      I hate to disapoint, but the 7 and 9G tronics are off the table. This is because their controls are paired to the car, part of the drive authorisation process (called FBS), and are embedded in the hydraulic valve body!

      We sure do hope this does catch some well deserved attention and open up doors for people who would like to expand the possibilities of these gearboxes and by extension the vehicles associated with them. Keep in mind this is all open source, open implementation and if someone really wants to they can build their own from scratch.
      Hopefully this kind of open door, grassroots approach to the vehicle modding scene will be more and more prevalent as time goes on.
      (Also yes, there will be assembled boards available for those who either don't have the knowhow, time or just CBA'd to do it themselves.. for a reasonable fee.. 😂)

      We are definitely interested in expanding our testers userbase as wide as we can to hopefully support every iteration of Mercedes that used a 722.6. If you have that platform and would be willing to give testing a shot let us know 😁

    Would there be a way with this TCM to retofit Paddle shifter into a car that doesnt have them. Silly question.... Why does this project exist ?. Is there an issue with the Merc TCM around these years ?. Drivability issues ?. The only Merc ive ever had was a 2016 A220d AMG Line DCT with the 2.2d OM651. When i first got it brand new the DCT was just terrible. Over the 4yrs i had that car it had 12 software updates. Only on the final update 3 years in was the gearbox a delight to use. Clearly the DCT is a whole new ballgame but what it showed me was the poor software development from Mercedes and units being released far too early before they were ready.

    • @RANDASH
      @RANDASH  2 года назад +9

      The 722.6 is always known for grandpa style shifts, and after 10+ years, the gearboxes wear down beyond that which the stock TCM can compensate for. Those are the main reasons

  • @Pg-xs4tr

    Can I use this if I have a standalone ECU?

    • @lexistarchild9367
      @lexistarchild9367 2 года назад +1

      They're really designed to be used with the OEM ECU - not quite like some of the other aftermarket solutions out there for the 722.6/NAG-1
      That being said. if your aftermarket ECU emulates an OEM ECU in operation, execution and CANBUS protocols then you could - because the two modules would assume they're factory original equipment.

    • @lexistarchild9367
      @lexistarchild9367 2 года назад +1

      @@ewyna4380 Yes, this is correct! A lot of our testers are using custom ECU maps AND one of the main goals is to help the 722.6 "keep up" with modified and higher-output-than stock engine tunes. That's the main reason for the transition to the E55 as the main developers platform -- so we can focus more on performance, enhanced shift behavior, speed and overall driver experience -- either in stock or modified vehicles.
