Can someone explain to me what's the difference between this ship and the Maddie and Diggie one. Other than the selfishness coming from the main character instead of towards the main character. So I think the only nontoxic ship involving Liv or Maddie was Maddie and Josh.
@@jameslott748 i can see where you are getting at, but I feel Liv and Holden are healthier because they communicate with each other and are more mature about the situations. Liv is in a similar situation with Diggie regarding wanting to do more outside the relationship. He wanted to travel. She wants her career. But she has more relationships with her friends and her family and it is hard to balance that out. But she was upfront with him from the beginning. Also, every time they reunite, they do love each other and can be friends when they can. Maddie, like Holden, felt diggie prioritized his wants over her and did not even discuss it with her. However, Holden explained what his wants and needs were and never wanted Liv to lose any part of herself. He showed you can prioritize yourself and protect yourself. If the relationship is not working, it is ok to break up. He was trying to be patient with Liv where Diggie did not do with Maddie. So, yeah, they had some similarities, but Liv and Holden were more mature in how they handled the situation.

As much as I LOVED this ship I have to admit the reason Holden broke up with Liv is very valid. Like it is sweet that Liv cares so much about her twin but Holden had every right to be upset.. Like his own girlfriend didn't even bother to consider his feelings. Of course he is going be hurt by that. Who wouldn't?
Exactly. I believe that this is non ironically one of the things that made them be such a good ship. In the sense of their breakup being so real and for such a valid reason. And this comes to light even more when Maddie says to Liv to tell the media and get back with Holden - as many many tv shows couples would be able to do - and Liv says it doesn't really matter, because that wouldn't some their problem. The fact both of them were so mature about the whole thing and never had a fight or even disagreement (the closest to this was when Liv finds out about the band thing and says "you know you're not supposed to hide things from me") just elevates them so much. They loved each other so deeply, but still had to break up. Yeah, I don't think I'll ever forgive Disney for that. At least it is hinted they find each other again. But still.
Liv and Holden’s breakup was sad, but it was also, in my opinion, the most well acted scene in Disney Channel history. Dove and Jordan are incredible, and they should get more credit for their acting, not just their singing.
God I agree, I know that some argue Alex and Mason was better but honestly I think their relationship was too toxic and dependent to really be sad about it, the dialogue between Liv and Holden was just 10/10: realistic dialogue, great emotion control and facial expressions, even if their love story was a little weird. I’m glad we got it. Edit: you could tell that Holden was so reluctant to say it because he loved her and Jordan did a good job of portraying that whether intentional or not

@maem7462 that's correct. It's just that we never saw Josh's response when maddie told liv not to tell the press about the truth. Which is just extremely unfair for the show to do that towards Josh's character

I mean, Joey and Willow was fun, but it was a *slog* in the early seasons because they wrote Willow to borderline be stalking Joey, so when it evolved from a bit to an actual plotline I had to give pause because like, maybe don't tell kids to date their stalker. Like yeah they only got together after Willow stopped doing that but it still squicks me out a bit

Liv really got the short end of the relationship stick on the show, but I guess they really just wanted to focus on her career on the show. We deserved a definitive moment where Holden and Liv state that they are going to get back together. They were so good together.
I will never forgive Disney for breaking these 2 up. I'm glad we at least got a hint that they would get back together in future but it infuriates me that Liv lost her relationship through helping Maddie protect Diggie's feelings when he (1) didn't deserve it and (2) knew it was Maddie anyway. I feel like it also hurt so much more considering how long we waited for them to get together what with all of the Andie drama, it's just so sad.

its been 2 months but i just wanted to say that the actor of holden is jordan fisher, and he's genuinely an amazing singer and dancer! he won dancing with the stars a little while ago and he's been acting in some smaller stuff recently (i also believe he may have done some broadway stuff)! hes a great actor but hes a PHENOMENAL singer/dancer

Yeah. And there are a lot of people out there - for some unrealistic reason - who say they prefer Maddie cause Liv was such a selfish self-centered person. And I'm just like "have you seen any of the show after season 1????" (which I l believe calling Liv self-centered could be almost reasonable, but it's been a good while since I last watched season 1) I don't (kinda) have a problem with people liking Maddie better or something, but them talking about Liv like that is just nuts to me. Liv is just so amazing. And she kept getting better and better and better. With everyone season.
I did like Liv and Holden together. They were just a sweet couple, you know? Yes, there was the love triangle and all of that drama. But after that was resolved, they just felt...simple. In a good way, though. So when they broke up, I was genuinely sad. The reason behind it is one that I can understand from both points of view. Liv tends to prioritize others feelings before her own throughout the series, which is not a bad thing. However, I think this break up shows how it can turn into a bad thing when it hurts someone else in the process without meaning to. What did bug me was Maddie's involvement in all of this. I get that she didn't want to upset Diggie and her reason why makes sense. But, she shouldn't of asked Liv not to say anything. She wasn't respecting her relationship with Holden and indirectly (and unintentionally) broke them up. It's even worse considering she couldn't bring herself to tell Diggie and he knew it was her all along. So, Maddie's mostly the one responsible here (I say mostly because Liv had a role to play in it as well, even though not intentionally). Just my opinion, though.
@@perfectpurple7453 Well, that's why I said that Maddie isn't fully to blame. It was Liv's decision at the end of the day, so she is at fault for that. And while Maddie couldn't of known that this would lead to them breaking up, Liv was trying to tell her that she promised Holden that she would fix the situation and she cut her off before she could finish telling her that.

I loove them and I'm mad they didn't get back together, because they could've worked out their issue even without separating. But what he said during the break up was so well-delivered and actually pretty true. But she hadn't realized how he actually feels and didn't blame him for feeling the way he did... I'm just sure it's a realistic problem that could've been solved.

I always thought that it would be kind of cool to see a L & M spinoff starring Johnny and Gemma. Kurt Long and Chloe Wepper played their respective roles so well, and I thought both had great onscreen chemistry. It wouldn't be a Disney Channel show, though.
I love that scene where Joey actually cares about Lviv’s feelings and acknowledges her. I feel like it shows what a deep character Joey is, and that despite all his shenanigans, he still cares about her feelings.
caitlin I know you mentioned wanting to do a non disney ship, i’d be interested in watching a video breakdown of Sam and Freddie from iCarly. They did the” will they won’t they” & “enemies to lovers” tropes for a lot of seasons until they ended up getting together but the relationship was very short-lived. I remember loving them together when I was younger! also love this video btw. I was so heartbroken when Liv & Holden broke up ☹️
This is sad...and the breakup is frustrating because like...why(?) I don't understand the logic of Liv getting her healthy relationship to end, because of Digbert's feelings. The whole situation with Maddie, trying to spare her ex's feelings is so bizzare too. and Disney channel really did have a thing for breaking up the good relationships and promoting the more toxic ones. In shows for kids/young teenagers.

YES Liv and Holden are one of the best Disney Channel ships out there! I haven't watched the show in a while, but I still remember how their break-up made me so emotional😭 I wish they would've never broke up and I wish the show would've focused on their relationship more because they are definitely the superior ship from the series along with Maddie and Josh (even though they sadly didn't end up together). Disney ruins so many of my favorite ships, but I'm still hoping that they'll make Amy and Hartley from The Villains of Valley View a canon couple (the whole fandom is literally holding their breath to see if Hartmy will happen in the upcoming prom episode)! I'm also hoping that Lou and Parker from Bunk'd end up together this season, even though it's highly unlikely to happen since Parker is still dating Victoria. Lou and Parker have so much more chemistry than Parker and Victoria though, like I know a few people who aren't Bunk'd fans but saw Lou and Parker's interactions in a recent episode and thought that the two of them were like an old married couple which that's what I've been saying since season 5😭 I know that was kinda off-topic but anyways if you want to talk about some of the more recent ships (both canon and non-canon) from Disney in another video, then that would be awesome! Of course you don't have to do that, it's only a suggestion - I'm happy with whatever content you decide to make because I love your commentary! Like Amy literally looked so caught off guard when he mentioned that and I don't think she would have seemed so surprised by the comment if them holding hands was a best friend thing they did. Also, that moment at the end of the episode Power Hungry, when Amy told Hartley how her life became so much better when she moved next door to her - that was basically Amy confessing her love to her, like you can't convince me otherwise! I really, really hope that Amy and Hartley will be together too! Those two are perfect for each other❤️
i agree with that, if they make Amy or Hartly go with some random guy i will be upset. I know it said Milo was going with amy, it also says that she wasn't his first choice and are going as friends. Is there, by chance, any plans for a "Decade-A-Rooney" video to mark the occasion? I don't think that Disney Channel has anything planned. . .no retrospective, no documentary about the show, and definitely no reunion has been announced (although I think the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike may have a lot to do with that last part), and that is really too bad. Liv and Maddie remains one of the network's best, most loved, and still most talked about shows, even after it's finale six-and-a-half years ago. Having said that, please trust me when I tell you that, even as I write this, Liv and Holden are very happily married and living in NYC's Upper West Side in the apartment bequeathed to them by Holden's grandmother, which is located on 86th Street and Amsterdam Avenue (re: S3 E4 "Haunt-A-Rooney").😊

lol i've never watched this show but i always love your videos on this show. like not me crying at their breakup after having all the context being brought to me hfdjhfs but jordan and dove are such good actors like i would love to see them in another piece of media again, though i know dove has moved past this. also the writing was just... really good. like it was just a really well written break up. i think it would've been even better if they did get back together on screen, but like, this is the kind of break up that just breaks your heart and i haven't seen another break up on disney like this. they deserved better fr.
I would absolutely love to see a video covering all of the smaller ships with less screentime, not just in Liv and Maddie but in other shows too, because I think there are quite a lot of side character stories that aren't talked about often (the ones that come to mind are Smackle and Farkle, Dez and Carrie, and Delfi and Pedro, but there are probably more)

I mean, Joey and Willow was fun, but it was a *slog* in the early seasons because they wrote Willow to borderline be stalking Joey, so when it evolved from a bit to an actual plotline I had to give pause because like, maybe don't tell kids to date their stalker. Liv really got the short end of the relationship stick on the show, but I guess they really just wanted to focus on her career on the show. We deserved a definitive moment where Holden and Liv state that they are going to get back together. They were so good together.
I will never forgive Disney for breaking these 2 up. I'm glad we at least got a hint that they would get back together in future but it infuriates me that Liv lost her relationship through helping Maddie protect Diggie's feelings when he (1) didn't deserve it and (2) knew it was Maddie anyway. I feel like it also hurt so much more considering how long we waited for them to get together what with all of the Andie drama, it's just so sad.

its been 2 months but i just wanted to say that the actor of holden is jordan fisher, and he's genuinely an amazing singer and dancer! he won dancing with the stars a little while ago and he's been acting in some smaller stuff recently (i also believe he may have done some broadway stuff)! hes a great actor but hes a PHENOMENAL singer/dancer

I did like Liv and Holden together. They were just a sweet couple, you know? Yes, there was the love triangle and all of that drama. But after that was resolved, they just felt...simple. In a good way, though. So when they broke up, I was genuinely sad. The reason behind it is one that I can understand from both points of view. Liv tends to prioritize others feelings before her own throughout the series, which is not a bad thing. However, I think this break up shows how it can turn into a bad thing when it hurts someone else in the process without meaning to.
What did bug me was Maddie's involvement in all of this. I get that she didn't want to upset Diggie and her reason why makes sense. But, she shouldn't of asked Liv not to say anything. She wasn't respecting her relationship with Holden and indirectly (and unintentionally) broke them up. It's even worse considering she couldn't bring herself to tell Diggie and he knew it was her all along. So, Maddie's mostly the one responsible here (I say mostly because Liv had a role to play in it as well, even though not intentionally). Just my opinion, though.

But what he said during the break up was so well-delivered and actually pretty true. But she hadn't realized how he actually feels and didn't blame him for feeling the way he did... I'm just sure it's a realistic problem that could've been solved.

caitlin I know you mentioned wanting to do a non disney ship, i’d be interested in watching a video breakdown of Sam and Freddie from iCarly. They did the” will they won’t they” & “enemies to lovers” tropes for a lot of seasons until they ended up getting together but the relationship was very short-lived. I remember loving them together when I was younger! also love this video btw. I was so heartbroken when Liv & Holden broke up ☹️

YES Liv and Holden are one of the best Disney Channel ships out there! I haven't watched the show in a while, but I still remember how their break-up made me so emotional😭 I wish they would've never broke up and I wish the show would've focused on their relationship more because they are definitely the superior ship from the series along with Maddie and Josh (even though they sadly didn't end up together). Disney ruins so many of my favorite ships, but I'm still hoping that they'll make Amy and Hartley from The Villains of Valley View a canon couple (the whole fandom is literally holding their breath to see if Hartmy will happen in the upcoming prom episode)! I'm also hoping that Lou and Parker from Bunk'd end up together this season, even though it's highly unlikely to happen since Parker is still dating Victoria. Lou and Parker have so much more chemistry than Parker and Victoria though, like I know a few people who aren't Bunk'd fans but saw Lou and Parker's interactions in a recent episode and thought that the two of them were like an old married couple which that's what I've been saying since season 5😭 I know that was kinda off-topic but anyways if you want to talk about some of the more recent ships (both canon and non-canon) from Disney in another video, then that would be awesome! Of course you don't have to do that, it's only a suggestion - I'm happy with whatever content you decide to make because I love your commentary! Also, that moment at the end of the episode Power Hungry, when Amy told Hartley how her life became so much better when she moved next door to her - that was basically Amy confessing her love to her, like you can't convince me otherwise! This coming Friday, September 15th will mark EXACTLY ten years to the day that Liv and Maddie first premiered on Disney Channel. Is there, by chance, any plans for a "Decade-A-Rooney" video to mark the occasion? I don't think that Disney Channel has anything planned. . .no retrospective, no documentary about the show, and definitely no reunion has been announced (although I think the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike may have a lot to do with that last part), and that is really too bad. Liv and Maddie remains one of the network's best, most loved, and still most talked about shows, even after it's finale six-and-a-half years ago.
Having said that, please trust me when I tell you that, even as I write this, Liv and Holden are very happily married and living in NYC's Upper West Side in the apartment bequeathed to them by Holden's grandmother, which is located on 86th Street and Amsterdam Avenue (re: S3 E4 "Haunt-A-Rooney").😊
