      Amazing! Great job. I'm sure you feel so much better. I'm in my early 40s and have at times felt like my recent poor health (about 4 years) after contracting Lymes Disease will ruin my life forever. But I know that I can make huge strides with feeling better, and losing the weight I need to, largely with my diet and lifestyle changes.

      Thank you for sharing your story, Sandra. I find it interesting that, when I had diverticulitis in 2022, I was told to avoid red meat thereafter. However, I never believed that red meat had any influence on the diverticulitis. I continue to eat all meats, including red, and I haven't had another episode of diverticultiis since. Raw vegetables are more of a problem for me.

    I'm a child of the 1950s, was a victim of the low fat diet that was prescribed back then. My pediatrician prescribed diet pills for me when I was 8 years old, when I weighed 120 pounds, and told my parents to feed me skim milk. No doubt, insulin resistance has followed me along, and was made worse by low-fat, high-carb eating. I had such huge cravings for carbohydrates. We ate lots of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on white bread, cookies, potato chips, and stuff like that. McDonald's fast food was born not long after me, and our family took advantage of it. I'm so glad there are pioneers like you two, who are not afraid to speak the truth. I've pre-ordered Dr. Bikman's book, and have purchased 6 copies of Dr. Berry's book so far, one for me and others given as gifts.

      Yes I was born in Manhattan in 1951and My dad was a total sugarholic I was allowed to eat sugar everyday all day and I had a large birthday cake every year and ice cream every day My dad lost his teeth I lost mine eventually and I became type 1 diabetic when I was 42 just out of the blue I didn't know a thing about diabetes I just turned 73 June 1st and I've learned so much overall these years but I was a raw vegan mostly for over 30 years thank God I finally thought maybe I should check out this carnivore diet lifestyle and Ken Berry has been a total godsend can't thank him enough raw veganism also gave me a large kidney stone in my left kidney I had to be in the hospital over a week filled with pain medication and they had to do laser surgery on me I could have died I could have lost my kidney but I guess they did a good job getting that kidney stone out but 4 months later a fragment came down and I had to go to that doctor and he said well it might come down on its own well the next day I drink a quart of lemon juice lemon water and I felt it come down and come out of my body so three more years later and I never would have given carnivore thought My younger son would have a fit if I even considered going carnivore He's the one that got me on the raw vegan years ago wanting to help me with my type 1 diabetes he studied Gabriel cousins and hypocrates institute with Brian Clement what a mistake I knew I didn't really like listening to them but he is totally involved in them and what they say he totally believes it I wish I could help him but he would not listen to me he thinks I'm terrible for eating animals wow I got a much better exam they tested my blood my cholesterol's not that bad My high blood pressure is better my A1C is not bad but it's going to get much better I will go back in 3 months and I expect some good results I'm sure there will be but just listen to Ken Berry he's my wonderful doctor oh I fired my doctor a few years ago she was really bad and she thought she knows it all but I said her straight she doesn't know that much so keep listening to Ken and he will lead you down the right road to health and happiness and freedom from the carbs and bad foods that we are bombarded with thank you again to all of you carnivore doctors and people out there it's going to get big real big I can feel it people are going to wake up and wise up to what's going on with their health we must stop feeding the pharmaceutical company

      @@baletha1 Thank you for sharing your story. I agree wholeheartedly with everything you wrote. Did I also mention that I used to be a registered nurse in the old days. It was truly tiring to be dispensing so many drugs to patients who were suffering from chronic diseases that could mostly be controlled or at least helped by better nutrition. I'm still quite angry that doctors don't often mention the carnivore diet, if ever, even to their diabetic patients. I was deemed in my twenties to have hypoglycemia and told that I would likely NEVER have diabetes. Well, I knew then that they were lying to me or that they were ignorant. The "alternative" medicine people explained that hypoglycemia might be a precursor to diabetes, a warning sign. Sure enough, at about 40, I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2 and did need insulin shots for extremely high blood sugars when glyburide wasn't enough. Now, that's a distant memory, controlled mostly by diet with my most recent HbA1c being 5.4. I also take a low dose of metformin, not sure whether it's a 100% great choice or not, considering switching to Berberine, which has some of the same qualities and effects as metformin

I was concerned with the lectins in vegetables, oxalates etc., so decided to give them all a miss. The only thing that has cropped its head again recently is the fact that veggies provided an alkaline base, whereas meat is acidic. Do you have any thoughts on this?

    Thank you. Very good information. My older sister passed away back in 2003 and she had been a diabetic for over 45 yrs (I was born on her 19th birthday). Her diabetes was very, very hard to control and she told me way before she died that there had to be more than two types of diabetes. A year or so later it did come out something about insulin resistance. I was diagnosed with it before she died. I was diet controlled for several years but then I had to go one metformin about 11 yrs ago and that is the worst drug for diabetes! I had to take medicine to control the side effects and a few yrs later was diagnosed with Colitis and that was not fun at all! But then I had to have surgery on my C-5 in a St. Louis hospital. By that evening I could have solid foods and I was brought a non-diabetic meal. Instant white rice with some kind of meat and gravy plus squash plus a bread roll and apple juice. I was given my 1000 of metformin and I only ate the rice and gravy, squash and a piece of zucchini. I ate only 2 bites of the roll. A half hour later nurse comes in and takes my blood sugar. She leaves. And all the while I was on 2 different pain pills and a morphine drip plus a muscle relaxer. I was very aware of myself. I just didn't feel the pain meds but I wasn't in any pain either. Nurse comes back a half hr later and took my blood sugar test and left. Twenty minutes later she comes in with a syringe and insulin. I asked her what she was gonna do with that insulin, she said my BS 237 and I needed insulin to bring it down. Then I said no you are not. You gave me a regular meal and gave me 1000 metformin and if Ilet you give me that insulin I will most like wake up dead! I had my own meter with me and right in front of her I took my BS and it was already down to 157. After that was when I really took over myself. Since going Keto on Oct of 2019 my averages went from about 152 to 114 now. I just had blood work today and I can't wait to see what my A1C is! But being a control freak that I am even on high powered drugs I knew not to let that nurse give me insulin! I'm sorry this is so long but I got carried away. I did work for a local hospital for over 19 yrs and while I only did laundry and housekeeping I knew enough to make sure you are aware of yourself at all time while in the hospital! I had seen enough ofwhat can happen! LCHF is the way to go!

    Why do the plant people keep telling over and over that insulin resistance is caused by dietary fat, when all the evidence points that sugar is the culprit...?

    • @anyajohnson4471
      @anyajohnson4471 16 дней назад

      Because of the Randle Cycle.
      Activation of the Randle Cycle is one cause of insulin resistance. To put this in the context of diet, when you add fat to a high carb diet, you create insulin resistance. Now, if you have made the assumption that humans are meant to be carb fueled you will draw the conclusion that dietary fat causes disease - because it does - in a carb rich diet.
      If you understand that humans are meant to be fat-fueled then you understand that it is the addition of carbs that creates insulin resistance.

    As a 20+ year vegan I would like to say that my reason, and that I believe of most vegans, for choosing this lifestyle is purely on compassionate grounds. I don’t think anaemia is a problem as most vegans understand the supplements they need to take I do love the keto message and I am learning to control my carbs, prioritise my protein and fill up on good fats. Much appreciation to the two doctors. 🙏🙏

      You don't feel any compassion for the thousands of animals farmers had to kill to provide your vegan diet ? How small does any animal have to be before it doesn't "count" morally to a vegan ? Or do vegans just turn a blind eye toward all the squirrels, gophers, moles, birds, and insects farmers kill to protect their crops for harvest ?

    My daughter (46)and I (71 and diabetic) have been on KETO for 23 days. I've only lost 6 lbs. We don't particularly love meat. I tried some Keto recipes that tasted awful (almond flour and mozzarella dough, etc.) My daughter was actually getting nauseated just THINKING about eating Keto. Broccoli and cauliflower wore out the first week though they were previously favorites. We quit today. Fasting for 16 hours and watching portion size is what we are going to do now. My morning sugar went from 283 to 150-160. I'm hoping it will continue to stay lower by eating a little carbs with eating only once a day. We don't mind the fasting as long as that one meal is tasty. I pray I'll be able to stop my diabetic meds in the future.

    • @kirkellis4329
      @kirkellis4329 3 года назад +4

      Did you make the mistake of trimming too much fat off your meat or eating chicken ? Did you try making sauces with lots of butter and cream and garlic to go with your meats and mushrooms ? Bottom line is that if you eat enough good animal fats, you will not be hungry and you will not crave carbs. I eat one meal a day and am just getting hungry 24 hours after my last meal. I bought some almond flour and coconut flour at the beginning, sure I'd miss bread and want to make keto breads, but have not opened either package because I haven't missed bread at all. I used to eat a lot of tortillas, but now I'll make taco meats and use romaine lettuce as a taco shell. I eat eggs more often than I used to as well, so you aren't limited to meats.

    I believe fat increases insulin only if and when insulin is already high.
    However, fat, alone, does not increase insulin.
    I agree with Dr Berry's position on how the presence of fat effects insulin.
    Furthermore, based my own experience, eating lots fat, on a low carb diet, significantly, decreases my insulin 👍😊

    • @ZA-we6ii
      @ZA-we6ii 4 года назад +2

      Your first statement isn't correct, fat don't raise insulin, if your insulin went up because you ate fat, it's whether you had smth with carbs and fat like nuts, or you didn't eat enough fat, so your body had to use protein as energy, that's spike insulin.
