One of the things I love about Alex is that he just kinda stumbles across some of the best cycles and autos ... Dude, you are better than a lot of "dedicated" car channels. At first glance one may not think Alex is knowledgeable enough to restore a Caddy or a Rolls or a Porsche -- that is what makes him a true car guy - he knows way more than you'd think he does and way more than some guys trying to be a "car channel" .
I am gonna love this one! My first car was a 1974 Alfa Spyder that within a year met the same fate but there was no way mine ever ran again. Lucky to have walked away from that wreck and the tree lived also.
Australian sticker flag. Has an extra star. New Zealand only has the southern cross. How exciting, a friend's boyfriend imported one of those from USA many years ago. But not a wreck.
This will be very interesting, Alex. This is a very involved job. You have the contacts in that area for getting it straight. Scott, Al, Matt et al. I just hope they are not too busy to be able to fit you in. Love the little red Alfa. What a cutie. All the best, Mart in England.
I have watched Robby Layton Autobody (Utah) on RUclips use his frame straightening machine. Very interesting. The tools he uses to correct accident damage is pretty cool too. Have watched him completely dismantle cars just to fully determine just what is damaged. Hidden stuff can be the deal breaker. Kudos to you for tackling this treasure!!
You got this Alexander. Another vintage auto. Just a little duck tape and a coat hanger or two and it's back on the rally circuit. At least no mice or squirrels 😂.
The buckle in the floor would make me doubt whether it was just bodywork. That sounds more like chassis/frame. You're one brave soul to take this on. I'm sure it'll turn out great! Working on 2 cars at the mo myself (1975 Puma GTE and 1937 Opel Olympia). Always, always love your car projects.
That will look awesome fixed up. Make sure to check the steering column for cracks. My dad had a 60's Dodge van he bought new then was involved in a very minor front collision. I was in the van w/him. It drove fine then one day. lucky we were on a side road, the steering wheel just went round and round, no steering. Unknown to anyone It was slightly cracked in the accident, then just got worse over time.
James Fox played the lead in Day of the Jackal, a terrific film. There's a scene where he resprays the Alfa "in the wild" with a 12V gun changing the color to throw off his pursuers. Michel Landon, another superb actor is tasked with tracking him down and preventing DeGaulle's assassination. Like all good thrillers, the outcome comes down to a two second difference between success and failure.
I once bought a Volvo that someone let their cats live in. It got parted out but only because of the smell. The car was impeccable and I hated every bolt and part I removed because it was so nice. Slick top 1984 245, for reference.
In 84 I bought my first Ghia. It was a 74 convertible, ugh green and of course a smooshed in nose! It was an Ohio car and the pans were just wasted, you could actually see the road underneath you, softball size hole 😂. Fixed it up years later and must of really been off my rocker cause I sold it 😢. What a dummy was. Hood luck on your restore bro.
Alexander never fail to amaze me. Taking where others would think it’s junk and making it better. I look forward to this series too. Happy new year to you and your family. Your children are growing up so fast. Wishing you good luck with this vehicle.💕
Hah! I thought it was a Sprint Special from the sneak peek we got a few days ago. Beautiful cars Alex! I'm really looking forward to seeing what you make of this little Alfa. Thanks for bringing us along.
This will be very entertainingly interesting for myself. I love vintage vehicles. Though , moreso towards vintage convertibles , vintage station wagons , vintage trucks and vintage American coupe muscle cars. I had come to love and respect old vintage vehicles after my Dad had restored my own 1972 Ford Mustang Boss as gift to myself awhile he had also taught me to repair my own engine as mechanic who wanted me to know how to do so in case of emergency breakdown by myself before we had smartphones. He had liked all of his children to be prepared for anything in life including his only daughter who might not have anyone to help herself from repairs to self defense with Korean martial arts and weapons as U.S. Army veteran. He had definitely believed towards self-reliant in life. Funny enough that I know more about engines and martial arts than my own adopted Korean hubby. I am one who is usually correct on what's wrong with our vehicles if they have emergency breakdown. ❤
@kathyblain5544 My Dad had actually known I wanted to do mechanic classes in school but my Mom was against it and signed me up to typing class. So , he had gotten around it by teaching myself personally himself along with he wanted me to be self-reliant in life if the situation is needed. ❤
We don’t understand how 3 very desirable vintage motorcycle (ok 2 vintage and one relative modern) plus money , is worth a very wrecked Alfa Romero that you don’t know if it starts , or can be a good enough car to drive, plus all the many , many, parts you need to buy, to replace what is or is not on this car, plus of course your time( but that’s fun)……we think you lost big time, but yes it will be fun to try and work on.
Those Giuliettas were great cars! And it should be worth saving it as their values have risen to amazing amounts. Actually there were mainly 1.3 l. The 1.6 is even more sought after. But sourcing all the body parts will not be an easy task and those parts will not be cheap! I will search the internet out of pure curiosity. I own a 1966 Duetto 1.6 and I love this car. I used to work in a body shop for several years and this car should actually be savable.
Edward Fox played in Day of the Jackal, he was the Jackal. I loved that car when I was a kid, definitely a car worth saving as they’re a ton of fun to drive.
Hey Alex, you were close with the sticker. It is Australia not our cousins from across the pond, New Zealand. The difference is the stars, our flag has white stars with a large federation star with a point for each state. The Kiwi flag has red stars. Nice old Alfa and probably easier for us big feet people being a LHD. All the RHD Alfa's I have tried to drive have the brake and clutch too close.
That alot of ambition to fix that car and wish you all best. The bend in the floor scares me and makes worry about chasse issues. You got friends that can help though. Wishing you all best in this new year.
This vehicle has quite a high mileage for sitting since the Eighties. And seeing the front you can see that the car was already quite rusty or probaly damaged befor the big bang happened. The trunklid is quite crusty as well. Unfortunately those Alfa Romeos were rust buckets. But still absolutely classy vehicles. I wish I could se how rusty the car is underneath.
This is awesome. I hope it doesn't take you as nice eating Car, I enjoy your videos. I hope you all have a amazing holiday And I look forward to the new year with you all😊
Hi Alex, I just watch your video. Wow, I am soooo happy and excited for you!! Lol I wonder if I cold come over to help with the restoration!! I love your car! I am in California... but we can make it work lol oh man I wish I could .!! Wishing you the best outcome!! (Let me know how I could help) lol 😅
Love the channel, and excited to follow this new series. Just one input, a selfish one maybe. Would it be an idea to show more of the actual work? On the videos I have watched lately, it has been more like a talk-show with some work done. Might be wrong, but would love to see more work on the ended camper-series, this series etc.
My friend Giulio owned a Giulia spider just like this...Hmmm I would not be surprised if this was his old car, I recall in Toronto around 1990 he still owned it, if anyone will get to the bottom of this Gem's history it will be our friend Alex, can't wait to see the end result, seems a lot of people don't like the new Intro, but I do because change is good.
The sound seems out of sync on this intro--probably because it was dubbed over part of the old video. Can't wait for the restoration to begin in earnest, though.

I came looking for this comment. I'm not ozzie or kiwi but I figured someone would correct him so I came to updoot your comment.
We (Aussies) have TWO extra stars (the other is in the Southern Cross), and they are all white, as opposed to the NZ red with white outlines.
Came here to say the same thing from a South Aussie 🇦🇺
I also came here to see if Alex was corrected. I gasped at the casual NZ flag comment.
Alex never mosses a beat, but that comment made him human 😅
@@paquitagillis901 His mother once lived in New Zealand so that is why he immediately thinks NZ flag.

Agree! Nice new intro❤
Exciting new video! Looking forward to a new series of fixing up another vehicle.

It was his brother Edward Fox.
Michel Lonsdale was the French Detective. Great movie and I came here to say the same thing.
Alexander,
Happy New Year to you and the family!
Nothing like starting 2024 with a real challenging project, eh?
Cheers,

No mouse poop in the glove compartment. Polish it up, and you're good to go!!

Can’t wait to see Alex take on this beautify. ❤
The sticker on the car is the Australian flag Alex. Going to enjoy this series. Watching from Queensland Australia 😊
Good for Melissa. I'm not into cars, but I do like watching your car videos.😊
You roped me back in Alex! I will watch this series as I restore my 68 GMC 1/2T Fleetside.
Love the new intro!! Its fabulous 👌. If anyone can breathe new life into that car, it's you Alex!!!
Beautiful old cars those 1960s Spiders. Looking forward to this series, Alex!
when i was a little kid my neighbour had one and i wouldn't get in it as i thought there were spiders in it
Logical conclusion for a kiddo! @@stevek6432

I like the updated intro Alex, this rebuild will be interesting to follow.
I had a 1980 Spider in the 80's...
Loved it!
I couldn't fit into one nowadays... sadly...
Thanks for the video, looking forward to those "Alfa " repair videos
Awesome again 🎸🎸 🎸🎸
Will look forward to the next episode.

Yoo Hooo.. looking forward to this story...
I love the car demonstrator model!
You got this Alex...❤❤
Well Alexander, if anyone can fix it, it will be you can’t wait to see the finished product
In "The Last Run" George C. Scott actually drove a 1956 BMW 503 Cabriolet.
Anxious to see what this will look like when finished.
More, more, more! Can't wait for the next episode, and the next. . .! That type of car is so much fun to drive.
Can't wate to see that sweet ride back on the road. You know how to make them look good.
My '66 GTV and I will love watching these episodes!
Super excited to watch how it goes !! You do such good work on cars/ motor homes ect!
Rag tops are always a pain to straighten out!
Hopefully you get a video of the car getting straightened on the frame machine

So nice to see you bring these cars back to life. :o)
I didnt realize you had a red alfa romeo, its a nice car
This is the kind of content I tatted watching your channel for. So excited to see another project!
I love your vision Alex!
That’s gonna be a big job. But it’s going to look fantastic when it’s finished!
That doesn’t look economically viable to me… will be interesting to watch!
Hi Alex, I just watch your video. Wow, I am soooo happy and excited for you!! Lol I wonder if I cold come over to help with the restoration!! I love your car! Another project and it looks interesting. Hopefully this car will come out as nice as the red one!
Thanks for another , Brother !
Love the look of the car can't wait to see it done
Love the new intro!
Looking forward to watching this rebuild, love the alfa.👍
I’m not a car person at all but I love watching Alex restore them.
Too bad you’re not close to Massachusetts. This is right up the alley for Wray Schelin’s ProShaper Workshop.
As always, a great show! Thanks ❤😊

Ihad a 1960's spider, but had a good offer on it and sold it -----now regretably
That front end looks horrible, you’re brave wanting to tackle that.

Don't remove the crumpled sheet metal body shop will pull it to align underhood aprons then drill spot welds install new fender aprons
Awesome little sports car , id fix it and keep it

The engine is sitting right, that's just the way they sit on these cars, leaning to the right.
I just caught the new voice over!!!😂❤
That "New Zealand" sticker is an Australian flag! 🙂
How cool is that model engine!?
I spy Ala Moana Volkswagen license plate frame 🙃
