The Polo GTI is probably the greatest hot hatch we have, but the exorbitant pricing might deter many consumers. It is almost faultless, but a dream car for many might now be too unattainable. Nonetheless, for me, it is a dream.
This vehicle might not be fully kitted but even at R560k, it’s a lot. Perfect car nonetheless.

As an owner of this car, yes it is a bit pricey but it’s totally worth it. Besides the points mentioned in the video as to why it’s a great car, it also retains its value in the long run.
It devalues heavily if you put miles on it.
I agree with you, personalty, I would buy the golf 7 r for the price, VW in general are getting way too expensive

If one is hell bent on buying brand new then the Polo GTI is the only option that makes sense at that price point. If we take second hand cars into consideration then one can look at the Golf 7 GTI/R, BMW m135/128ti/m140, Audi S3/RS3. Personally I would choose a second hand BMW m135 or 128ti.

Totally agree with your final rating. Overall great car, as is expected of a GTI, but there’s a huge disconnect between the car and the price tag.

As a young man in his early 20s, if I opt to buy a GTI, I'm well aware of cheaper cars in the market but am also very intentional about the GTI. It's not cheap but it's definitely fun

VW pricing is absolutely ridiculous anyways even now they recently applied a price increase across all their fleet, we still have a toxic relationship with them though especially with the GTI's we're still buying them. It's really expensive for what it is you can really get a decent Golf 7.5 with that money, yes it's a more than 5 years old model but you'll still have the practicality and fun with it
They'll soon cry tears. If Suzuki ups their game and establish a plant here, improved engines and all the you'll see. Ask Nissan, no one is immune.

You are correct Reba...R600k is a bit much for a Polo. And with the facelift, one expects some tweaks also to the engine....same 160kW tune as the G7 GTi would have been nice. But....they have no competition, so it makes them feel in control and without a challenge. I would opt for a low Mileage G7 GTi for that money.

Having owned a polo tsi for a couple of months now I think the side of this hatch back is not bad its not an suv but bit practical, looking to upgrade to this or golf 7.5 gti

What a great starting song for a very desired can among the young ones. Unfortunately they don't listen to these kind of music. If they did they would make better choices. Many buy these with a Polo Vivo budget actually and suffer the consequences in the end.
Hi Reba , thanks for such a beautiful content. Personally I would still go for the Polo GTI than the Golf 7.5. Its the peace of mind you get from the brand new car than a used golf with 50k mileage and 5years old, secondly its the technology that comes with car, the IQ lights, the heated seats , the climate controls, the upgraded steering wheel and lastly you have a latest car in case you wanna trade it in 2 years time.

My Polo GTI now avg. 5.9L/100KM... when I bought it new in 2019 I used to avg. 9.7L/100KM. It's all about how you drive, heavy foot means heavy fuel costs. I beg to differ on looks though as I prefer my 2019 model with no haptic/touch bollocks for the steering wheel or aircon. Keyless entry is an option btw, I got mine for free from VW because they messed up my order back in the day. About the KW output, overseas they have 152KW and we got stuck with the origianl 147KW due to our crap fuel quality.
Amazing review! You've outdone yourself once again. I'm concerned about the spec of the exact car you reviewed, it's so basic. The push start button can be optioned, the haptic touch steering wheel has been replaced with press buttons recently . In overall I get your point, At R600k it's uncomfortable getting too close to the Golf GTI which is a bigger car. Nice review!

Best review, spot on. VW must improve in terms of technology and lower their pricing. Economy is not good and there are many alternatives out there, good example, Chinese cars

Going purely with what you said, if a new S3,never mind RS3, starts at R1 110 500, surely that could justify this coming at exactly half that. Bit cramped yes but solid perfomance and build quaility. Unless we make a case for all ludicrous pricing be reviewed. Love the channel, feels like a home cooked meal.
I think cars are very expensive in general. This is a perfect car. I think I wish it was more attainable. Circa R500k fully kitted

Goodluck on buying an abused, hammered 2nd hand Golf 7.5. The street attention will always go to the latest model. And yes, you buy a GTi for the streets, nothing else
If I want a Polo. I'd rather buy the R-line kit. Just for the look. 😊😊. Of course I won't have the same performance as the GTI. But it looks very pretty. Buying a second hand sports car is a risky transaction. Because GTI are mostly hammered.

I just got a quotation for insurance for the polo gti, and the cheapest was R3508. All the way to R5k. Hectic.
It does have keyless entry and push button start
Fun fact it does the same 0-100 km/h with the 6C ......6.7 secs so you are right very little evolution with double the price.

My dear Reba am also a VW polo GTi fan, but given an opportunity to buy a car with R600 000.00 I rather buy a Jaecoo 7 because I have a family. Currently am driving polo 8 Highline DSG and previouslyo I was driving polo bujwa 😅

That particular one u reviewing its not a 2024, from late 2023 vw doesn't use touch sensitive buttons on the steering wheel. Mine is a keyless nd has front nd rear cameras. Overseas the same car has over 147kw and u can't compare this with a 6c, this is more like a golf just bit smaller nd detuned, I owned both. After specking mine went just over R620k. I don't think the price is the problem but rather what u get for the price in terms of built quality and extras
I still think R620k is a lot considering where this car is. The one abroad does a little more than ours. (152kW)
I’m just speaking from a value perspective. It’s expensive but they could make a lot more features standard, like a reverse camera and maybe blind spot monitors etc. at this price, it is steep but the car is absolutely perfect. Just think it’s pricey.

R560k for a polo is a lot. For me, I’d probably go for a demo Kia Sportage or T-Roc. They not be as fun as the GTI but they will be fast enough.

Got mine for R420K, pre facelift , and its still good , paying way less .
I agree that car prices are a bit steep because of economy and all, I'm okay with that but my issue with VW is that they'll increase the price twice a year but not features or at least benefits that come with their cars. Just look at the price of the Polo GT for example, 350k and you still don't improved safety features.

There is a difference in the latest Polo GTI. Some come with no sunroof. Some dont. Further goes with the Keyless Start, some are Key Start. Some have Alcantara Interior. Some have Nappa Leather.
So hence the pricing. Its also quite expensive for the local production to manufacture. The Economy is killing all industries...
For a 600k, I will probably buy a swift and a suv/ bakkie in the second hand market

Mine has keyless entry and keyless start, and the reverse camera. It's part of the "DSG Safety Pack" extra I think.

Driving this back to back with a with a Swift Sport, the swift is a proper driver's car, very fun to drive but unless you're a petrolhead swift sport haena that street cred as you said so GTi ke GTi bafwethu...😅

I have to disagree on the price. R600K for what the Polo GTI engine offers is quite reasonable. Considering the segment below it of i20s, 208s, and Polos has crossed R400K. Cars are just expensive but in terms of Value for money the Polo GTI wins imo
