    With the 2015 Kia Sedona, Kia is trying to bring good looks and luxury options to the often overlooked minivan segment. Of course Kia would prefer if we referred to the Sedona as a "Multi Purpose Vehicle" in the hopes that folks in my generation will look kindly on the people mover. Whatever you want to call it, the all-new Sedona is easily the best looking option in this category. The look combines the vertical front end found in crossovers with Kia's latest grille design from the K900 sedan and a side profile similar to the average 3-row crossover.
    On the inside the crossover theme continues with a fixed center console that houses the shifter, cupholders and considerably less storage than you will find in your average minivan. Also different from the other minivans are second row seats that aren't removable and don't fold flat into the floor. While this undoubtably makes the Sedona less practical than the competition in some ways, it allows the second row to be more comfortable than the alternatives, most notably the Town & Country and the Grand Caravan.
    Add in more available features and luxury gadgets than your average crossover, a dollop of value vs the Highlander or Durango and the Sedona makes a solid case for shoppers that would not otherwise look at a minivan.

    Our company (private taxi company) recently purchased 20 of the new 2015 KIA Sedonas and we are much more impressed by the interior space and luxurious seats compared to our older 2012/2013 Toyota Siennas.
    The seats are much more luxurious, we can tell a huge difference. And the interior technology is also much more advanced, something you would see more up-segment.

      MilanoFootball The luxurious seats on the 2015 Sedona was a huge surprise to me. KIA really improved the luxury on the new Sedona, it's even more luxurious than the 2015 Odyssey now!

    KIA is a specialist in making larger vehicles, which is why their 2015 Sorento and 2015 Sedona is selling like hotcakes in the US. Here in NYC, the 2015 KIA Sedona is sold out in the 5 dealerships I've been to over the past 2 weeks.

    Alex, great review as are ALL your reviews. I used your reviews to purchase my last two cars (2014 Honda Civic 4dr and 2014 Dodge Durango).
    One note, at 14:50 you say:
    "Out on the road the SIENNA rides like......"
    I know you test so many vehicles they all start to run together, and this review has been out for a while, but figured I'd mention it in case you wanted to fix it with a voice-over "Sedona".
    Please never change your review style...it really is the only review videos I watch unless you haven't reviewed the vehicle I'm interested in.
    Regards,
    Mike

    If you live in europe and you want to buy this car (Kia Carnival), Get the 2.7L engine! It saves a lot money but still keeps the car faster than Opel Astra.
    We have the 2008 version and it is a dream to drive on highway. 4-speed automatic and 2.7L V6. Its very smooth and silent you can even sleep on back seats

    This is an extremely better value than the 70k Tahoe. That similarly equipped is 70k which honestly is not worth it as I find the interior of this far more superior than the Tahoe.

      I agree that the Sedona is better furnished and valued but you can't compare the two. One is a family van the other is a thing mover. 3,500 lbs towing capacity vs 8,500 lbs. A more comparable vehicle would be the Traverse.

    • @AdmiralRustyShackleford
      @AdmiralRustyShackleford 9 лет назад

      Tahoe starts at $45,550 for a 2WD (which is all you need, with good tires it has plenty of weight and a locking differential to get around in snow, I never use the 4WD in my Suburban in snow). The Tahoe/Suburban is a truck, it's built to last. You'd be lucky to get half the miles from a minivan engine/trans as you would from a Tahoe. Nothing wrong with minivans, but I prefer full size SUV's. Load up a van with people/cargo and tow a trailer, it'll struggle with that weight up any sort of hill while a Suburban won't notice it.

    wow, we have a 2011 Kia Sorento SX (bought new in 2011) got 27mpg city and 30mpg+ on long trips @70+ mph; on the OEM Kumho tires. Changed to Firestone tires and still getting 25mpg city and 28mpg+ on long trips @70+ mph. The dealership keeps asking us to trade it in but all of the newer model Kias get worse mileage. Definitely keeping the family Sorento until it dies. Was thinking to get the Sedona minivan in addition to our Sorento, but the mpg is terrible. I drive a 2003 Honda Element (box) and get better mpg that this Sedona...granted, not as much room though and less features; but I DO have AWD which is a nice and can fit bikes or a motorcycle in the back with ease.

  • @evidencebased1
    @evidencebased1 10 лет назад

    I like everything about it except: not being able to remove the 2nd row seats, the shrunk 3rd seat windows, and the sliding door track (would be interesting to see if could have eliminated the track at the bottom of a lower window frame for appearance sake), fake wood steering wheel (I prefer an all leather steering wheel without the hardness of the fake wood). Things I really like are the 360 degree camera view (I test drove a couple Infinitis with that feature which is quite helpful), the heated AND cooled seats, and the center console (more sedan like). I think Kia will sell quite a few to empty nesters who want a bigger carry volume for friends and toys but would still like to have a stylish, comfortable, and maneuverable vehicle.

    Hey alex,do you think that the Japanese and Koreans automakers take over the Minivan Market (Sienna, Odyssey, Quest, Sedona) vs. The american ones (Transit connect?, Grand Caravan, Town & Country?

    • @AAutoBuyersGuide
      @AAutoBuyersGuide  10 лет назад +1

      I would say that the market is still Chrysler's to loose. Half of all the minivans sold are Chrysler/Dodge vans and everyone else is fighting over the other half. Unless Chrysler makes a major blunder with their next gen van I don't see things changing too much.

    I know KIA has come along way along with Hyundai and so much credit to Peter Schreyer or those super designs and to the rest of the team. I just wish KIA would change the style of the LOGO. I was never crazy about FORDS giant BLUE OVAL but this big KIA oval looks Tonka Toy to me. ANy thoughts ?

    • @AAutoBuyersGuide
      @AAutoBuyersGuide  10 лет назад

      Well, you could always opt for the Korean spec Kia logo which is a very stylized "K"

    • @ATRichard
      @ATRichard 9 лет назад

      I agree 100%. Kia's current logo is going to do nothing but remind people of the "old Kia" that didn't offer these very much-improved and competitive products like they do now. It'll end up hampering their sales in the long-run possibly I feel since several of their models, including this new Sedona SXL, can reach well beyond the $40,000-$45,000+ range now. They have a great lineup these days, and I personally love most of their newer models. But idk if the public is warmed up enough to the new Kia yet to just jump and buy a $50,000 one. Time will continue to change that tho I'm sure.

  • @cadsux
    @cadsux 10 лет назад

    Gosh, it's kinda wrong that the 2nd row seats are even better than the driver's seat, since most passengers care little about the driver's comfort. How are we supposed to exile the Mother-in-Law to the rear seats if those may be better than the driver's seat? Just add massage functions seen in some higher end Mercedes Benzs and Bentleys and Kia would be aiming at a higher market segment. I've never been a big fan of modern vans, but I have to admit the Sedona kinda echoes the old van conversions of the 70s and 80s that I liked when I was a kid. Just add airbrush graphics.

      I'm not a huge fan of the built in DVD players in general. I think you can spend the money more wisely aside from that with something like a tablet computer. Alex on Autos I was comparing it to the quest in relative terms of space. The question seemed a little compromised due to the international platform that is use. The Siena and the Odyssey are much larger in comparison. I'm curious to see as far as interior space how the Kia compares to a speaker especially the quest

    • @dragonphire821
      @dragonphire821 10 лет назад

    • @AAutoBuyersGuide
      @AAutoBuyersGuide  10 лет назад +2

      Keith Taylor The Sedona is fairly large as well, you can fit a sheet of plywood behind the front seats which is determining factor for many. I would say the interior quality is easily higher than the top level trims of the Quest or the revised 2015 Sienna.

    • @dragonphire821
      @dragonphire821 10 лет назад

      I haven't seen or heard anything about the revised Toyota as of yet. In the future do you plan on doing a review of that as well I'd be very interested. As said before up to this point the Nissan had the best interior there bodes well for minivan buyers. I fall in the category of owning a crossover . I love my cx9. However I do look at some of the minivan alternatives in a positive light . I don't necessarily need 7 passenger capacity as I only have 2 kids however this space is what I desire. Would love to have a full hybrid B Max here in the USA.

      RUclips tells me that the feeds will not always show every video, which seems dumb to me but I keep being told that everything is working "normally."

    20 mpg??? Pathetic. Vehicles, if you do a little research, were getting 30+ mpg back in the 1930s. We get tons of new toys and gadgets. Now if they could just find a way to stop headlights from UV haze-over...that would be something. Nice looking but the back is ho-hum...just like the others.
