Thanks for sharing. I worked at Cochrane Shipbuilders during the building of Hebridean Isles and was fortunate to be onboard for her sea trials, the only time I managed to sail on her.

Travelled on her a number of times when she was operating from Uig, nice vessel a quantum leap from the predecessors Columba and earlier Hebrides. The old Heb survived 20 years of the Minch, but Heb. Isles is now 40 years old, she has served CalMac well but I think she is now simply worn out and will cost a fortune to refurbish, and with the new vessels from Turkey due to be delivered soon her final journey to the ship graveyard is a sensible decision. R.I.P.

MV Hebridean Isles, which normally operates the Kennacraig to Islay route, will be replaced by the MV Isle of Islay, which is being built in Turkey

@@Scottish_Transport_Explorer Thank you for that information. I wonder why they didn't wait until the MV Isle of Islay was ready?

@@laurastuart3814 It's because MV Hebridean Isles certification expires on the 21th of November and they don't see the point in spending money to renew it when her replacements are just around the corner.
