"If" is a delayed trigger. With Strionic Resonator, you can copy either trigger if you want to sac two different artifacts and find two different mana values or you can sac one, copy the delayed trigger, and get two of that mana value.
Its a high risk commander, might as well get a high reward. My favourites are utility spells that double as wincons, such as Prologue to Phyresis, Finale of Devastation, Turnabout, etc
@@alexanderwaller7354 Sure. My point isn't don't play high rewards, my point is that it doesn't need a high reward to pay out. Keep in mind you can main phase a haste spell, that will last EOT, and attack the same turn. Also, I'm assuming (but not sure) that by saying they have "utility" what you mean is that you'd run them anyways, and in that case you're literally making the same point I am, but just listing different examples
@@zeroisnine Yeah I get you, I'm just saying that she has a lot of hoops to jump through (such as really needing haste or flash like you mention), so you might as well go for the crazy payoffs that win the game. Similar to how Kaalia of the Vast, an almost identical high-risk commander, might as well use Master of Cruelties to win instead of merely Adarkar Valkyrie to spin her wheels. Utility vs niche wincons: niche can only be used to combo win, but utility can be cast for value OR be used to combo win. Akroma's Will is a great example of a utility + wincon, albeit in white.
Just want to add to the iron man flavor section, Gontis aether heart. It does artifact stuff, has an ETB, is powerful but also I mean it’s in the name, a non organic heart

I highly doubt anyone is going to ask you to unsleeve your Captain America card to check if it's legit or not. It’s wild that the community went crazy when some cards were banned… but now we have commanders that are locked behind a $600 budget. Wizards is such a bad company
I am so glad I was able to get my order fulfilled for this secret lair drop. I was ready to check out within 30 seconds of the sale going live, yet I still had to wait in the queue for almost three hours. I was lucky enough to be able to order some for my friends as well since they let me know ahead of time which character's drop they wanted. Now we will be able to have all four players with a different Marvel commander for a game! Super bummed out I didn't get the arcane signet with my order, though. Wizards should have been able to accurately assess how many signets to print given that this secret lair was a limited print and required at least $199 of purchases. Hopefully they take the signets from the scalpers that cheated the queue and give them to the real people that waited instead, although I won't hold my breath for that.
Why would they? It's not like they care about their customers, only the bottom line and the numbers. "Sold out within minutes" sucks for the players, but it looks good for executives, so why would they bother to throw us a bone like that? They knew this would happen, and meant for it to happen.
@@Jtsqueaker I would prefer if they did unlimited print run but they had too many people complaining about it and had people trying to sue them when it was print to demand. The players are literally the ones ruining things for themselves lol. The mtg fan base is way too entitled and immature most of the time.
One thing I'd recommend for Wolverine players is to take a look at lists for Zangief, the Red Cyclone/Maarika, Brutal Gladiator. They occupy very similar design spaces, so I'd imagine there's a lot of overlap in the cards that get run in their decks.
Thanks for the episode, but it feels like the wind has been taken out of the sails after the terrible Secret Lair drop… I don’t know a single person in my life who wanted these and was able to get them.

I just finally got confirmed (after two years) that I infact never got my cards returned to from wizards. They took too long to replace my cards, and then they decided to just not give them back. Wizards is not doing anything correctly.
Well the thing with Storm is that you don't really have to storm off, you cast maybe let's say 1 cantrip, then attack, then you cast let's say time warp or maybe extra combat spell or maybe a draw spell or maybe a throes of chaos or some other cascade instant or sorcery. You can easily start drowning the table in value without actually "Storming" off. You could build this deck as a straight storm deck but there's better commanders for doing this. I think it's better built copying bigger instant or sorcery spells once.
Only problem is, then you're using her to Fork and not to storm, so you're playing high risk low reward instead of high risk high reward. Its like, you can use Kaalia to deploy a Serra Angel, but you could just deploy Avacyn instead.
I built captain america and storm, wanted to buy both as foil, except 2 storm, only got one storm non foil. Ah well, got a buddy helping me out so thats good :) the storms were for christmas gifts :(
I am surprised in Storm they didn't mention cards like Bear Umbra, Nature's Will, or Rude Awakening, because they untap your lands, 2/3 will do so multiple times through out the turn if you go the Extra Combat route And if you use the Extra Combats that specifically give you extra main phases you will get more opportunities to build your storm count, and anything that gives extra power will make her go nuts.
When they arrive, I have Iron Man going in my Captain America deck because I feel like they synergize well. I’m also running a lot of artifact recursion.

Given that "Marvel Team-Up" is a comic book theme, I wish these commanders had a Team Up ability similar to partner or friends. Going forward, I hope WotC considers this.
I don't wake up earlier enough to order these, so I piggy backed off of some friends that I knew would be ordering them. Glad I did, I heard they went through a crappy time getting them ordered. I just needed the Commander's Plate cause that card is already pretty expensive.

I am happy to have gotten all five of them this time around. My Sister, her two kids and myself will be holding a "raffle" to decide which deck we build, and once those decks are built we'll roll to see who gets which deck for a month or two long tournament. Should be fun!

"If" is a delayed trigger. With Strionic Resonator, you can copy either trigger if you want to sac two different artifacts and find two different mana values or you can sac one, copy the delayed trigger, and get two of that mana value.
You don't need a crazy payoff with Storm. Even Rampany Growth into Divination is insane.
Great pick!!!!
SOmething deep within my soul wants to do some sort of landfall something with Storm. Otherwise throwing expensive horrible equipment at people with Cap sounds fun.
Love coming here and seeing all these ideas. I have BP and Wolvie coming. Cant wait to build both
sadly im not building any because i missed the secret lair drop and was unable to get any
Just proxy them. If wotc doesnt want us to buy them, we should follow their wishes and just print the cards ourself
@@PatataMaxtex There are way more play groups that do not accept proxies. My LGS does not allow proxies because they can get consequences if they do, like most LGS play groups. Proxies are fun for private play groups but not public ones
@@Chewy0836445 You can get proxies that look essentially identical to WotC printed cards. I highly doubt anyone is going to ask you to unsleeve your Captain America card to check if it's legit or not.
As long as you aren't using them in sanctioned events or trying to sell them as real cards, then they should be fine for casual play, which, btw, is essentially WotC's official stance on proxy cards.
For storm's flavor, how did they miss thousand year storm, the thing that gives your instants and sorceries storm?
Probably because I practice you would end up not playing it most of the time and it would end up dead in your hand.
One thing I'd recommend for Wolverine players is to take a look at lists for Zangief, the Red Cyclone/Maarika, Brutal Gladiator. They occupy very similar design spaces, so I'd imagine there's a lot of overlap in the cards that get run in their decks.
They knew what they were doing on design, Hasbro had no idea what they were doing with sales.
I need to get these!!
Thanks for the episode, but it feels like the wind has been taken out of the sails after the terrible Secret Lair drop… I don’t know a single person in my life who wanted these and was able to get them.
1:42:04 speaking of flavor, I traded my buddy a rhystic study from Prophecy for a rhystic study from Wilds of Eldraine for my merfolk deck because it has a merfolk on it with merfolk flavor text! I instantly fell in love when I saw it.
Aww not adding the *original* thors hammer? Toralf god of fury! 😂. Tbh it’s probably pretty bad in this deck but it’s thematic
Thanks for reminding that some of us couldn’t get these commanders at all.
Getting up at 4am, queuing for 4 hours and checking out with an empty cart.
We gettin scalped boys LFG! Love being a fan of this game!!!!!!
Always remember that when Wotc limits availability like this they are implying to players who did not get it that they can and should proxy the cards.
People really need to direct their anger about the secret lair issues towards WotC, not the content creators within the community.
Cry babies… Proxy or wait on the secondary market to lower. I think this channel has been through enough drama in the past couple of months. They don’t need to acknowledge people’s feelings.
@@TechSway I think that for the 99% of us, our anger is definitely directed towards WotC (and even more Hasbro). The comment section of one of the biggest MTG RUclips channels is simply a medium to let our voice be heard.
I think releasing a video like this shows a complete lack of empathy for thousands of people who got screwed over by what happened on Monday. Shame on WotC, but also shame on them too for not reading the room.
I just finally got confirmed (after two years) that I infact never got my cards returned to from wizards. They took too long to replace my cards, and then they decided to just not give them back. Wizards is not doing anything correctly.
It was kinda tone deaf tho. That's criticism, not hate
I like the X-Men cards mainly because u can use the ikoria cards with mutate 😂 because mutate doesn't work on humans but can work on mutant heros.
I'm definitely building all of them ! Easy pick up !
Can I just say that I love the fact that they added that little nod to the black history month secret lair we had years ago!
Thank you for the video! I love the new card artwork!
..... I feel like people are going to fight me on sight when i use these cards in commander 😅
I built captain america and storm, wanted to buy both as foil, except 2 storm, only got one storm non foil. Ah well, got a buddy helping me out so thats good :) the storms were for christmas gifts :(
Oh, good! I WAS REALLY WORRIED important ppl we're also unable to get ahold of these exclusive cards 😂
MPCFILL fixes all your problems. PROXY ALL THE THINGS LESS THAN 2 BUCKS A CARD
I am surprised in Storm they didn't mention cards like Bear Umbra, Nature's Will, or Rude Awakening, because they untap your lands, 2/3 will do so multiple times through out the turn if you go the Extra Combat route
And if you use the Extra Combats that specifically give you extra main phases you will get more opportunities to build your storm count, and anything that gives extra power will make her go nuts.
When they arrive, I have Iron Man going in my Captain America deck because I feel like they synergize well. I’m also running a lot of artifact recursion.
remember folks, proxies are justified
@@TheSmartCinema remember folks not all cards are made into proxies by companies like proxy king and others so if you want to proxy them then you have to print yourself of a piece of paper that probably won’t even look good 🫠 some people actually care about art and card quality
@@ColbeyGailey there are planty of websites where you can order custom playing cards. Every commander deck I own were purchased this way. Just gotta make the backside like "PROXY NOT FOR SALE" and most sellers will accept your order.
@@ColbeyGaileyAnd they still buy WotC products? Lol
@@heliobarbosa3525 I buy a lot of proxies I just want them to look good I have nothing against proxies but when a company doesn’t make a proxy then you have to print it yourself and I personally don’t want a low quality proxy
Unfortunately not everyone who wanted them got them. I dislike the decision to move away from Print to Demand. It really sucks.
@@c0barsm when it was print to demand they got a ton of complaints about it taking too long so they gave consumers what they wanted. Consumers just don't know what's good for themselves lol
aegis of the legion for cap you get to mentor and shield them; mage slayer for wolverine deal double power to an opponent just by attacking
So for my Black Panther deck, I went heavy on the the lands that can turn into creatures and just use them to swing in. It is still a token go wide strategy at heart but there will be one big beater in the mix.
I humbly suggest Shroofus Sproutsire with or without Life and Limb. 😁
I'm doing great Gaurav! Thanks for asking! 🤓
path of the pyromancer with underworld breach, now you can cast all the spells you discarded :)
"do you know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning? The same thing that happens to everything else" - Ororo Munroe, Nickname: Storm
I'm gonna build Storm, Force of Nature. I tried the Izzet storm precon and I do love it, but this sounds way more fun, giving storm to other spells that don't have it.
edit: just checked Card market, Storm, Fury of Nature costs 100 € lol.
Kusari-gama isn't your turn restricted, you can do this on other people's turns.
not the best release date on this video XD
I queued online at 9:00 and didn’t get to check out until 1:45p at which point it was sold out… luckily someone ahead of me bought it for me while supplies lasted
Can’t wait to try my deck list for storm out!
No lie, this video actually made me pretty sad. Seeing such unique and awesome cards that a majority of us won't get to play.
To all those that are upset about the availability, just proxy them. Then alter/proxy other cards for flavor. Win/win.
Unfortunately I couldn't afford all of them, but wolverine was a must for me I did snag him and I will build him... him and spider-man are my absolute favorites and I'm very excited for that set as well
Given that "Marvel Team-Up" is a comic book theme, I wish these commanders had a Team Up ability similar to partner or friends.
Very little love for Wolverine! Do you feel out of breath? Do you feel fatigued from all this? This episode felt very last minute and did not finish strong.
I'm definitely building storm as a commander and probably putting wolverine in my shalai and halar deck.
For wolverine I will use the staff of domination, bigger on the inside, infinite mana, Cascade, More spells
I used Commander Quarters proxies (Shout out) after such a SL blunder. I will never buy any Secret Lair while this predatory limited availability remains in practice. I never had any problems when it was print to demand ;p
too fucking bad i waited in a queue for 6 hours and couldn't get any. sick video
feels kinda like a slap in the face covering these when i fraction of magic players had a chance to get them
I wish you had done this one much earlier. I tried to go and buy it the instant this podcast dropped and they were already sold out.
How's it going? Well my friends the horrors persist, but I might as well have a -1/-1 counter on me because so do I.
Storm seems like she's going to be a lot of fun if people can break away from the typical extra turn/combat shenanigans. While it's obviously a strong strategy, it's just so tired and predictable at this point. She is the one I'm most excited to brew some jankyness with though
I am happy to have gotten all five of them this time around. My Sister, her two kids and myself will be holding a "raffle" to decide which deck we build, and once those decks are built we'll roll to see who gets which deck for a month or two long tournament. Should be fun!
Storm with Prologue to Phyresis (theme it as nano-sentinels). Its a win condition at storm count 9, or an early cantrip that turns other draw spells like Tezzeret's Gambit or Steady Progress into storm wincons.
