Ki-44-II otsu is my favorite prop in game. The way it flies, the armament, the way it looks just all works for me. It has very similar flight performance to the one you are flying in this video, but has two fewer 12.7s, and the 40 mm cannons have really bad ballistics, so that's why it's at 3.0.
I'm new to this game maining China's Air and this thing is still ridiculous against 5 BR props. This thing does it all. Fast speed, superb climb rate, insane roll, and excellent turn fighting. You can honestly main this plane up until you hit your first jet and not have any issues.
The Otsu version is super fun with Ground RB , 40mm nade launcher and 2x100kg bomb is enough if you had the ability to tosses the nade launcher and bomb into your target. Great manuver aswell and since it's premium you could use it for grinding the tech tree without worrying about upgrade parts lol
I was grinding this thing and also other planes in the Chinese tree and I loved it so much. Then out of nowhere, I got a talisman for it from one of those reward boxes after you do well in a match. Now I have unlocked amost all the props in its tree. Will never hate this plane.
the i-225 on the ussr tree also has this overrudder mechanic, it is very much a gimmick with you almost going into a flat spin and losing all your energy making people on your tail overshoot instantly but at low altitude and when you have even the tiniest bit of damage its very impractical
I think the reason Mgs with HE rounds feel even stronger than cannons is a combination of exlosive damage being strong in WT, combined with good ballistics and a high rate of Fire. 20mms, especiallly at lower br's usually have Rof around 600-700 rounds/minute, while the mgs on the Ki44 have 900 and the swedish 13.2's a whopping 1080 rpm. It's why the italian breda's are the worst He armed mgs with their low ROF of 700 rounds/min.

The Japanese ones were lower BR as well but after the .50 cal buff (they added the historical he filler) they were doing extremely well. Since a lot more people played the Japanese one than the Chinese it was the ones Gaijin received data talking about over performance, so it got moved up (while the Chinese still retained old data so it stayed at the same BR until now) at least is my theory on it
You may try some Japanese late war props sometime. I promise that they would provide you a great time. Such plane like the Ki-87 and N1K2 are both awesome. If you have time,please give them a try. (and well done for the recent videos! Keep up the good work!

Even at 3.7 in my opinion this gorgeous design is the single most undertiered prop in the entire game. It's max take-off weight is 3 tonnes and it has 1500 HP, no energy fighter can hope to touch it. At the same time it out-turns literally everything except Spitfires you can easily out-climb and Zeros you can easily out-speed. The only reason I can think of that this plane doesn't sit at 4.7 or even higher is because not enough people play it, which doesn't reflect kindly on the WT community as a whole lmao
I think instead of the plane being brain dead easy…it causes players to become brain dead around it because I saw some dumbass opponents there. I play corsairs and 109s mostly and if I see a turn fighter at high alt, which is where I fly, it’s almost an auto kill for me because speed turns turn fighters into badly flying kites and I’ll just outrun them in circles. I used to only turn fight back when the mobile game WarWings was out. Loved that game. But in WT energy fighting is just the way to go for me.
your average player until about br7 will still sit on the deck and try to turnfight anything they see, it's a big part of why US teams are such cancer before jets.
The reason for the low BR (on every Chinese vehicle including GRB) is $$$. The Chinese client has been shut down so now they want to appeal to the huge market this represents. They are overpowered on purpose to snare more Chinese whales. Also, to the detriment of the Western world, the Chinese emigrate at record numbers, fail to integrate properly and maintain their nationalistic fervour in their adoptive nations, so Gaijin can also pitch their overpowered line to these people as well. It's a simple numbers game which Hollywood does as well. Market to a billion people and even 1% uptake means more than most markets elsewhere. Truly pay to win.
Day 33 of asking to play the yak4 at 2.0 Start by a dive directly at q base that has another base clise to it ( 2 bases beside each other) 4 bombs for each Go straight to your base killing some ai on the way with your 7.62 Some planes will come on your back going in a straigh line with minimal evading is recommended and try to hit their engines with ur turret since they have weak engines a damaged one will lead them to crash i return to the airfield with 2 bases with 4 to 5 ai kills and 1 or 2 planes after taking off i go for bases if left but if not i will focus on ground targets cuz aa is the bain of this plane so bombing airfields is not recommended Bonus:do not forget to have smoke always on to piss the enemies 🤣
Man, that thing works at 5.3-6.3 br range, it is some misunderstanding that garbage like zero is 5.0-5.3 but Ki-44-II is 3.7. Ki-44-ii is better than all zero's, a7m, n1k's and raiden's, yet it sits at lower br than all of those planes and thats for japan disadventage as people have to suffer in garbage planes that are currently at 5.0-6.0 when real 6.0 plane is hidden at 3.7 for god known reasons. That thing climbs 28! m/s and 26 m/s at 5000m! Zero can hardly pull 19 m/s at sea level! N1Ks 24-25 m/s! and J2M3 is only better in climb when below 3000 meters as later they are even, and past 4000m Ki44 claps raiden out of the skies. Ki-44 can casually get to 7000 meters on bigger map before even first enemy clashes begin! And it has dive speed of 850 km/h! with little to no compression in elevator! A6M5 can go only 740km/h and N1K past 700km/h will compress beyond any limits that would allow fighting or targeting enemy and Raidens with such speed wont be able to pull out as their elevator compresses past 600km/h to the levels that you will likely just hit the ground, you will be pulling 5 degrees for each 1000m lost. Heck, even Ki-84 loses with Ki-44 in terms of climb rate or turn rate and wins only by its high speed which is enough, but still, and stall speeds? Ki-44 recks havoc among all those planes mentioned, that thing climbs 25 m/s while going 220 km/h IAS! I really REAAAALY wish they add Ki-44-III to the game so it gets high br, since right now i need squad mate to get into high br matches and thats problematic but like 16:1 KD so like yeah, it aint problematic for me, it is enemies that cries when sees me 😂 Gajin is stupid is not they? So japanese 20mm and 30mm (anything above 13.2mm) does no dmg, like noo dmg at all, u can put into someone 150 rounds and they dont care. its bit better with 30mm as it still can and will cut tails and wings, but forget about pilot snipe or engine kill/fires, it does zero shrapnel, so frame center hits dont do shit, Hit a Ta152H with 12, 30mm HE rounds and he shruged that off like nothing, hit a b26 guy in the tail, and tail fall off so yeah, zero consistency nowadays. Only low caliber guns work for japan (for germany for ex. all caliber guns work wonderfull, germany was not hit by realshitter "upgrade")

Gaijin nerfed 1(ONE) american 20mm type (the M3), the AN/M2 is still OP and is still the best 20mm in the game. Japanese 50s might overperform (they don't, they have HE rounds, OBVIOUSLY they gonna hit hard), but almost all american planes in the TT are undertiered as shit, so I guess that makes up for it.

Because the KMT operated Japanese captured aircraft. The Chinese tech tree is great, you are missing out on some undertiered gems by not playing it. My sole reason for playing it is the A-5C Fantan and future F-16.

I have no idea why this thing has lower br than the Japanese one while being pretty much (if not exactly) the same except for way better camo.
Japan is often played by better players, so the stats for vehicles become inflated.

ki-44 is my fuckin jam in air RB. The plane will save your ass, its better than I am as a pilot. the Japanese .50s with air targets, so good!
