Which Fable one though? Original, TLC, or Anniversary? All were great IMO! I think fable 2 was also reaaally good. Fable 3 was just fun for maxing out the ice maiden pistol to do speed runs with lol. It did extremely glitched damage once fully upgraded. The final boss fight takes mere seconds and it messes up cutscenes and dialogue lines lol.

@@WinegedDragoon I'm not positive on the time difference exactly but I do know enough time passed that people think heroes are basically just fairy tales or long past. The map started off as just old world Britain (aka Albion). Then in 2 they focused on the mainland while making the occasional nod to the surrounding islands. Then in 3 they changed it completely, the knothole glade island is just gone now, either that or it's the secret prison now and they just retconned it's size by a lot. Or I guess the island could have just been chipped away by the tides, something parts of the british isles are known for. But again, magic lol. If a magic tower can press the reset button on civilization I don't see an issue with magical alteration of the land over time. Still wish they would have covered it but they kinda just took themselves less and less seriously with each game. Big part of the company's downfall, granted, not the main cause.

You can buy every house and every business, except in Bowerstone South, where you can only buy the pre-purchaseable house, the indoors item shop, the barber and tavern.
The previous owners just have to die first, either by murder, or "accidentally" when guards try to arrest you for vandalism or having your weapon out, while your summoned ghost swords and/or summon is next to a unfortunate person who just happens to die in the ensuing chaos (you don't get blamed for kills by summons).
For Bowerstone, you have to have enough reputation/fame to convince the owners to follow you with the "follow" -emote, lead them outside Bowerstone and then stick ´em. Another way is to hire mercenaries, and then cause vandalism, and have the accidental deaths happen that way.

Fable is my favorite, especially the first one. I find it super replayable cause you don’t need to go all three routes of Strength, Skill and Will. You only need one. I’ve beaten the game as a Super hero (all 3) a multitude of two played different ways or just one route only. Currently replaying a Pure Mage however I’ve restricted myself to specific spells and it’s fantastic.
Also you can own all houses and building, you only need to get rid of the owners. Commonly you unalive them but if you want to be good you can simply have them follow you outside the town, have them stop and go back. Their home/store is now available to buy. Course the best way to exploit the economy is just buying and selling a ton of a single type of item non stop to single merchant and you’ll be filthy rich 🤣

The economy in Anniversary is kind of broken if you know how to exploit it. For instance, if you purchase all the perfume bottles in Oakvale, then proceed to sell them back, you will gain more gold each time. You can repeat this process with other more expensive items like gems. When you have all of them, just sleep until the vendor's inventory is restocked, and buy more. This will continue netting you more gold every time you buy everything and sell it back. The idea here is the NPC offers a discount to you when he has a lot in stock. On the other hand, when he has none in stick, he will be more willing to pay you more money. You can amass 500k in just under an hour of starting the game.

  • @Longshanks1690
    @Longshanks1690 Год назад +10

I think Fable 1/Anniversary is mechanically/objectively the best one. The gameplay/combat is not only fun but feels important - if that’s the right word - and memorable. The story is really well paced and despite the Hero of Oakvale never speaking, you can still see the arc he goes on. The world is well designed and feels like a real, lived in world. The tone and aesthetic of the game is consistent, charming and memorable. There’s a lot to recommend about this game and really I think the biggest drawback is how small the areas are, and how many loading screens you’ll be subjected to.
But I still overall prefer Fable 2. A lot of it is probably nostalgia but I think it is a better experience even if mechanically all the pieces are there in Fable 1 moreso than it’s sequel.

And you can very much break the economy by buying the entire stock of an item from a trader and then selling it back as the supply and demand system is busted. The trade "exploit" works very well in chicken mode but requires many more items in heroic mode. Fable 1 had proper cutscenes that Fable 2 took out. The Hero in 2 never changes their expression (the rare time you can see it). Fable 1 also didn't lean into the Monty Python style humour that 2 and 3 did - it gets old quickly. You can also die in combat, which is nice. The villain requires a fight instead of nothing, like Lucien and Logan. There's no annoying dog. The magic has variety. Guns aren't OP. Clothing has armor stats. You can punch children.
    Fable 1 is the best.

Fable 1 was just so epic with 2 clean goal posts that drove the story. The arena was so hyped up i felt on pins and needles when i got there, and jack as a final villain was a great final protagonist. Fable 2 obviously didnt want to double down on the exact same notes so it prioritized world building over the overall epicness, but for me that trade wasn't worth it.

@Fizhy If you yuu weren't made aware yet you can buy more then 1 building in any settlement, but if no ones selling you can't buy. So what you have to do is get the owners of the buildings to follow you through a loading screen then dismiss them and when you return their home will be up for sale. Or you can just outright kill them, it pretty much has the same effect but thats not important. Even if you buy everything, and yes almost every building can be obtained, you still can't effect the market through owning the building as you have no control over rent or prices for shop that you own. The passive income is nice but not really needed in Fable A.

My personal favourite is Fable 1, but really I don't understand why Microsoft doesn't put Fable 2 on PC, because they did it for Fable 1 twice (Lost Chapters and Anniversary, don't know about other markets but it's on steam) and Fable 3 which was removed from storefronts like steam. Whilst Fable 2 never received a PC release bizarrely enough, there are other titles of which I could say the same thing like I would love Microsoft to remaster the Gears of War Trilogy and put it on PC.
I feel like a lot of people would buy those two titles on PC.

I wish you used more magic it expands the combat and makes it more in depth. Its easy to fall into hack and slashing in fable 1 and not experience the whole combat systems. You can easily kill two trolls by using shield which protects you and consumes mana instead of health, using multiple hit which multiplys the damage you do with sword, as well as using enflame could have taken those trolls out with ease. Using more spells gives the combat more depth.

While i still enjoyed fable 1, its still forever plagued in my mind. I pre ordered and got fable day 1, i remember rushing home from school and getting my dad to take me to gamestop to get my copy. I 100% it in one sitting in 9 hours. I had fun, but was highly dissapponted. I was 14 or 15, and wasnt used to the game industry over hyping games yet, and was my first introduction to Peter Molyneux (though i had already played black and white, and loved it, i never heard of peter yet)
Peter Molyneux said so many lies about this game, i dont remember exactly, but it was like sean murray from no mans sky but worse (at least from what i remember, it was a long time ago) peter made this sound like the everything game, go and do whatever you want, play forever, huge world, great character development, the best rpg ever. When i 100% it in one sitting, i felt so angry and lied to. The game was a series of narrow hallways, very light rpg elemts, basic story, very little to no freedom. Fable 1 was the first and last fable i played. Peter Molyneux was one of the worst video game shills, i never believed anything he said again. And then i remember him showing off this lame milo kid thing for the xbox kinetic years later, and knew everything he showed fornit was just a lie, and nothing ever came from it lol. He did make black and white though, and i really loved that game.

I believe some of it may be nostalgia, but just the whole tone is different with the first one. Everything down to the music is amazing. I enjoy the world of fable 1 much more even though its smaller. I didnt like how they jumped so far in to the future with the sequel, nor did i enjoy the lack of armor ratings and things like being knocked out instead of dying. Still LOVE fable 2, though. Fable 2 improves upon the original Fable in a lot of ways, but the invisible walls were a turn off. The game needs an anniversary treatment.
Fable 3 felt too linear, and I despised how broken the interactions were with NPCs. At the very least though, they improved upon the income system. This game wasn’t as bad as Angry Joe made it out to be though back in the day, even if the sanctuary was a step-back.

I've always liked Fable 1, especially after they added The Lost Chapters. Anniversary is little more than just a HD remaster, though questionable if the new HD models and such are actually better than the original.
That said, a small nit pick to this video, in games like theses, ones with a sort of morality system, I tend to favor being neutral, even though almost all games that have this end with you being good or evil. As such, there is a small exploit at the start where you can get all 6 gold pieces.
Start off wondering to town square and, "Oh, whats that? some kind of ruckus behind this house."
Cheating man: "A mans gotta look out for himself, you know?"
Me: " Hm, I agree. Thanks for the gold piece"
Wife: "Where is that filthy lay about husband of mine?"
Me, recalling what man said: "A mans gotta look out for himself, you know?"
Also me: "Hm, I agree. Hey lady, think your man is behind that house with another lady."
Also also me: "Heheh, I did a good deed."
Farmer: "Hey, could you watch these crates for me while I answer a call of nature?"
Me: "Guarding crates is so boring... but smashing barrels is a lot of fun, and there is a gold piece in one of them... and scary beetles! Run!"
Farmer: "Good job lad. I'll put in a good word for you with your dad for guarding these crates."
Me: "Um, yeah... thats what I was doing. Guarding these crates. Heh, I did a good deed. What? He didn't say anything about the barrels." ;P
Bully: "This little brat won't give me the teddy cause I said I'd rip its arms off."
Me: "Hm, well here is your problem. You're doing it wrong. Let me demonstrate. Hey Timmy, I'd like to introduce you to a couple of my friends. Their names are... Sticks and Stones. You know what they like doing? BREAKING BONES!
Timmy: "whaaa! Alright, I'll give you Rosie if you please stop hitting me."
    Me: "See, just that easy."
Bully: "Great job, now give my the teddy and I'll give you half his pocket money. Which is like, one gold piece."
Me: "Hm, a teddy bear for a gold piece... Deal! Oh, but... before you go. You know my friends, Sticks and Stones? You know what they really don't like? THEY DON'T LIKE BULLIES!!!
Also me: "Heheh, I did good deed. Now to talk to daddy about the reward for all the good deeds I did."
Sadly that is perhaps the only time you can truly be neutral, though I do later try to get everything from both the Chapel of Skorm and Temple of Avo. Helps if you are fully to the opposite alignment. Also, while you are fully good or evil, you can master their relative spells and keep them mastered as you go the other way. With that, Max Physicals Shield plus Max Rage... is broken. Add on Multi-Strike and Assassin Rush, then nothing can stop you. I miss those spells in later games.
All that said however, if they are making another Fable. Like a Fable 4, I honestly hope they make it like a prequel to the first. Set in a time where the Heroes Guild is just being formed. In the time of when Arkon and Nostro were alive. Back in the time of Dragons.

All you need to make infinite money pretty quickly is buy all the diamonds in bowerstone, then sell them right back to the same guy.
Price is tied to supply so when he has many diamonds he sells them for cheap, and when he's sold them all he'll pay lots for one. As long as you buy and sell the whole stock he'll make you rich in no time.
