool.cause you never know who you will meet
Killing Joke are the best Industrial band ever!
What happened with kj and the CULT supporting?
I love Ian’s maturity levels❤.
He's right, we do understand. That's why we don''t buy into things that easy.
He is spot-on about the "Gucci marxists." 100%.
mmmmm ian
I wonder if new Cult records make any money, or if they are a vanity project they can afford to keep cranking out.
The folds of the mind of Ian Astbury. Layers of poignant thoughts.
I had no idea that Ian was in the British army at one point. Cult can't gets gigs in Germany? If new model army can tour Germany endlessly and play Rock am ring so can the cult.
Hmmm i used to listen to 1 album from The Cult on bootleg cassette recorded of a CD dont even remember the title it was good though not enough too become a fan. i recognize the cover but not the music at all of the album i used to like " Ceremony "
Ian used to be such a sweet, genuine guy, I don't know what happened but he sounds really off.
Sounds like Ian’s into the great reset
Ian talking shit about Billy throughout....kind of a weak move on Ians part. He usually has more class than that. Ive met both Ian and Billy on a handful of occasions and for as much as Ian claims to be there for his "benefactors "....Billy was hands down the nicer, more approachable and more laid back of the two. Ian acted as if he was hanging with the fans out of obligation whereas Billy just hung out and shot the shit with us and talked for a long time. Not sure what kind of tension is happening between them, but keeping personal issues private seems to be a much more mature way to handle things.
I genuinely hope Ian was just in a mood the day of this interview...I would hate to see this brilliant band fall apart
Agree...I met Billy in 2009 and he's such a gentleman.
I think Ian is the more introverted of the two but no less a great guy. They work well together because they have opposing personalities and by all accounts they get on very well. I never heard him putting Billy down at all.
Ian left out one band whom would be excellent to tour with. That would be J. Napolitano from Concrete Blonde.
Throwing Billy under the bus, and not discreet about it.
Oooof Billy's not going to be happy! 😒 something's going on there! I have to say I really wish I had Ian's work ethic!
Yeah...I think its kind of weak of Ian to take shots at Billy to be honest. If they are having some internal friction...the classy move would be to sort it out in private....not on some random RUclips interview show. Ian seems a bit salty throughout this entire interview
@@sandrafisherhayes3219 They are like blood brothers they have pissed each other of before but deep down they need one another. The love is always there I'm sure of that 🖤🙏
@@ej_8888 yes absolutely! The fact they are still friends after all these years is a testament to that! Like family...as you said blood brothers E.J!
I like that ring
😮😍😊👍🖤
He has that dry delivery of talking reminds me of CHRIS OF IAMX
A little bold (and maybe he's spot-on) of Ian to say U2 & Guns n' Roses care about money..ALL bands care about money. I LOVE The Cult since spring of '89, love Ian & Billy, but he needs to step down off the soapbox a bit. I just love the interview, lol.
@@ryangettig274 Well, hold on, lol. Izzy had a hand in co-writing a ton of the material..but as a very capable co-writer (and a fine rhythm git player). Appetite credits the band and the Illusions records show Stradlin with a ton of credits as a co-writer. I do recall the brief quote from Izzy a few years back saying the touring $$ split wasn't fair may be true and it sucks if it's true. I could also say that Steven Adler's departure in the spring of '90 was the first death knell because as solid as Sorum was, Adler's playing was better suited to the band, in my opinion.
@@Lynchfan88 Dude, take a break-go listen to Izzy Stradlin & the JuJu Hounds-1992,then listen to The Broken Homes entire discography, then get back to me after you never got the joke:)
@@ryangettig274 I have that Ju-Ju Hounds cd from '92 and haven't listened to it an awhile. I recall it being good. Not very familiar w/The Broken Homes. Thank you for mentioning that.
The pandemic didn't last 6 years Ian.
Merits....good question. He was acting like he needs more credit.
Love thd Tom Ford's have the same.
Ian with the hair again
It's not his
@@glennoc8585don't be so silly, yes it is, I saw him a while back without the scarf or hat.

oh dear..... "coyote"
Agree with everything but not frank Zappa But yeah ,traffic,Bowie &the mushrooms
Poker tournaments.
"eight" 😂
The interviewer is irritating.
18:27 - like JFK, Ian just shamelessly referred to himself as a fried donut with filling…
Maybe he could get to the gym?
‘Ich bin Berliner’ means I’m from Berlin. Not what he said.
The interviewer has a nervous laugh...
We need you back to EU + eastern countries RIGHT NOW!!! Had enough, I'm sick of this Democratie
... I thought it was Wayne from Wayne's World...but he's not funny.
Love the band since Death Cult. I do not like this new album! Sorry it is not good and it’s short. Vendetta and Knife are the closest cuts to The Cult we know. Disappointing.
Interviewer tried to take the piss.. Ian has the intelect to take care of clowns like that. Bless you and the band Ian. See you playing soon .
