The takeaway from this episode for me is that the persistent and continual persecution of supposedly powerless individuals in Nigeria trying to do the right thing by speaking out such as Dele Farotimi will eventually expose the septic and rotten core of the judiciary in the country.

Mr. Lawyer, it is not subjective, it is a matter of Law and judicial procedures, it appears Nigeria is a lawless banana republic. I am baffled by some of these lawyers who makes public statements, it is either they are liars, or they are ignorant of the law. I am baffled why the Lagos state government has not said anything, Nigeria is a Federal Republic, Mr.Farotimi is a resident of Lagos therefore under the legal jurisdiction of Lagos and if any crime was committed, then it was committed in Lagos. It is illegal for a police from another state in a Federation to cross state lines to arrest someone. Mr. Farotimi was supposed to be arrested by the Lagos police and taken to court if any crime was committed, and it is a Lagos state judge who will decide if Mr. Farotimi should be extradited to Ekiti state or not and not picked up by Ekiti state police and taken to Ekiti state without a ruling from a Lagos state magistrate. Knowing all these, it is obvious that Mr. Farotimi was kidnapped and not arrested because Ekiti state police has no jurisdiction in Lagos state. I was expecting the Lagos state government to demand his return to Lagos state, but they are silent. I am baffled how timid his continued illegal detention is being handled by Nigerians.
