- Time for a Full English Breakfast! Today, I'm in West London at Paolo's Cafe. The owner has been working here for 28 years, is a right character and serves up some of the best breakfasts that I've ever had!

Harrods should take a lesson from Paolo`s cafe
Yeah,that Harrods breakfast was shocking,they turned the bacon into leather,such a crime!
From your review, we went to Paulos this morning. Wow, that is probably the best breakfast I have had in London and I have had a few in my 63 years. The place is tiny but lovely, staff great especially the owner. Ordered the full breakfast and the club sandwich, my friend polished off the breakfast but was so full I had to bring half of my sandwich home. This place was worth every penny, we will go back.. thank you..

Wow. That is the most beautiful full English I have ever seen. The quality, the presentation ... and for that price in London. And what a fantastic little atmosphere owned by a real London character. When I´m in London I´m going there!!

@@leechilds3725I reckon it's because people associate full English breakfast with roadside cafes and greasy spoons, so people think of them as very cheap offerings. The idea of paying £15 for many will be impossible to consider, yet to get really good sausages, bacon, tomatoes, eggs...even tea...costs just as much money in total (if not more) than producing a half decent fillet steak dinner - yet people will be more than happy to pay £20 for that.
So I think the thing that makes it difficult to find a really good full English is that in most towns and cities places just can't afford to make a good full English, because they're having to knock one together for £5

Cafes don't struggle to make a fry up most of them buy the cheapest crap from the wholesalers, they don't care as they aren’t the ones eating it.

You are fair, not biased, concise and to the point. Keep up the good work young fella. Great that you reply to your followers. As for the breakfast in this one, pretty good, fresh, quality. Frying pan service good idea, nice and hot and cooking juices kept in. 9/10.

I try to be as fair as possible with no unnecessary extras and keep the videos short as I appreciate not everyone has all the time in the world to be watching me scoff my face with food haha. Aussie here as well. There's a kind of almost innocent enthusiasm that Gary brings to his videos that is really quite endearing and makes them easy to watch, along with the right level of editing. I'm hooked and this is as close to the UK as I'll ever get ....

I tell you what though, having been a breakfast chef it can be a bit of a nightmare getting lots of poached egg orders just because you have to keep changing the water/refreshing the pan and keep them all separated. A few or even several at a time is fine but when you have to cook 20 at once it's nothing short of heroic.

I'm in London on Thursday for a meeting and have to catch an early train to get a decent price, so going to use the saving on my train travel to go to Paulo's for a breakfast - all on the strength of this review. I've never gone to somewhere on the strength of a RUclips review - but thanks to you Gary, now I am.

@@GaryEats I went, as planned, yesterday to Cafe Paulo and it was nothing short of stunning. Sadly it isn't in an area of London that I am close to very often, but I will be back again at some point. It was truly excellent and is somewhere I would never have been aware of had it not been for your honest reviews. Now going to try some other places you've visited, although you do need to do some reviews in and around the East Midlands to save a lot of travelling for me. Keep up the great work - these honest reviews you do are strangely addictive to watch.

For once, I am absolutely speechless. This meal is just beyond belief and to serve it up in the frying pan is a masterstroke - capturing all those gorgeous juices. I don't think it's possible to get better than this mate.

That looks soooooo good and brilliant price too. I'd give it a 10. My first visit to the UK was in 1988 and for breakfast the hotel I was staying at had a serve yourself buffet. Well, to this day I have not had better bacon or Cumberland sausages. You just can't beat a well put together proper English breakfast.

I have found over the years that the very best full English was in an Italian owned cafe,,the particular place ran by a couple who after 50 years retired back to Italy,,,they used to slice their own bacon,,,Eggs cooked perfectly,,tea made by a contraption which resembled part of a traction engine..absolutely wonderful food made with love and passion..
Sometimes I feel silly and when I really do like and enjoy something, I'd say: I'd give it 11 out of 10!! THIS, is certainly one of those occasions. I think that breakfast was out of this world. Not only there is nothing to criticize, but the whole thing has left me full of admiration. Wish Paul the very best of luck and thank you Gary for this great review.

That looks seriously good. Nice to see the white pudding (I'm Irish). Fried bread rarely seems to appear these days, pity. I love bursting my fried egg yolks o. The fried bread. Still, that looked reslly good.

Looks very nice. The problem with cafe breakfasts is that the vast majority get their ingredients from the same mass catering companies. The ones that stand out are easily judged by the sausages and the bacon. You can tell instantly. This is a proper breakfast!!!
By the way, having wholemeal toast to be healthy after eating that lot is a bit pointless 😁😁😁

Now that was worth £15, send this vid to Harrods, that's what a full English should look like, I would of had the mushrooms, but your choice of more of what you like is perfect! I thought I was watching beard meets food for a second, but he probably would of had another 2 or 3 pans, if they were free, when he finished them, lol! Definitely be heading that way when I visit the smoke again! Cracking review Gary! You asked what would you give score wise, by the look of your face it would be 11 out 10 from me!! I forgot to say, smoked back bacon as well and not a measly one rasher!
Hi Deadman. Yes when you compare it to Harrods... for the value it's complete night and day. Paolo's Cafe is absolutely excellent and the portions are huge. Beard is the only other RUclipsr I have time to watch and I reckon he could eat about 4 of those and it not touch the sides. Thanks my friend and have a good weekend :)

I can certainly tell that Cafe Paolo's Full English breakfast is absolutely delectable in every single way. I'm currently on the 11-stone line, as I have been for the past two years for my 5-foot 6.5-inch height. Just give me another two to three stone down, and I will be scoffing that magnificent piece of culinary goodness up once I get there in person. Cheers, and stay awesome, sir.

Amazing Full English Breakfast - more accurately Full 'Family' Breakfast as it was enough for 2 adults and 1 child. It must have been delicious if you finished it all! Well Done Gary! 😇

Up here in Yorkshire when I'm mountain biking with my mates, one of the joys and anticipations are the cafes we find and go back to time and time again because they are so good!

Flippin' heck! That looks just outstanding! As a Canadian, a big breakfast here (pretty much all of North America) relies heavily on a potato component, so it's interesting to me to see more protein than carbs going on. Love it either way!!!

Its Independant and the owner cares, not always the case, harrods the chefs are just earning a wage and are doing more volume, this place is quieter so quality can be higher and attention to detail, looked brilliant!

If he is paying VAT which is 20%, he only gets £11.50, the rest is tax that has to pay , even though he is not allowed to show it on the bill, and most people don't even know it.

The colour of the yolk all depends on the food the chickens eat, not how fresh the eggs are...

@@ngatiramona you can have a perfectly fresh egg with a pale yolk, I prefer to buy organic eggs which (hopefully) have had no artificial colourants in the feed... 👍
All eggs in NZ are free-range now which has bumped up the price.
That breakfast looked amazing..whenever I’m in London I’m allways on the lookout for a good breakfast and I’ll definitely be giving this one a go when I’m next there..I’ve had one served in a frying pan before and my brother and myself allways say it was one of the best breakfasts ever..it was at a cafe called dobar on green lane next to Manor House tube station..it would be good to see you try that one and to compare them…another great video Gary and I’m enjoying watching them all..cheers

Hi Gary, a comment from north of the border. I suggest the cafe guys look at Lorne sausage, we call it square slice, Scottish black pudding, a wee bit spicier than English, and potato scones. They can call it British breakfast if they want, but it would add another dimension to a great breakfast. Either way, English breakfasts are good, tea makes it great. 🎉.

I dont rate that square sausage unfortunately definitely not my cuppa tea but them tattie scones are the best on a Scots brekkie had some great breakfast in Scotland during my travels just dont like the square sausage 😂😂😂😂😂
@@gazzalad8901 I think it’s a bit like haggis, once you get it, there is nothing like it. A roll in sausage in Scotland will always be with square. Both pork and beef links are also fantastic, just different.

IMO it beats Terry's all day long.I too absolutely love white pudding and it's rare to see it on a menu in the UK. At first I thought £15 for a fry up was pricey but once I saw what you got I have to say it's a fair price for the amount of food u got. Looking forward to the next vid Gary!
BTW - The majority of your vids have been to places that are highly rated/recommended - I'd like to see you review some eateries that have a low rating review to see your perspective - and for the fun factor of how bad they maybe.

Never has the phrase 'Eat Breakfast like a King' been so apt! Great video Gary. Even better breakfast. Rare to find white pudding on a full English option down south I'd say. Beans served in a pot as they should be so as not to cross contaminate. Do you recall if the cafe served Kippers and Kedgeree? Surely the sign of proper breakfast joint? Also, were you offered sauces? I know the purists will say they dilute the flavours etc but just wondering if HP was available to you?

Aww Gary, you reminded me of the proverbial 'kid in a sweet shop' hahaha. Gotta say that was some breakfast. Looked absolutely delicious and good value for money. Couldn't imagine you'd want any lunch after that one! What a lovely place to dine out. A Full English is my all time favourite meal and that one looked unbelievably good! Give me a slice (or two) of fried bread with that and I’d be in heaven. Cheers for showcasing that beauty of a breakfast, definitely 10/10 👏🏼

Even though I've commented before, after looking at that amount of quality food and the amazing price I couldn't resist. I'm drooling and wanting to reach in and sample everything in that pan. You should have tried his Mexican Chorizo and Potato hash which has onions and peppers all fried up together with a couple of fried eggs or you can have them cracked over it and it comes in that big frying pan. Then he does really nice waffles as well and I mean they are proper !
That looks soooo yummy😋 love the presentation, the frying pan and the beans in a separate bowl vs in the same plate which i can imagine will make the rest soggy, then again it was probably the trad way of serving it. Definitely will try this when i visit this place😊

Gary. Great channel, thank you. Don't worry about the negative comments. There is nothing wrong in you making some money through your channel. It is no different to any business making a profit. I used to work in London and so many of your reviews are a bit of a walk down memory lane. If you are travelling north and come via the M11 and A14/M6 then I would recommend stopping at Herbies American Diner, near to Swavesey, Cambridge (its actually an old Little Chef and sits on the local road that runs alongside the A14 near to Cambridge Services). The ribs are wonderful and the milkshakes awesome. Good reviews, 4.8/5 on Facebook, 4.5 on Trip Advisor. Kind regards. Steve

That was an amazing looking breakfast and great that it was served in a frying pan/skillet to keep it hot. That quantity and quality, £15 is a very good price. Wouldn't need lunch after that!
