Kenya has the second largest Indian community in Africa, after South Africa. In 2015, there were around 100,000 Indians in Kenya, which is 0.3% of the total population. The majority of Indians live in the major urban areas of Nairobi and Mombasa, with a minority living in rural areas. if you enjoyed content, kindly hit that like 👍 button and subscribe. Correction, SA has 1.56 millions Indians and Nigeria is second with 800M. Why focus on 0.30% of population, the presence of Indians in Kenya is always blown out proportion, in a country of 55 million people 100K is nothing, there are even those who claim Indians own Kenya. There are few Indians who do manufacturing and construction, majority are into whole stores, those who used to do retail have left, outcompeted by locals. When it comes to black ownership and locally manufacturing industries Kenya is one of the highest in Kenya. Kenya has a large number farmers who are upper middle class and upper class

@@andeyo1 thanks for the update on the population. I don’t think focusing on humans who are a huge part of the diversity and the most recent tribe is “nothing”. I also disagree that it is blown out of proportion. As an African myself, I didn’t know about them and I recently learned so I’m sharing it to the world. Most westerners can’t even name 5 countries in Africa so I’m pretty sure many people have no idea about this new tribe. It is important and not “nothing”. Thanks for watching!

His biography states that his father, Yashvir Sunak, was born and raised in the Colony and Protectorate of Kenya, which is present-day Kenya. I have Indian Kenyan neighbors in the Upper Eastern region of Kenya. They have truly integrated into the local community, and some have even married locals. These individuals speak the local languages fluently while still preserving their own cultural identity, native language, and faith.

A lot of Indians came to African countries for work during British colonization. When they were no longer needed, the British didn't pay for their fares back to India as they had promised. So many Indians just stayed because they didn't have money to go back to India. Indians from that time are found in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and South Africa. Many have become citizens of these African countries.
Also, there are Christians in India, Catholics and Protestants, they are religous minorities (2.3%) but they are there. The apostle Thomas is known to have gone to India to share the gospel there.

I think she wasn't even asked the most fundamental question like the nature of God that the Hindus believe in. She represents the naivety and incompetence of an average Hindu woman who can't tell or convince people about their entire religious tradition. It is irrespective of the fact that the Hinduism has the unarguably the most sophisticated conception of God as Brahman as mentioned in the Vedas. Christians worshipping a human being called Jesus and Muslims killing the Kafirs for Muhammad as a prophet subvert the basic concept of God.

An extremely informative vlog, your best yet in my view. I watched it over three days, and would have watched more. I'm Jamaican so anything about the motherland attracts my interest. There is just so much to unpack.
First, I wish the African residents in India, the Siddis, enjoyed as much acceptance. Generally, the Indian presence in Africa, is a relative success, when compared to the British playing God, and imposing their will on other innocent peoples around the globe. Case in point, the Jews in Palestine, the Rohingyas in Myanmar, enslavement of my African ancestors, and countless other atrocities and violations.
In praise of your efforts as a vlogger, were I 45 years younger, I would certainly entertain thoughts of relocating to the motherland, and Kenya especially. Kenya's standards compared to Ghana and others, are very impressive, despite the atrocities endured.

Ivan there is a heavy Indian presence in the West Indies and South America. In Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Suriname and some in Jamaica and Belize as well in Africa where they were taken to Kenya, South Africa and the Mauritius Islands. The British imported Indians under contract from India as indentured laborers after Slavery was abolished because the formerly Enslaved Africans refused to work on the sugar plantations even if they would be paid to do so. They also worked to help the British to build the Railroads in Africa. The terms of the contract was for a period of five years and they were promised a return trip back to India. Some eventually returned but most stayed the majority of which were of the Dalits or what was considered from the lower cast. The indentured service was also offered to Portuguese from Madeira and Cape Verde and Chinese a well at different period. The indentured labors were able to keep their name , culture, religion and to some extent language as opposed to what was not afforded the formerly enslaved Africans.

Your info on the Indian Indentured Labourers to British Guiana by saying the majority were Dalits is very very wrong/ Unfounded.
I never heard that word in Guyana at all. Until saw it on the Internet about 8 - 10 yrs ago
Can I ask u a few questions to back up how u came up with that description?
      1. From which State or States in India, that said majority you described came from to Guyana?
      2. What language was their Mother Tongue?
      3. Which old records/authentic source show that majority were Dalits?
Usually these records are kept in National archives.
Is it from there you got your info?
Who wrote the History on said Majority you stated, in question?

The Indian Indentured Labourers to British Guiana were brought from many different States of Bharat/ India.
However, mainly, MAJORITY came from the Agricultural Districts of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, India.
Whom were Bhojpuri speaking (mother tongue) and from the Ahir caste: Farmers in India.

And are you OK with this? These other nations who are in Africa for more than one generation are quite at home in Africa but the Siddis - Africans in India after 500 years, are STILL treated like outsiders and when they speak the native common language, Indians are shocked and ask how they come to know that. Plus they suffer apartheid in India (on top of the caste system which exists defacto) - and needless to say the Indians are most inhospitable to them. But you seem quite pleased to welcome these nations to Africa - who treat Africans - in Africa - as though they are 3rd class citizens! When and how will we ever learn, African?

They wanted to protect their Indian Culture. This is a right for any race of People too.
Indians are not racist people. They are industrious n enterprising love to build n show some progress.
I am from the West Indies n loving my Ancestral Indian Culture. Saddened I dont have the Language.
Our Ancestors faced similar struggles n injustices from some anti-Indian racist here also.
This is how they pressured the Indians and forced out communication among them with their own Indian languages: Hindi Bhojpuri, Bengali, Tamil and Urdu
The Indian Culture is very rich n signifcantly great that helps them with guidelines to develop n progress fast.

In case anyone is is curious.
    1. Cast system is social issue not religious. Religiously there are vernas as she described the 4 vernas but they are not birth based and they are not for discimination. It was only a way to define what work how Many ppl are doing and how to do it correctly but later people turned it into discrimination
    2. There is only 1 God in hinduism often refered as "pram brahm" but since the concept of param brahm is so vast thats why it is further divided in several forms of God (different faces but same God) to explain several concepts of nature in easier way. The God in hinduism is actually "nerakar" (without any form) but to understand it better with our limited brain we give it a form. Those who reach higher level of wisdom they do not need a form as They can understand the God in its raw form. The entire motive of hinduism is to understand the ultimate truth (God) and gain salvation (freedom from rebirth). It is famously said by adi shankracharye "brahm satye jag mithya" (only brahm is truth, everything else is illusion or relative reality). We belive that world is as we Want to see it and we are caught in cage of materialistic illusion. Ones u get out of it then u will murge inside param brahm.
To be honest this is a HUGE concent which can not be explained in few words. We belive in different forms of God not different Gods. We worship devinity is different forms as suitable for our own knowledge and nature.
    3. Status of women, men, trans etc is same in hinduism. There is no difference as such. They all can become preasts, warrior what so ever and There are many female preasts in hinduism. There are matrilineal socirties as well. Though largely our society is patriarchal and definetly NOT an ideal hindu society. Places in India which are more impacted by invasions are more patriarchal. Those who are more treditional are less patriarchal.
Differences of sexes is recognized in hinduism same as every other human can be different from each but their souls are not different and thats why there is excuse to take away anyone's human rights. Society is expected to be designed for all not just for men. If due to biology women face more difficulties then it is job of the ruler and society to help them out without taking away their human Rights.
Yes, women can be religious teachers (guru), righi (saints) etc as well. When lord Ram was talking about leaving Ayodhya at that time his father asked Mother Sita to stay back and handle the thrown but She refused to do so and wanted to go with lord Ram. This shows that women are not forbidden from being rulers either. Its not the only example. Yes even at that time society was not ideal but hinduism definetly does not forbids women from taking up any position in society and getting protection is their right not favour. It is famously said in hindu scriptures "where Women are honored, divinity blossoms there, and where women are dishonored, all action no matter how noble remain unfruitful."
Child marriage is also forbidden in hinduism. Women are expected to remain brahmacharyi (celibate) until she turns 18 or 16 if she completes her education early but mostly still she will have to wait till 18 before entering in house holder's life

So in other words there is segregation and racism in Kenya. why would black people from the Caribbean, Europe, America or any other parts of the world want to reside in Kenya other such racist conditions, if people can't live as one in Kenya. Can black people go to India and tell the natives that they are not allowed to live amongst them. NO. This is extremely upsetting and need to change. VARNA is decided on basis of "GUNA" I.e Quality. for example one of biggest Empire - Maurya Empire from SHUDRA caste. Caste is a Portuguese word given by colonizers.
