Well its an arcade game not real life. No one plays the p51 not because its bad. But because its just boring. I dont want to spend half the match building energy for a couple dives that they might spot and dodge. Just for the bf109 i dived on to outclimb me by 3 times as fast and kill me. Great plane, very boring. Id probably rather have a p36g than a p51 in an arcade match
@@natelav534 PREACH. P36G SUPREMACY. thats what i always bring to sim when I'm flying with my squadron and fly under them to support them. Zero fly up to them? They dive and i turn with them.
sometimes when my enemy zooms away, I turn so that I turn my 6 to them, making some weird movements to make them think I lost sight of them. After that I fly straight for a few seconds to let the enemy close the gap, and they would usually approach from behind slowly without gaining altitude. After the enemy starts firing, they are usually not fast enough to have the time to get away. I nose counter and (most of the time) I dodge their fire and kill them. Note that this tactic only works at relatively low altitude when the enemy has a slight height advantage over you. If an enemy keeps on BnZing you from 400 meters up, staying still for any amount of time is a horrible idea and you should dodge their nose constantly instead of waiting for them to open fire (BnZ attacks are meant to attack enemies from above, so you can't dodge them with a wing profile as large as a zero)
Best part about grinding lower tiers is not having to be as paranoid. At top tier you're not just checking your six, but even popping flares at random just in case.
A6M3 in my opinion is the best (and favourite) Zero in the game, BR for BR. It has all the best characteristics of the Zero at 4.0, where there are more new players who haven't gotten a firm grip on what their and their opponent's planes can and can't do, so people tend to dogfight no matter what plane they're in. Being in an A6M gives you a noticable advantage in a dogfight since you're a UFO that outturns even Spitfires. Everyone wants to dogfight you but don't know you have the "*teleports behind you*" ability. Not only that, the A6M3 has improved speed, roll, and climb compared to the A6M2 mod.11 (I think) as well as 200 cannon rounds instead of the 120 of the mod.11, thus vastly improving the plane's overall combat effectiveness. However, going to the A6M5 is just painful now since it's now 5.0 because people just loooove turnfighting this damn thing, so now it's at a BR where most people outrun, outclimb and outgun you, and players here are now smart enough to not dogfight you*. At this point, you're better off just flying the A7M2 or the Ki-84. Both are substantially faster, have better energy retention, climb and firepower, and only 0.3 BRs higher (at 5.3) *there are still people who dogfight you. At this rate, the Zero will consistently face jets lmao* So overall, A6M3 is the best one since you don't face planes that will run circles around you.
I actually enjoy playing A6m5 much more and doing pretty well in it 😅 manage to get first jet just playing A6m5 , best way to play A6m5 is to do fake Head on and turn on them fast they won't expect you get on they 6 that fast , once you crit them they will do dumb manouver to shake of your aim and they speed 😁

Haven't played WT in about 4 years but even when I did the A6M3 was my go to when I was having a bad day. Even when upteired I felt like I was seal clubbing like a Ki-43-I player in a low tier match. I always prayed for an over cast map with a thick low cloud layer. Id skim the bottom of the clouds every time and wipe the enemy team ground pounding before the side climbers knew what was happening and when they descended below the thick cloud layer I'd already be rearmed and repaired and in the air again to take them on. And I kid you not, the A6M3 is the vehicle (not just aircraft) but the vehicle I have the most kills with.
Well, this game is more historically accurate i believe. The reason why you are made of paper is for that specific reason, the zero two (much like most WW2 Japanese fighter planes) had no fuselage armor so they could turn and be faster then their enemies. You see this everywhere with Japanese war vehicles (except tanks) where they sacrifice armor for speed.
Ah yes, the last not overtiered Zero. The fact that the later A6M3s and A6M5s have a higher BR than way more capable stuff like Ki-84, J2M2 and A7M2 will always amaze me.
I have hundreds of games in zeros in SB/RB/AB battles, the main thing I recommend is using the tracer tracer. You gotta maxamize the HE in the belts for those guns. There really is no sense in having any AP in that plane when HE can 1 shot any wing. This applies to the Japanese 30mm and even the .50 cals in the ki-61s. The 50 cals have HE belts! Those 50s are just as powerful HE as any 20mm HE round in my experience.
I remember selecting the ki-61 for my ground rb lineup because I wanted something matching its BR for anti-bomber duty and being blown away by the power of its .50s. Those things tear through wings like they're paper.
The best part isn't even getting to shoot down fast US planes, it's other turnfighters like Copefires and BV155s. 90% of the time they can't extend away even if they wanted to, and most will just turnfight as usual.
The Ki-108 is a hilarious twin engine when you get guns on target, though tends to overheat its engines without proper management, and is prone to being set on fire.
I got the A6M5 Ko premium back in like 2016/2017 but never really bothered grinding out the Japanese tree. A few months ago, i heard rumours spark up again of the RY's being removed because they werent real in jet form, so set out to grinding. I completed the entire Japanese tree in two days from BR 2.7 where i started from.... the amount of German and US players i completely SHAT on because they tried to boom and zoom or take head ons, only for me to tokyo drift out of the way, pull right back in on their arse and clip their wing or tail off before they even got 50 meters away from me was ridiculous. Such an easy plane to fly if you just have the 5 braincells needed to dodge.
I dont like flying Zeros so much, cus either it's super easy or the enemy just runs away from you. It can be really fun in a furball though The same goes for some spitfires (specially the early ones).
if you like the zeros go back and try the ki-43 I with the upgraded guns or the ki-43 II which comes with 50 cals. the air targets ammo shreds planes at the br and it turns even faster although the ki-43 I is really really slow so you need to bait. super fun plane
Love all of my Ki-43s. They're great planes. They're slow but not near as slow as the Zero in a dive. The issue is wing rip. They can and will wing rip. Too much speed? Wing tears off. If you turn too much, the G-force tears the wing off. Everything the plane does can tear the wings right off the thing. So once you're done dealing with the previous issues, you then deal with the fragility of it! It can't take any hit! All that being said, it is one of the most fun Japanese planes you can play. All the Ki-43s are excellent, love my Ki-43-III.
I have had on multiple occasions gone head on with a zero in something like a P47 neither of us hit and I just dip my nose to extend. Only to look behind me and see 200m behind me the same zero not only close but also keeping speed despite just doing a 180. (I have been away from the game for about a year and forgot how UFOy the Zeros were)
I gotta say my proudest moment so far in war thunder is managing to get on the tail of an a6m3 in a spitfire, those things are terrifying to deal with.
Fora nyone flying the zeroes: load the universal belts for the 20mms. The Tracer belt is a trap, since the tracer HE have less explosive filler than the non-tracer HE rounds. Apparently on the longer-barreled versions of the type 99s, the difference is even bigger.

Oh, the ki-108 is a fun meme of a plane. That big cannon with its stupid fire-rate is just funny. It also turns and handles pretty well, but is not the fastest and doesn't climb amazingly well. It really needs the upgrades to work well, or you have a pretty good chance of missing a bomber-sized target with any shots past the very first one on the big gun.
@@tedarcher9120 Are you thinking of the ki-109? The 109 is the one with the big tank buster, and the 108 has 20mms and a really fast-firing 37mm cannon.
The J2M2 at 4.3 is *insane.* Climbs better than almost anything up to 5.0-5.3, reasonably fast, turns reasonably well; I'm not a particularly great player and my KD is significantly above everything else I've flown at the BR, including the 109 F-4/G-2 and the Zeroes.
While legitimately circling or just sitting on the airfield is a problem, when you're in a position where you had to resupply and now need to take off with enemy fighters nearby, I don't really see what you're *supposed* to do except use the Airfield AA as coverage to just gain altitude. If that BV took off and just flew straight into you he would have been a free kill and he knew it, that thing does not gain altitude easily; I think just landing and J-ing out was the right move, because there was no real chance, but using a tool and abusing a tool are very different things.
I've had people complain that I'm climbing inside my airfield AA range after a resupply. Like I'm supposed to just lose on purpose. Imagine complaining that someone is hiding behind a wall for cover in a shooter game.

Turnfighters are very fun and easy to play in WT because so many people can not fight that instinct of turning with you, they tunnel on you and want to fight you, doesnt matter if you are in the best turn fighter in the game. I had P47s, FW190s and F4Us all turn and burn with me trying to rate fight me in a zero or ki 44. Even in air rb where it says what plane I am using. Later japanese fighters arent even fragile or anything that's a missconception. And the self sealing fueltanks have saved my ass more than in any other fighter.
And just in time for the new battle rating changes...more US planes unilaterally going down in BR, while Japanese planes keep on goin' up. All because US teams are still flying like this against Japan.
An answer to the fighter ground pound problem. It gets points. The game would be really fun if it wasnt for repair costs and the slow RP gains. Alot of people just want to unlock some new planes, or get a jet, and so doing some ground pounding with a fighter is an easy guranteed way to get points compared to fighting the 100th bf109 in a row.
As someone who has grinded out the entirety of Japan, it is quite fun. At least until you get past the Kikka. Then the fun begins. Ki-200-WW2 jet fighting Rooks and Warthogs. Same with all the sabres. Then you get to the T2. Fun to play, but no flares vs all aspect missile spam sucks. Same with the F1. The F-104J was actually pretty fun when you’re not facing F-14s. Then you get to the only 2 planes in the Japanese tree that have flares. The EJ, which is decent but is definitely not that fun due to all the gen 4 fighter around. Then the EJ Kai which can still do pretty well against gen 4 fighters since it has an F-16 radar. Still waiting for a new Japanese premium jet or something.
I never seem to find my groove with the zeros. I know people are doing well in them, or else people wouldn't whine and cause them to be constantly bumped in br, I just never seem to be one of those people. I do enjoy my A7Ms though.
The problem for us teams is that they need altitude to actually play effectively and there's like 3 different planes that can actually outclimb anything. Your choices if you're not playing those planes is sideclimb for 10 minutes or just stay low and try to reverse people. I've been playing a lot of the hispano stang recently and my us tech tree one has about a 0.8 kdr because it fights germany 90% of the time and they ouclimb the shit out of you. My mustang mk1 in the British tree, which is the exact same plane has a 3.8 kdr because for some reason it doesn't fight germany.
yep, basically every us fighter will be outclimbed by almost every nations fighters. The problem with historically accurate planes and the way war thunders maps are set up means that almost all nations will have a large advantage over the us for the sole reason that irl in ww2 the us planes usually had all the time in the world to climb so they prioritized high altitude engines and range while in basically every other front, they had extremely little time to climb or were intercepting stuff.
The Zeros at Rank 3 where my main go during the Persian Tomcat grind, like... seriously, popping from 2 to 5 kills each match and getting those score points was rather easy. The worse thing was obviously the players using Wyverns all the time.
Omg you haven't played Japan?!? You have to play the B7A2 as a fighter, it's a bit heavy but omg is it a blast! It's like the SB2C but it can actually climb. Later japanese fighters arent even fragile or anything that's a missconception. And the self sealing fueltanks have saved my ass more than in any other fighter.
You got new subscriber for the ending
that was a funny looking plane at the end
"Oh boy, it looks like the A6M is still too successful in battles! Time to up BR to 6.3!"
"I don't have much of japan unlocked, only at tier IV"
Me with one 6.0br airplane :(
The JetNoob hath revealed himself
And just in time for the new battle rating changes...more US planes unilaterally going down in BR, while Japanese planes keep on goin' up.
All because US teams are still flying like this against Japan.
Those guns are insane
An answer to the fighter ground pound problem. It gets points. The game would be really fun if it wasnt for repair costs and the slow RP gains. Alot of people just want to unlock some new planes, or get a jet, and so doing some ground pounding with a fighter is an easy guranteed way to get points compared to fighting the 100th bf109 in a row.
What do you range your guns too on the zero
best face reveal
OH GOD i love the zeros its probably my most used plane and yeah it slow as fuck can catch up with anything
You should try chinese ki-44, the best prop fighter in the game. I ground it in about 4 hours, and all chinese low ranks are extremely op
The ki 44 is cracked, started grinding the tree and damn. Too bad the sl reward is kinda low
@@doomge2592 yeah. Maybe the only competition is p-39n, but they nerfed russian premium into the ground. Still got 9 kills in it tho
@@doomge2592 they nerfed the guns sadly, so I probably won't have 6/1 kd for long
Any tips about how to counter spitfires with this?
Turn
Still waiting for a new Japanese premium jet or something.
finally a face reveal awesome video as always my friend
Best A6M ngl. I miss it now. Im going back to it Im starting to hate high tier. Also the 20mm can one shot most fighters.
man’s majestic
it was worth it watching to the end
One of the ends ever
I was up against that Uncle_ojisan guy at 5:15 a few days ago, kinda funny seeing people you recognise in a video
Pew pew
God tier kamikaze 1v1 😂
I never seem to find my groove with the zeros. I know people are doing well in them, or else people wouldn't whine and cause them to be constantly bumped in br, I just never seem to be one of those people. I do enjoy my A7Ms though.
I have like a 6:0 K/D in the Ki-43 lol bought a talisman and grinded the entire Japanese tech tree
Logan Paul wt edition
What is the music at the start of the video called?
Shame about the face reveal though. All jokes aside. Really nice video as always.
My favorite part about playing as US is climbing to 5k and watching my entire team die because they don’t climb
Name of the intro song? Something something polka? I had it once bur lost it
1:15 we're just gonna ignore that aiming
hotel? trivago.
The zeros energy retention got nerfed FYI
A6M3 is the best plane in the game, I think anyway.
Lol. Why they all try to turn with you? If I fly a zero everyone just runs away until my team is dead and then I get triple teamed by P51s. :D
Ayo the FACE REVEAL!!
Lol that ending
The Zeros at Rank 3 where my main go during the Persian Tomcat grind, like... seriously, popping from 2 to 5 kills each match and getting those score points was rather easy. The worse thing was obviously the players using Wyverns all the time.
Wow this looks fun, unlike grinding Sweden with the terrible turn rate of basically all prop planes they have
J20 (Re.2000) and the premium pyörremyrsky. They both turn very well.
i was fuming when they uptiered my only premium, which was the a6m5 ko to 5.0, then it got to 6.0 and people still WILL turnfight the zero lol
I can out turn anyth- *blacks out*
Intro song name?
Omg you haven't played Japan?!? You have to play the B7A2 as a fighter, it's a bit heavy but omg is it a blast! It's like the SB2C but it can actually climb.
Dunking on Xp-50's is a B7A2's favorite pastime.
Edit: I actually despise playing zeros, they are so slow I can never stay with the action, I actually used the B7A2 to get through the Japanese tech tree.
(And I didn't used J2M's because they felt too OP)
pros: climb, turn, without ammo u r ammo
cons: on fire
