Glad you addressed water going around sides of door, I have a storage place and trying to fix our issues with rain getting in units biggest problem I have is I do all that and water goes around sides of door and along wall. You have to do this perfectly for sure.
Looks good! I did my garage door a few years ago but water would pool up against the rubber seal so I used a grinder and added a half dozen shallow groves from the gasket out to the gravel and now it works fantastic. Just a quick hint in case you have a little high edge and find a puddle during your first big rain.
Just put a threshold seal down and a new seal for the bottom garage door . I also put backer rod into my seal to keep it from going flat and eventually cracking.
I thought about one of these, but we have so much snow run off our vehicles here in Minnesota, in the winter, water would just remain in the garage. Oh, love the chicken 🐔 so homey
Thanks for the review. Garadry is fairly expensive. Wonder how the cheaper brands would fair. BTW, the weather stripping on the left side of the garage door seems about 6" too short (can see light coming in).
My only negative comment is not on the product but the concept of installing a blocking at the door all together. If you are in heavy snowfall area, just imagine the mess your car brings in from the road, most of tires snow will stay on this buffer and what ever falls from the chassis in the garage will create nightmare to clean. Most likely the snow and ice buildup on this buffer will make the door to bounce back and do not close at all without deep cleaning. Maybe in warmer climates will serve the purpose.
I’m kind of worried about the wood frame of the garage door, on the inside, rotting. My regular garage does not have this problem but single garage (right next to it) does.
The floor appears too dirty for the adhesive to take properly. Need to thoroughly clean the floor where the adhesive is applied using hard brush and white spirit, if necessary.
Thank you! I really needed this video. I appreciate the close camera. I would like to know if you’d have more advice, since it’s been a year. I’m in Canada and also preparing for the long winter. I have the exact same problem as you did. I hope I’m strong enough to do this cutting…wish me luck! 😎
I realize that this video is 3 years old and cannot find any follow-up video to evaluate the results of this addition to your garage door seal. Did it work? Did it keep all of the water outside the garage? Have you driven any vehicles across the floor seal and did the seal stay whee it was glued to the floor? Thank your for your response.
you can find better seals with a higher threshold against water for about half the price. if you look. probably will have to have your own caulk though.
nice video but i can't tell if the seal on the garage door is in bad shape? Would you still have the leak problem if the garage door seal was replaced before the GARADRY was installed?
Remember to set the grade of the floor above where the water can easily get in and have a drain so the water goes away. It is easier to prevent water from getting in in the design than trying to prevent it afterward as in this case. Something to consider.
The video is great. My issue is or driveway cement is higher than than the garage door so I need to some how prevent water from coming in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
New door wood be nice....heeee....and the sides leak if the weather strips aren’t doing it...door strip on one side looks bad...never saw this before ...this seems like a nice thing to have....
I don't have the problem with water creeping in so much, but the door does freeze to the ground. My other issue is mice. I put seals up around the sides and top of the door to seal out the weather and mice. But the mice soon nibbled away the seal at the bottom corners.
Mice are such a drag! Nothing beats a good Barn cat. There is a group of people called the feral cat Society. They rescue feral cats, spay or neuter them, and sell them to people for under forty bucks with the hopes that the cats get an extra shot at Living. Good luck!
I would imagine that sprinkling a little bit of rock salt under the door might help the ice issue. I am building a shop over the next two years. Do you think the salt would help?
@@salazarpayne3784 Wondering if the seal in this video would make any difference or if the ice would just stick to it too, guess we will see how it goes this winter for the Martian. I think I'll try cleaning the bottom seal and then rubbing some silicone grease onto it, just before winter.
@@salazarpayne3784 Salt is not friendly to concrete. If you must use chemicals, there are some that don't attack the concrete, urea comes to mind but there are others.
I have a sliding door for my workshop. Do you think this would work the same way? I have to slightly pull the door into the workshop while sliding it so it can close.
You did not give the rise dimension for the new product installed... nor did you demonstrate after installation that it is indeed waterproof. Please to advise.
Do you suppose that huge gap in the bottom seal will let any water through? Just thinking maybe a more complete solution is in order for that old door. But cool product. Maybe an update to see how it faired over the summer would be good.
I thought the chicken strolling thru was a nice touch. I see that I'm not the only one who appreciates a little fowl. Now it's my turn to try to replace the strip on the bottom of the door, maybe what you did later if necessary. Thanks
the rubber seal on the bottom of the garage door on the LEFT side was shifted 3 or 4 inches. That is why you have stuff going into the garage. I would have gotten a replacement seal and not applied this thing to your threshold. Even with the threshold thing glued down, there was still sunlight getting through the bottom left side of the door... so this product didn't nothing...
I would not recommend for side entrance garages unless you can pull straight in and out. Any turning of the wheels will cause the adhesive to loose it’s grip.
Gotta patch it. I had to do that with one of my doors because when I moved in, it looks like someone chipped a bunch of the floor. Mice were getting in because the seal on the bottom wasn't even making full contact due to chippage.
I prefer a seal on the door itself that moves up and out of the way not leaving that ridge to drive over and making it hard to blow or sweep stuff out of the garage, plus I don't think it would stay down very long with heavy traffic from daily use. No thanks!
I just put one in.16ft. and the liquid nails they recommended didn't dry.The end where it was rolled up was damaged.Could not get it to stay down.Tried pulling up the end and it came up like it was never glued.
Damn it, I Keep searching for ways to stop carport flooding and EVERY video on RUclips mentions Garage doors. Anyone got a solution for open ended carports?
You need a huge positive air flow there Barney. Mount a jet engine inside the carport, aiming the propulsion end toward the carport opening. Nearly any jet engine should be capable for this application.
This is a waste, it may work for you that you don’t use a garage for its purpose, but 99% of us park the car IN the garage, especially in the winter, so what about the snow melting from the car when you come home?
Update? It would be great if you let us know how happy you are with the product currently.
I am glad to see the OSHA chicken is on the job keeping you safe.

Hi from Canada 🇨🇦… that is exactly what I have to do❤Thanks
Hope you give us an update on this in or after winter. I can relate to the continuous preparation for Winter. And it never quite gets all done.

So how is it holding up ? Is adhesives still bounded ?

Shoot I need to get those blocks I got big ole gaps between the door corner and wall.

Liked the video. But I missed how you lined up the strip to the floor marking!
I think I would have power washed the floor first.
What is the clicking in the back not clucking.

Yes...very well in fact
So how does the water (like from snow-melt off your car) get OUT of the garage if there is no drain???
Squeege and manpower. He has probably learned not to pull in garage with snow covered car
You need a French drain, there's no substitute.
👍
Would love to hear if this worked for you in the past year. Any updates?
Mine was to short didn't give me enough to reach the tracks.
Why don't you put the doors down while it drys?

Yes, that is my concern too.
Just wondering if that is daylight peeking through on the bottom left at 8:07? Good video.
Yes, the door's bottom-seal has shrunken with age.
I was seeing that same gap and I would like you would fix the door seal first.

The only problem with the seal you installed......is all of the Seahawk stuff around it. Won't seal properly now.
Curious if a French Drain would be recommended also ...
Ok, so you are on the steps. I didn't get the instructions, which direction does the smoth side go 🤔
