  • In this video, my daughter and I take a Nottinghamshire walk to Rufford Park and Sherwood Forest to check out 2 of the historical parts of the county. We made our way initially over to Rufford Abbey to check out the Grade I listed building dating back to 1147.
    We then made our way over to Sherwood Forest to check out The Major Oak, the home of Robin Hood.

      Haha. I think there is only one way to sort the Robin Hood debate. Best of 3 at rock, paper, scissors 🤣. Loved the weather this weekend. So nice to have a bit of warm sunshine on the back. I notice I’ve had a video notification from your good self so I’ll watch that very shortly 👍

      Thanks Ben. It’s nice to have it so close to home. It was so busy around the abbey but there are so many trails, it’s really easy to find some peace and tranquillity. Thanks for watching as always 🙂

    Evening Anthony, Lily, nice to see you both out and about, and what a day for it too!
    Snap, we have a Centre Parcs too, Longleat Forest, Ceri worked there for 4 years 🤗
    Yikes at the ear bite, they are agro birds for sure!🦢🦆 Loved the sculpture park and Abby, very interesting, love a bit of history. Thanks for this you two, loved that Lily is speaking more and more ❤☕🤗 stay safe and well, Ceri and Kat 😁
    P.s how was the takeaway bill that night? 😬🤭❤

      Thanks Ceri and Kat. I’ve never been to Center Parcs before. I think it’s because I could walk home from this one so it wouldn’t feel like a holiday! I could be tempted to try one further afield though as they’re always in great locations. Theres definitely a nice bit of history in that area. Remembering it all is the hard thing. Kat seems to have a sponge like memory for historical facts. 🤓🙂💚👍

    Lily is a great companion on your walks Anthony, she's a great historian too! 😊 I'm sure, despite the additional miles on this walk, she'll still be with you on many more. I really enjoyed watching this as I went to Rufford Abbey once with my partner back in 2013 and remember walking by the lakes. Walked to the Major Oak once too, but aside from a walk around Clumber Park on one other occasion and doing GoApe another time at Sherwood Pines, Sherwood Forest is an area I've hardly explored. Amazing that you were walking here in February given the spring-like weather you had on this day. Great video again Anthony. Keep safe and well 😊

    • @AnthonyJohnson1
      @AnthonyJohnson1  3 года назад

      Thanks Patrick. We’ve always been fortunate to have Sherwood Forest and Rufford so close by. It’s a lovely woodland walk with so many quiet parts once you move away from the main paths. It’s well worth exploring if you get chance. Lily enjoys appearing on RUclips more that the walking. She’s definitely more of a natural that I am! Thanks for watching 👍🙂

    Nice to hear the skylarks in full voice Anthony. I have to confess to not knowing Nottinghamshire too well, though have been to a place called Budby Common (astonishingly, the last time we went we saw an elderly naked chap casually strolling across the heath 😬 ) a few times and also Attenborough Nature Reserve. Looked lovely that in the sunshine. ATB, Chris

    • @AnthonyJohnson1
      @AnthonyJohnson1  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Chris. Budby is only a stones throw from where we were on this video. Plenty of bird watching opportunities in this area for you. Loads of wildlife and rather sounds of the skylarks was lovely. I think a bit of warm, sunny weather makes everyone happy. It’s really nice to listen back to the sounds when editing and it’s one of the reasons I tend not to use much music on my videos as I like the sounds of nature.

      We only saw the one ice house. Lily was moaning about the extra distance so we just made our way to Sherwood Forest. Quite fascinating history at Rufford isn’t there.
