i have both xpeak's. i had an empty rear basket installed they sold with the bike and had to slam the brakes on to stop the bike wobbling off the sidewalk just driving over sidewalk bumps at a regular 10-15mph.
it's less dramatic if the basket isn't installed. but having that basket option is literally one of the reasons this bike was purchased.
now lectric is saying to not use baskets. but they are stopping short of a recall.
not sure what I'll end up doing, but i won't be buying lectric ever again.
Put a toe strap there and it will keep the pedal at the ball of your foot.
I really like the Lectric company and am sad to see them slip up on the pedal to fender/wheel distance. I will say they tend to make it right. They sent us (And probably 10k+ others) out hydraulic brakes to replace the old mechanical with a new tire which was a huge surprise. Sure, maybe it was a CYA situation but have been happy with them and hope they get this figured out. Also, Lectric, drop the price of the xp lite already😂 I need 3 of them and they are so expensive.
$599. 🤚
Never drove the XPeak, but I have driven lots of step thru's, and the frame has never been an issue..There is a trade off, for easy access..
Very insightful and well done video. Thank you.
Your welcome. Glad you found it helpful.
Hey, question if you take the fender off the front, do you think that your foot would hit the tire while riding the bike?
Great review - thanks!
Thank you!
Very good video, and very interesting. Of all the step-thru ebikes I have had on my channel, I have not noticed or had any concern about wobble in normal conditions. Just has not come up. But now, after testing a few like you did in the video, I am surprised at how much they can flex when you shake them. But, under normal riding conditions, I have never noticed it, accept with the XPeak.
it's less about flex and more about the oscillation characteristics. if the frame happens to oscillate at a common frequency triggered by regular activity, that's going to be a big problem compared to say, only at a frequency experienced at extreme speed or not at all in normal use.
the xpeak oscillates across a wide range of vibrations that are commonly experienced.
this is a combination of flex and geometry. they happen to work together on the xpeak in exactly the wrong way.
Jeremiah, have you noticed more frame wobble when tire pressures are lower?
Maybe a little more wobble when the tire pressure is lower but not in the frame it’s because the tires have a little more give to them side to side when at a lower pressure.
I eliminated wobble on my xpeak by removing front basket and rack and tightening up the front suspension. I put 15 pounds cargo in rear basket and wobble returned at 16 mph. I have removed rear basket and will do without them. The bike is great otherwise.
Jeremiah when the wobble happens in normal riding, is it just annoying or is it a safety hazard?
It could be a hazard if you’re not holding the handlebars with both hands, other than that it hasn’t really been a problem for me just more of annoyance.
@@JeremiahMcintosh Thanks I thought that was the case, but I wanted your opinion based on your experience with it. Some people have been saying "Run for your life. You're gonna die.
Turning a box frame to a c frame with the battery cutout is bound to increase flex.
Very good review!
Thank you!
Magicycle oscelot pro ?
The Ocelot Pro has hardly any frame flex from my testing and is one of my favorites.
I think Lectric needs to go back to the drawing board on the frame geometry....bike is too damn short........Ride 1Up Beach Cruiser step thru does not have that problem....hmmm..wonder why
I have no skin in the game but after seeing all the reviews I thought the wheelbase was short.
I can’t believe Lectric is still selling these. Every bike they deliver is another potential lawsuit or a bike that has to be recalled. These bikes cannot have much weight on the rear rack and they can have none on the front rack which they have discontinued. The pedal distance cannot be changed and is inherently dangerous. It’s almost criminal to continue to sell a bike with 2 major safety defects. You should not recommend these bikes.
I have a foot of clearance from the pedal to the front tire, on my 20-inch x 4 inch folder. A 1 inch clearance is horribly scary to me. This isn't good, and step thrus frames are very wealthy by design.
I have an MTB where this is a common issue, so I have to move my foot back often, so it is usable but only if you get used to it.
Any step thru style will have some frame wobble. Nice video but you spent too much time on that. It's basic physics. It's also a non-issue for me since I would only get step over versions anyway.
I typically prefer step through bikes and the frame wobble has not ever really bothered me.
@@JeremiahMcintosh I was raised that step thru bikes are for females or people with mobility issues so I will never have one. Personal preference and from a lifetime of programming. 😁
@@thullraven1Have been riding my letric 2.0 for 1200 miles and never experienced a wobble
@@RosinDaddy5280 Good for you. No Step Thru is as stable as a Step Over. Basic Entry Level Physics.
Good video, Jeremiah, Can we invite you to test our product? We have reached out to you for an inquiry
Any vehicle with a small wheelbase will give you a choppy ride, its inherent in the design.
The XPeak is a huge design flaw because of the comapny trying to keep cost down and offer a cheap bike. I would never buy a Lectric bike. So many others that are much nicer and better quality for about the same price. I own a Mokwheel and there is no frame wobble at all. It has a large frame and most likely thicker aluminum frame.
Lectric is insulting the intelligence of their customers. Specially calling a junky 80mm $135 spring fork a $400 Fork. It Lectric won't take them back, I would strip it for parts. The electronics appear to be decent, rims, tires, brakes, maybe the bars,
You can't insult the intelligence of morons that will spend money on these POS low-end crap ebike. And you're wrong; *nothing* on Lectric ebike is _decent._
