God bless you all!
I am Elizabeth M McGuire I believe I am a decent of Hugh McGuire and am very interested in our history. I would love to meet other clan members to reunite.
My grandma was a McGuire I did our family history. I traced them back to Maguiresbridge in Fermanagh county. We came to America around 1640. We go back to the Maguire Kings of old. I found out such fascinating history about my ancestors.
Hi family of Maguire….my granny was Ellen Maguire…..her mom and dad moved to Brandon ,Manitoba during the famine and she was born there and then the family moved back to Eniskillen from where they came……I look forward to visiting some day…it looks beautiful
My father was Frederick James Maguire (b 1909) and was raised in Bolton lancashire. He came from a long line of Frederick James Maguires. His grandfather left Ireland. They were all in the building trade and very skilled men too. Dad told me stories about Fermanagh.
Dieter Meister So as far as I’m aware! When some people with the surname Maguire or Mag Uidhir fled to America, most of them where illiterate. This meant that the name was taken down wrong when they got to the American docks and established this version of the name which is most common in America
During the conquest (1200-1607) most of the Mag-Uidhir lands were confiscated resulting in their move into other neighboring counties and also to other parts of the world. Thereafter, the modern spelling of the surname which came from the Gaelic Mag-Uidhir or MacUidhir family tree was later anglicized (practice of modifying foreign words) to Maguire and McGuire. Recent DNA advances and researchers through Ancestry.com have concluded that the ancestor DNA matches are in fact the Y chromosome from the early Mag-Uidhir Maguire McGuire surnames.
Excellent video. My last name is Cassidy with Carroll being my Grandmothers maiden name. We Cassidys were very close to the Maguires. Even taking a daughter in marriage once or more . Peace be with you .
My grandfather was Mick "the jobber" mcAuley from the "Shannon pots" underneath the Culcaigh mnts. He was descended from a long line of Maguires, MacAuleys, and Magaurans.
Im Polynesian (Hawaiian), but I am a descendant of Ann Nancy McGuire born 1761 who married Maj. Casper Smith Jr. born 1759 NC. Ann Nancy McGuire is a descendant of Hugh McGuire and Nancy O'neill.

I also find it interesting of the long standing relations between the Maguire's and O'Neil's. I even knew of McGuire's and O'Neil's getting married in Springfield, Ohio in the 1950's and 60's.
Both myself, and my entire family are Maguire's. We have been in America for many generations! Interesting to see that the spelling of my last name is the correct spelling. After a lot of research into my past, we are descendants from Fermanagh and the original Maguire clan. I really hope to visit there, someday! Beautiful place! :)
We have also been Maguire with many Hugh James William and Dennis in there but I'm not sure as don't believe we could get past William or Daniel Maguire out of Donnegal as the Church records were destroyed by the English around the time of the potato famine. I am still sad that we Irish that care so much for terra no longer belong there. When I see Ireland I see it as a whole country and hope it will be again. What was done to the Irish (Catholics) was not right. What we see now as Enniskillen is mostly English and though progress has been made it makes me feel angry. I now think I know how the American Indians and the Palestinians feel as well as many other groups throut the world. Forced occupation is never right.
@@kathychamberlain6473 I wholeheartedly agree with you. I am very proud of my Irish heritage, and still have that fighting spirit! Much of my family remains catholic, to this day. Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that are hard to research about our family's past. And also, it seems, we were exiled from Ireland due to rebelling against the English, but ultimately settled in England before coming to America. I have so many unanswered questions. I will always love my beautiful ancestral home! One day, I will visit and do some investigation with my own eyes. God Bless Ireland! :)

Interesting. Am a local.Had it not been for the Flight of the Earls, Maguires, among many Earls, the the world would have been impoverished.
