i like this video this was great insight. As a soccer coach I love that you made the link with taking a touch in space as a means to know if he's thinking about the next decision or not. In all Footabll competitions now there's a recently new Statistic that you very much explain, being Xg, and it's counterparts. It essentially "measures the quality of scoring chances and evaluate the likelihood of a shot resulting in a goal. It gives a numerical value to every shot based on various factors to estimate how often similar shots have been scored historically". Idk the magic behind the calculations, but it very much factors in the angle, body part, way in which the build up happened and etc to the calculation, but it's just another analytic thing that took over casual talk. It's really just a tool that calculates chances over a period of time, not necessarily the outcome of a game. It can tell you what team is underperforming or overperforming in goals, it can class a striker as an elite scorer, as he's scoring more than his goals expected. It can also give you the team that created better scoring chances during a game. It's useful if used with the right context of course.

It is a really interesting concept, trying to measure these sort of qualitative chances.
