- What a sweet running engine for its age, and a giant leap in technology and convenience of use at that time. This one resides in its original crate with a glass top on it as a table in my man cave.
Great motors and so well built. They sound so good. Got my 1924 A Model working last year in a barrel. Going to try on my Grumman Sport boat.
Run it!
Wow, how low is that idle. Must be 300rpm . What a sweetheart 💖
@GlenB1963 slow enough 💪
Great motor,i have a 1960 3horse👍
This engine was a pleasant surprise to run. You can’t go wrong with your 1960 3hp.
That is a beauty for sure
👍
That ol'girl purrs like a kitten.
Well done sir.
Thank you.
Have a similar look 1939 model 4313. 5 hp according the book. Just bought it, not running yet. Yours sounds great!
@markmehling5347 thanks! Dig into yours and get it running. You won’t be disappointed.
I have one of those. A-70 I think. I paid $30.00 for it. The handle was gone and someone welded a pipe on it. It wasn't making spark and I couldn't get the flywheel off so I got in through the top of the flywheel and cleaned up the points as best I could and that was it. Started right up.
They seem to be great runners.
Love it !
@marcchaffee7751 me too!

eBay
What's the oil to fuel ratio? Old shiny motors are awesome, nothing but metal.
16:1 GAS:OIL
@GearHeadJP that's really not that rich for a motor as old as it is.
It seems that way, but that is the proper mix ratio. The technology changed quickly in the early 20’s.
@GearHeadJP it's a nice little machine to putter around with, that's for sure. I've had a couple of little dinosaurs before. It's feels pretty cool to run them.
Cool. I typically get bored with engines that won’t plain my boat, but this one and a couple of others that can’t just run so darn nice that they’ve become keepers.
