    00:07 Ideal diode allows generous flow of current in forward bias but blocks current in reverse bias
    00:59 Current through the diode is equal to Is.
    02:06 In ideal diode, there is no resistance for the diode current
    03:08 In reverse bias, ID is nearly zero, making it ideal. In forward bias, diode acts as a closed mechanical switch due to current flow.
    04:11 A semiconductor diode only permits current to flow in one direction.
    05:15 The VI characteristics for practical and ideal diodes have been plotted.
    06:22 In forward bias condition, voltage across an ideal diode is 0.
    07:19 Ideal diode has VD equal to 0 and current through the diode is equal to 0 in reverse bias condition.

    I believe temperature refers to the ambient temperature. Does breakdown voltage changes with load current variations as that may impact the junction temperature?

    since diodes are non-ohmic is it ok to apply ohm's law and calculate those answers for ideal diode?

    In forward bias, current flows but voltage is 0 since resistance is 0 too, how is that possible to have current when voltage is 0?

    • @MrAdeelPhysicist

      Because of minority carriers

      In forward bias we neglected barrier potential, forward dynamic resistance, diode act like open switch so we says that voltage drop across diode is zero bc it's short circuit and current is flowing right

    Why in semiconductor diode current flows only in one direction?

    • @Stan_Castan
      @Stan_Castan 10 дней назад

      Because the junction makes the holes and electrons to separate if the flow of current is reversed, thus, the gap becomes too large for the electrons to pass

    Sir what is static resistance and dynamic resistance

    • @hafsakhalil7458
      @hafsakhalil7458 7 лет назад +1

      Small resistance is called Dynamic resistance

    • @sibongakonkengobese3216
      @sibongakonkengobese3216 6 лет назад +1

      Dynamic resistance is the internal resistance of a diod in a forward condition. It influences the curve of V-I because if the forward voltage is less than barrier voltage the current tends increase gradually, but once it has passed the knee point, which is 0.7 V for diode, the forward current increases rapidly. After 0.7 V the forward dynamic resistance is very small.
