I first went to Miyajima back in 1995 and loved it. Have been back several times but yet to stay overnight, although I’ve seen the Tori lit up. Such a special place indeed. I especially love the view from the peak of Mt Mizen.
I didn't realise you'd never stayed overnight before! We visited and stayed over in September, we arrived on the last ferry in the evening and it was so serene and peaceful, we were shocked by the crowds the next day!!
I say this with nothing but love and excitement: but FINALLY, a new video! I have been following for years, and always look forward to your videos! Miyagima looks amazing! Thank you for taking us along!
This is really taking me back to my October trip to Miyajima and Iwakuni, thank you so much for posting it. And thanks also for inspiring me to visit Iwakuni, I likely wouldn't have known to had you not blogged from there 🙌
I am definitely jealous! I’ve only been to Miyajima once, and I feel like there was so much to see and do that I missed quite a bit. If I ever get back to Japan, it’s absolutely on my list of places to go back to.
Oh wow, you’re from North Carolina. I would have never thought that since you have no Carolina accent whatsoever. I used to live there for a couple years.
Looks like an amazing experience staying overnight and having the island "to yourself" before the crowds! Oh, by the way - could you or anyone try to reccommend a soy sauce, that would go well with sweet things? I saw a vlog of someone once, who had softserve dizzled w soy sauce and Im intrigued.
I loved Miyajima when I visited it many years ago. I can't wait to go back to Japan! Also the deer are relentless, I had two other tourist pulling a deer off me because he wouldn't let go of some plastic packaging I had... he thought there was still food in there 🙈
I'm not sure if it was just my internet connection, but the quality of the video seemed grainy. I've seen Miyajima many times, but sadly the last time we went they were under construction. It looks more beautiful now that they're done. Its so worth in to stay on or near the island for a few nights to take everything in. Did you know there was an aquarium there?
You forgot to mention that the Cafe charges a visitor fee of 550. It's no big deal, but something to mention as I wasn't expecting it when I went after watching the video. Thanks for the sushi recommendation as it was divine! I have always been scared to try different kinds of sushi but totally worth it.
I didn't forget because it wasn't like that before! They probably started to charge a fee because of how busy it is / control patron traffic. I hope you enjoyed your trip!!!! ESPECIALLY THE SUSHIII
Will you finish your house hunting series? Also, you said you did ? "Last night", but didn't film it or even explain it. Can you remember to explain what something is for those of us who want to learn?
Yes house tour is coming ❤️❤️ we had an accident with our visitors in town (everyone is fine!) but they’re trip was extended to almost 3 months. I had to focus my energy into other things during that time. Anyway, thanks for your patience! Everyone is safe and home now so I’m back to filming and editing ❤🎉
@heratlas it's good to hear things are better now. I've been constantly checking thinking youtube wasn't notifying me. You should also do more vending machine videos in your new area.
Hi Caitlin, I'm a Creative Director planning a new video documentary for RUclips on Japan's lifestyle and customs. Your channel just popped up on my feed as I was doing research. Is there any way I could reach out and ask you a few questions about your experience living there? Thanks very much in advance!!
Whatever happened to the end of your house-hunting videos? Your last video closed with you saying "I can't wait to show us the house you chose"....I guess life got in the way...but kind of an abrupt, disappointing end to a life change series we were invested in, oh well
Oh I absolutely dropped the ball! That video is still coming! Our family came to stay, and due to an accident (everyone is fine now!) they’re trip had to be extended longer than we planned ~ almost 3 months.. You’ll probably notice a huge gap from the last time I posted, and the reasons I listed above are because of it. Anyway!! Everyone is safe and home now, so I am able to focus back on work and film again ❤🎉 thank you for sticking around… and your patience!

Miyajima is freaking magical ✨
Really want to stay there overnight, so jealous!
Everything there just seems so wholesome, authentic and clean. What a paradise to explore. Thanks for sharing
Great video! Sending lots of love!
Aw, Miyajima is one of my favorite places I visited as a kid, back when I lived in Iwakuni! Thank you so much for sharing!

Love Miyajima Sushi Tensen! We always take family and friends when they visit.
So beautiful
Beautiful! I'd love to go!

What are the prices like at the pearl shop?
Miss ya. This was a vibe

Thanks for clarifying. I really enjoyed Miyajima and appreciated all your tips, especially the jewelry and sushi place !
@@m.k1354 Yeah I was a little confused when I read your comment like WHAT?? Did you get any jewelry on your trip?

She said she went to the onsen (hot bath) last night. You're not allowed to record in there since everyone is naked.
@@mommymarine1756 Thank you for saying what it was.

This island is where Mrilyn Monroe had visited with her husband for their honeymoon.

@@heratlas no worries, glad everyone's ok :))
OMG SAME!!! I learned more about Japanese medical care than I needed to. But yes everyone is safe now and home
I REALLY wanted to watch this one but holy heck... the AUDIO is so baaaaaad ;_; it goes from ear bleeding volume to completely inaudible.
Do you have or could you make a video on the pricing and how to ship souvenirs and gifts back to the states?
