Yeeeesss I loved this reaction!!!! DPR Ian is so underrated. Christian's music has many different sounds because a lot of his music is built in this universe that tells the story of how he navigates his Bipolar Disorder and DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder). He has several "characters" in this universe that represent his alters from his DID. DID is a disorder where a person can experience a big trauma in childhood and so to protect them the brain splits into different "alters" or separate personalities, which is a more casual way of describing it. When a different alter is in control, the other alters get "hidden" so there are times Ian "wakes up" and doesn't remember days or weeks because there was another alter in charge. Regarding his Bipolar Disorder, he also experiences manic highs and lows as well and these states intersect with his alters. When you start to understand that aspect of how he sees the world, I feel like it opens up a whole other dimension to his music. This is also why his music can change genres a bit sometimes because sometimes it's Ian making it and sometimes it's an alter. For instance, his song "Skins" is a song by his alter named MITO. Ian said he "woke up" one day and had no memory of making "Skins", but the song and video had already been recorded and shot. I highly suggest reacting to it, it's a very beautiful and emotionally heavy song. It describes how MITO feels being the alter that holds all the trauma that Ian has experienced. The "Skins" song in the MV is the demo version though, he released it officially on the SAINT album. Despite this, all of Ian's music always sounds so HIM. It's very distinct even in the way his sounds change musically. Ian writes, composes, and produces all of his music as well as being the main editor and director for his music videos. If I remember correctly, he is also the main visual creative/director for other artists in the Dream Perfect Regime company and he has edited and directed for other artists before as well. He has had several lives on Instagram and other platforms where he has gone into detail about what it feels like to live with Bipolar Disorder and DID. I always admire how open he is with his struggles, I know many people find it encouraging and it gives them hope. The way I did it which is from his first release which is so beautiful and go in order of release. There is a reason for it. Or start from his latest release which is saint and follow it all the way up to so beautiful. I just find it easier to start at so beautiful and on all the way up to saint. The next thing you need to know is Ian has bipolar 1 and also DID he has multiple personalities. These songs are videos are of him telling his story. Putting what he goes through into visual. His alters are Mito said like Mite-o. And who you were introduced to in this video which is Mr insanity. He also has a third called the hybrid which we know literally to nothing about. This man is a genius he does everything himself. Writing producing directing all of it is his vision. He’s from Australia. And there is nobody like him at all. I hope you continue on your DPR Ian journey. Oh he’s the co founder of his company DPR him and an artist called DPR live are the co founders of DPR. They have several artists under there company. this is my personal interpretation but the black smokey effect, the butterflies, the wind and the fireflies and any other fantastical parts of this vid that don't appear to make sense all symbolize aspects of the mental illness he lives with - different parts of him that he loves or hates, maybe doesn't understand but also other people don't understand them more - resulting in him symbolically burned at the stake and hunted down. he hasn't had the easiest time in the industry: people taking advantage of him where $$ is concerned, people underestimating him or being prejudiced against him because of the Bipolar, trying to go on tour and the schedule being too much for him....but he keeps coming back and keeps trying and i love him for it. i have never watched the video but his song Ballroom Extravaganza is one of my most played songs ever because his voice is so beautiful. he had two alter egos that make appearances in all of his videos; i believe one of them is shown in the brief clip of him smoking and shirtless. this is not meant as a criticism of you or anyone else who found enjoyment in the viral dance trend from this song. it was a great dance [tbh i thought the girls rocked it more than the guys who did it butttt just my opinion lol]. however for those of us that live with certain mental illnesses, they can be sexualized in a way that is harmful to us. obviously Christian [his real name] had no way of knowing the dance trend or song would go viral but i think it only enhances the overal meaning of the song. thank you for the reaction and being willing to take a chance, even if you don't like vampires!!! ❤ ps. yes the tattoos are real 😁
