One more thing about shadowlands - it came out in late 2020 - I remember we wanted to go visit family for Thanksgiving, or we could stay home and play the new expansion, and it was safer for our elderly relatives to stay home, and play a game set in the afterlife.

Shadowlands was deliberate character assassination of Sylvanas and the person responsible has since been fired for sexual harassment and abuse. To go into more detail, Shadowlands was largely written, and Sylvanas was written, by Alex Afrasiabi who was the Senior Creative Director for World of Warcraft and was later fired from Blizzard for sexual harassment and abuse, and he has been confirmed by other people on the writing staff to have hated Sylvanas as a character and wanted to ruin her. Her voice actress is also on record going basically, to paraphrase, "Idfk what's even happening with her either, but I hate it." I'd give you the views and watch time on these vids if I could handle it, but it still hurts too much. At least commenting at all should help engagement metrics. I'll try to watch all of everything else to hopefully make up for it, but yeah, this expansion just hurts way too much. It's still upsetting how much power they gave him and how long they kept him in leadership, especially since the allegations were both ongoing and went back like 20 years.

@@Extinct_4 And in ruining Sylvanas, he also oversaw writing that destroyed, retconed and generally trashed decades and decades of established lore and character development in the Warcraft universe. It's among the laundry list of reasons so many players consider Shadowlands to be the unparalleled worst expansion in the history of Warcraft. Even Warlords of Draenor was a better expansion, and that one was literally admitted by Blizzard's development team to have been incomplete and unfinished. SL was just a dumpster fire of an expansion from top to bottom.
