      Happy Holidays to you too! Of the cards you mentioned I only have the Venture X (working on the SUB & already used the $300 credit for upcoming RT flights to Europe).

      @JoseSantiago-yq7co 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@KevinYang I travel to Europe in economy about three times a year (usually booking way in advance), so I might end up transferring them into Avios, Virgin or Flying Blue Miles if there is a transfer bonus that makes transferring Venture Miles cost effective. I have not found it easy to get greater than 1CPP for transatlantic economy flights. Alternative cash bookings that meet my needs are often available. Scandinavian Airlines has been quite good for my 2024 bookings ~$600. So there is a also good chance I will be using the travel eraser feature with those Venture Miles.

      @@JoseSantiago-yq7co Gotcha, then have you checked out the Chase ecosystem? It's possible to regularly get 1.25 or 1.5 cpp booking travel through their portal depending on the Sapphire card you have

    • @JoseSantiago-yq7co
      @JoseSantiago-yq7co 6 месяцев назад

      @@KevinYang Yup, had the Sapphire Reserved, but product changed it to avoid AF. Will have it again someday. Cashing in MRs for 1.583CPP to cover cash outlay for now while I still can in year 1 of the Biz Plat. Travel eraser on VX would be a last resort.

      It's a great card! I'm still debating which one I end up keeping for the long term...

  • @boondoggle4820
    @boondoggle4820 6 месяцев назад +6

    As someone who’s had the CFF and CFU for years now, I earn much more on the CFF than I do on the CFU. 1.5% is better than 1%, and I have used it as a catchall card, but half the points that I have on it are from a period during the pandemic when my rental office waived credit card fees for using a credit card to pay rent. If it wasn’t for that, I’d have four times as many points from the CFF as I do from the CFU.

    • @KevinYang
      @KevinYang  6 месяцев назад +1

      Same here, most of my regular spends fall into these categories, and so a catch-all doesn't actually handle that much, and especially not much if it's just a 0.5% difference! Thanks for sharing your experience!

    • @bman3020
      @bman3020 6 месяцев назад +2

      The double points for 12 months offer they have right now on a new CFU app is a no brainer. Effectively 12% on dining and drug stores if you convert to a travel partner. 6% on everything else.

    • @KevinYang
      @KevinYang  6 месяцев назад

      @@bman3020 It's really compelling for sure! But for low to moderate spenders, the regular welcome bonus could actually be better! That said, it's a straight forward calculation anyone can do to see which one is right for them!

    This last quarter of 2023 I picked up the CFU, CBU, & VX and I've been using these mostly for the bonus. The Amex Gold is still my favorite and never leaves my wallet. Great Vid Kevin! (looking forward to see what's in your wallet for 1st qtr 2024)💥

    I have the CFU, CFF, CSP and VX… I have the Gold as well but am experiencing statement credit burnout at this point and might be switching from the Gold to the C1S1 next year….shall see at the end of 2024 as I think things will shake up a bit with Wells potentially entering the travel partner space and I can see other issuers having to pivot due to the competition.

    • @KevinYang
      @KevinYang  6 месяцев назад

      Yeah the slightly higher earnings from the Amex Gold over the C1S1 may not be worth it if you factor in the additional mental load it takes... And totally agree, we'll have to see what Wells Fargo has up their sleeves

    Great video, but I would disagree about leaving the Freedom Unlimited out. With the two offers they currently still have for the 5X back on Gas & Groceries for first year and the Double Your Cash Back I would argue this card is better than the Freedom Flex.

    • @KevinYang
      @KevinYang  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for bringing that up! Totally agree, the Chase Freedom cards have some amazing welcome bonuses for entry, no annual fee cards! That said, the 5x back offer also exists on the Freedom Flex, and the double points on the Freedom Unlimited means you're giving up the typical welcome bonus, and requires you to spend a pretty significant amount just to even match that original bonus! In either case, and with all cards, it's really what fits a user's lifestyle! Thanks Matt!

    I think business and first class redemptions put a finger on the scale of points travel. The fact is that if you where never going to pay full price for a first or business class seat then the fact that it's a 3-4cpp valuation is irrelevant because it's not saving you that amount of actual cash. It's only saving you what you would have spent on that flight, that being the economy price.

    • @KevinYang
      @KevinYang  5 месяцев назад

      Very true! You can definitely reduce the cpp value according to what you feel comfortable in paying for those flights!
