- In the second trip of what has become an annual kick-off to Milky Way season, we partake in an all-night adventure to Acadia National Park. Packing the car with every camera we own, we venture several hours up the coast of Maine to Acadia National Park and set-up at the end of the park loop next to Boulder Beach overlooking the Otter Cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean. Last year we had a hard time getting our bearings in the dark but this year we were more familiar with the lay of the land and upon arrival, we got straight to work photographing the stars. With the open ocean occupying the space between us and the horizon, plus the fact that the region has light pollution restrictions, this is the darkest sky we've ever photographed in Maine and the stars are absolutely stunning. Every year the Earth's axis rotates so the Milky Way disappears behind the horizon for the winter months, but come spring, the angles all begin to line up again and late March or early April is when it all begins to kick off! It's a lot of work staying up for 24 hours, driving 5-6 hours and shooting in the cold and dark for 6 hours, but it's worth every minute to be there under that sky, cameras in hand. For anyone thinking of venturing to Bar Harbor for a photography mission, do your research, plan properly and you will be greatly rewarded! If you have any questions about timing or locations, hit us up, we'd love to talk photography anytime!

Stunning. Thank you for posting.
dope..let me join the trip next time ! Im ready..lol..im shooting Nikon d850 with sigma 14mm 1.8. Trying to get a good milky way shot with great comp and its hard to do it here in CT. I love Maine for this reason but never been to Bar Harbor..hopefully next month ill make a trip up
just came back from Maine and shot the Milky Way at eagle lake on Mt Desert Island/Bar Harbor..by far the most stars ive ever seen and it was a perfectly clear night and caught an amazing Milky Way!, had 2 hours of sleep in a tent then made it up to Cadillac Mt for the sunrise! Such an amazing experience and weather conditions were just right for both events. I really got lucky!!

If i could see this kind of view i would literally cry. Light pollution caused by of course humans is ruining the night sky view for lots of people (80% of Americans) and its really starting to piss me off. If we could lower down the amount of lights we use in our world including cities, imagine the spectacular views we would could have at night.
Nice work, nice photos. Need a special permit to stay all night in the park?
Thank you very much. We weren't camping so no.
I feel lile I rarely come across astrophotographers using the Fujifilm X-T3, so it's reassuring that I can potentially produce the same photos with my fuji instead of my heavy canon dslr and heavy wide angle lens
Is the Milky Way visible to the nake eye or only through use of special photography?
On a dark clear night, it is visible with the naked eye.
Beautiful video and really interesting ! The light that morning looks really spectacular
Pierre Lédée it sure was spectacular!
Wait, do you actually see it that clear, or is it just the camera?
The camera does help capture more detail but it's so dark in Acadia you can easily see the milky way with the naked eye. It's stunning!
I can see a decent Milky Way trail just outside of Portland. Porter, ME is a great spot, overlooking Colcord Pond.
you can see the northern lights so cool
You guys are doing some great videos. Nice to see someone in Maine with a RUclips channel. Very inspiring photographs. It’s making me want to get out more. Please keep them coming. Maybe even a video from composition to editing.
Thanks, Steven! We will definitely be making a video like that soon!
Tonight I was looking at sky n made me think of my time at sand beach where I was able to witness n sincerely these photos are captivating. You guys have an amazing job!!!! Stay safe !!
Thank you very much!
Great video guys! I am thinking about making trips to there in the near future, one question tho, will I see with raw eyes?
Amazing video. Would love some more information on where you guys are shooting.
How do you take a photo like that
