- During acceleration , due to linear inertia changes, the car will rotate backwards around the center of gravity, therefore lifting front of the car and diving of the rear.In order to prevent this rotation from happening or to limit the amount of rotation ,an opposing force needs to be applied to the center of gravity. This opposing force comes in the form of anti-geometry.
Anti-Squat is a suspension geometry that affects the amount of rear suspension deflection when the car accelerates.
In this video you will learn :-
1) What is Anti-squat suspension geometry ?
2) How to set-up and calculate Anti-Squat ?
3) Traction in Anti-Squat geometry.
4) What % of Anti-Squat is Preferred in different Categories of vehicle?

Great videos… I just noticed that the desert racing truck you have pictured is one that I designed back in 2004
What a nice video, explanations, math and clarity! Greetings from Mexico!
Thank you so much!
Can you plz tell me from where did u refer the percentages for anti squat for the examples thst you gave in this video
awesome
thanks alot, it took me a long time to find that formula but i never understood it completely, until then.
Glad it helped!
nicely explained
Hi there how do you calculate centre of gravity and the anti-squat before you build a car for dirt racing? only starting with a certain wheel base, Front engined RWD car?
Could you reference the anti-squat percentage cases?
Great work ! if you will be consistent , within 5 years its is goint to reach 1 million subscribers because more and more students are using online classes and more startups are increasing in numbers related to technologies in india !
Thank you
What happen if I have a parallel geometry when I draw the projection?
Nice video! Do you have any literature about the relation with AntiSquat and the type of vehicles that use it?
Thanks!
For the relation you can check from the book:- Milliken and Milliken (Vehicle dynamics)
Thank you!
Ok, but what about other types of suspensions like Live axles or De Dion Tubes?
If anti squat is for rear wheels while acceleration, anti dive is for front wheels while braking. Then what is anti pitch?
How can we contact you?
You missed the most prevalent anti-squat system vehicles in the world, Motorcyles. Bikes have the most advances in anti-squat technology.
What percentage of anti-squat would you recommend for a medium to high-performance street car somewhere in between a Mercedes SL500/Dodge Challenger and a Dodge Viper? This car must be versatile in it's application, as it's going to be drifted, drag-raced, track driven, and daily driven/long-distance touring. Drag racing typically wants 100% anti-squat for bias ply slicks, and can make use of MORE than 100% anti-squat for drag radials, but IDK what the other categories of driving want to be ideal.
Well, you just said so, so okay. Though I guess I might re-iterate: What's ideal for my proposed application?
100% is my guess!
Damn dude, I'm more reading and watching than listening. I mean thanks for the content :) seriously it is somewhat clear and It's what i'm here for. But idk, in India you had a lot of british occupants. Is the english you speak a way to spit on your former oppressors? If it's that, you have my full endorsement. Otherwise dude I'm tellin you as an italian, your accent is devastating my braincells. It's litterally better to watch it mute, wasn't that I tried and almost fell asleep in 10 mins
Accent is very difficult to understand
