Hey man what I have noticed here in South Africa is that people prefer reliability over everything else. that's why you find that people who are on a budget or people who are looking for their first car tend to go for the polo vivo because of its reliability, fuel efficiency, cheap maintenance and cheap parts. As for the people who are more financially secured they tend to go for Toyota Lexus,Volvo,Honda,Ford Ranger,Audi Q3 for the added comfort, quality or even speed for the adrenaline seekers.
A little fact most south africans are unaware of is that the CLP motor that comes in the polo vivo is basicly bulletproof these little motors can still perform under extreme wear and tear.
Greetings from Bergvliet, Cape Town. My family have a 2011 mode Ford Figo 1.4 petrol and, to be honest, as a blindperson I would rather take the Polo Vivo over the Figo. The engine doesn't sound as distinct ad I ould like it to be and the exhaust has a bit of a throaty and sporty drone. The ride quality is also not that great either. What I really like about the 1.6l Vw engines in the Golf 4,5 and 6 and in the Polo and Polo vivo is thatI can identify them by a sort of metallic tapping sound in all 4 cylinders, I don't know how else to describe it, and the exhaust is nice and quiet but it gives off a nice deep hum. If I had to buy a Ford Figo though I would take the Fiesta on which it is based rather than taking a straight Figo because of the chances of getting hold of one with the 1.6l petrol engine.

your humor is at the top, great review
I love this review. Good work my guy
I think the popularity is down to the aspiration of owning a Polo. Like you said it’s popular because of the mentality of people copying each other
Literally driving around Monte Vista/Edgemead
And remember it's easy to fix am enjoying my polo now
Thanks for this vid, never expected to find a vid so informative for South Africans, and expecting to buy it... A place for the gun lol
