Mine had a new carb, but the choke was held in with a spring. Took it out and stuck the original choke on, and took off one of the vent caps now it runs great
you need a (JIS) "japanese industrial standard" screwdriver made by vessel brand for the float bowl screws, no impact needed, the american "philips" has a different taper and doesn't lock in to the screwhead. hope this helps. that is a suzuki engine.
I have 2000 arctic cat 300 bought Chinese carburetor choke cable whole is smaller in diameter than factory carb can you tell me what I need to fix this problem thanks
@@ecohunter the cable it'self fits. the screw in nut that holds the cable stationery to the after market carburetor is larger than after market carburetor whole. Can you help
Awesome video!, I have a 97 arctic cat 454.. maybe you can help with advice, starts first time.. blows white smoke for 4 mins then clears (it's not coolant, its full).. then if I rev it all the way.. some black smoke comes out..(only when I rev it). My dad and are thinking to change cylinder head.. but I have a funny feeling want to try cleaning the carb (might be running too rich). Thnx in advance if anyone has advice. Cheers
I would try the carb, but more than likely you will need to do engine work from the sounds of it. Here is a good explanation of smoke colors. Like and subscribe! atvfreedom.com/smoke/
Thank you for making this video, but you scare me... disassembling the carb with one hand and out in the open where a part could fling/fall into the dirt. The disassembly should be preformed on a bench with safety measures like a towell or something to catch any falling parts. You dropped the float needle, at 7:56! Did you lose it?
@@ecohunter it cranks over and that's about it. After about 30 40 minutes of trying it will start. But that's trying with the button and pull starting at the same time
I put premium gas in all my small engines. I don't know how much it helps, but their tanks are small enough it only costs like $1 more. I also put some kind of gas stabilizer in it. Like and subscribe!
Yeah it's pretty easy. I have bought alot of carbs off Amazon. All but 1 has been the right carb and worked well. Most of the time it's just as easy to buy new as it is to clean. Hope it goes well. Let me know if you have any questions. Like and subscribe
I don't remember exactly. It's been awhile. Try to find on the screw part of the jet and see if you can tell where it was sitting before you took it out. Most carbs I work on the jets are pretty much as far as they can screw in. But not all
Your a life saver! Thanks so much for the in depth information!

Here is an idea, clean the dirt off first before you start taking stuff apart
Excellent content thank you very much.

So your choke cable probably doesn't fit into the hole right?

Having an issue with my 2001 artic cat 250 has spark, getting gas and air but won't start. Any ideas?
Does it crank over and sputter? Or does it just crank and not do anything?
@@ecohunter it cranks over and that's about it. After about 30 40 minutes of trying it will start. But that's trying with the button and pull starting at the same time
Have you cleaned the carb? It could be compression as well. The valves might need to be adjusted.
@@ecohunter yep took it all apart and nothing, no dirt or anything at all. Clean as a whistle. How would you check the compression?
And how do you check the valves.
Do you put 91 or just 87 fuel?

I have a 2001 Arctic Cat 400 that needs a new carb. Just ordered one off Amazon. I hope it's an easy job....

Do you remember how many turns out the jets are?

I have always been told on any high speed jet screw down all the way and back off a 1/4 turn , start and adjust from there!
Wrong way to take seat off
Why would you ever open any part of the engine without cleaning all the crud off first? Such amatures trying to teach engine repair/service!!
Step # 1... clean off the mud. Step # 2.... Hire a real mechanic!
