Yup. When I finished it, my immediate thought was that there are tons of books every year that people get excited about and five years later completely forget exist, this book on the other hand is going to standout as a classic of the genre for a very long time to come. It's less reading and more immersive experience. Also, I suspect 1 in every 2 Booktubers who's read this book has done so compliments of Evie at this point 😂
You’re the Evie of Glen Cook. I have a copy of ‘The Black Company’ coming in the mail thanks to your videos! Looks like I may have to check out this book too.
This greatest compliment I could get on booktube. Thanks! I really hope you like The Black Company! I have not read it yet but Jimenez has also written a space opers novel called The Vanished Birds. It is on my wishlist.
@@JosephReadsBooks I have a good feeling I will! I’ve been enjoying your channel as well, discovered this week and I’m digging the books/series you’re talking about!
@@JosephReadsBooks I’m going through the Gormenghast novels currently, and afterwards I’m diving into Jane Gaskell’s “Atlan” series. Ever given either of the two a whirl?
Excellent, my yelling at people to read Jimenez's books is working! Any other Zelazny recommendations (apart from Lord of Light), or should Lord of Light be my first Zelazny?
Lord of Light was my first Zelazny book. This Immortal is also great(it tied with Dune for the Hugo in 1966 and that was my second Zelazny book. For you I think Lord of Light is perfect as a first Zelazny book.

You are correct on all counts.
Especially about Evie's proselytizing 😂.
You've convinced me to put it very high on my list, thank you for sharing!
Thank you for watching!
Felt much the same with this book! The elements you highlighted were exceptional

I second this, w getting both the Garrett PI series and the Dread Empire.

Another great video, Joseph. This book was already on my list, but I’m moving it up.
Thank you! I hope you enjoy it!

You might want to dip your toes in the Amber books by reading Nine Princes in Amber. One of my favorite one-offs by Zelazny is Doorways in the Sand.
