Thanks for the video. We went to Acadia this week and visited several of your must-see spots. I don’t know if they were running when you were there but the best way to get around and not fight the traffic is to use the free shuttle system. There are several lines. There are stops at our campgrounds and the visitor center with plenty of RV parking
it's pronounced Skoodic, a hard C. When there go to the Pickled Wrinkle in Birch Harbor. Best crab & butter I ever had. Best seafood in Mt Desert Island is Thurston's in Tremont, west side. Beal's in Southwest Harbor is second. They both get lobster right from the local dock as fresh as can be.
Thanks for the correction! I did get a chance to stop by the Pickled Wrinkle while there and it was a fantastic experience! I'll have to try those other places next time I'm in the area! Thanks for the tips!
We’ve been to Acadia 3 times and the most recent time we went I took your advice and went to schoodic point. Wow Im mad at myself for not making the drive on previous trips. Love it there!
Great Video!!! Going to Acadia for the first time in September. Can't wait. Watching videos like this one, reading up on Acadia and just ordered a trail map. And we have our reservations for Cadillac Mountain sunrise and drive to the tip. Going to be a awesome place to see...
Use the free buses. They get you almost everywhere including trailheads. Sunrise on Cadillac Mountain is magnificent followed by breakfast at Jeanies in Bar Harbor.
Cadillac Mountain requires a reservation for a time slot for you to drive up the mountain. (The Park service will give you a30 minute window to enter before your start time. Jordan’s Pond- two parking lots and can be very difficult to get a parking spot. If your goal is to park and hike the trail around the pond then perhaps do it first after the park opens Loop-one way only and shared by cyclists, tour buses cars etc. Meaning you may have to make multiple loops in the car to see all the attractions.
As an Acadia park guide, I’d like to say that these are great spots indeed - well done ✅ 🌲(except for your pronunciation of “schoodic”) what month were u there? ☀️
Trying to plan a trip. is 4 days enough to visit Acadia? I would love to see the sunrise on the mountain and the sunset at the lighthouse so i want to make sure i have a few days there to have favorable weather conditions.
Is there any roadside parking allowed anywhere near the bass harbor light house ? I see multiple side streets near it or on the main road of harbor drive ? I don't mind walking to it
Maybe someone else can answer that but to my knowledge there's no street parking nearby. The main road leading to the lighthouse is too narrow for any street parking. I'm not sure about the side roads.
I keep hearing, get there early because the parking lots fill up, I also here morning fog is brutal... Ugh... do you come early to get a parking spot and just hang out till the fog burns off?
Where specifically? If you are going up to Cadillac mountain then you wont see much if anything if there is fog. However if you are in the lower parts of the park, there are still plenty of hikes and places to go around to spend time waiting for fog to dissipate. Parking is a big pain so if dealing with finding parking stresses you out I would go early. If you dont mind circling or waiting for a spot then you could go a bit later in the day.
High tide changes day to day. There are many sites like NOAA's site that has the high tide times for the day. For Acadia you can look up high tide for bar harbor. There are 2 high tide points per day.
Great vlog! We are planning a trip in 2023 and this was very helpful! We just subbed to your channel. We hope you can check us out too sometime. We loved this one....very informative and we are going to try those restaurants! We plan on staying in Bar Harbor for like 4 nights or so

This was super helpful! We are heading to Acadia in a few weeks. When were you there? Hoping the crowds aren’t as bad now that summer is over.
I was there in the summer during peak crowds so hopefully it is much better now. Peak season ends after September.
where exactly is this Red Barn please
It is in Augusta Maine. 5 minutes off of 95
