I had a feeling Popyrin could pull off the win. He had Djokovic close in the previous two matches and after a high of winning Montreal and Djokovic struggling to recover after Olympics glory, this was the time to strike. Brutal draw for both, this was a quarterfinal match at least, not a third rounder.

Also, i don't think we will see another player, past, present and future, making a grandslam final at 38 years of age and very almost winning it. Roger federer did this in year 2019, Wimbledon final. This is only because of his enormous talent, effortless magical game, amazing varieties, very aggressive style of play, quick reflexes, very less time for service, taking the ball very early etc etc

I was watching Pegula and Kenin playing previous to this match and I thought the speed of the court is faster this year, that might explain why there are upsets this year. I know Daniil Medvedev likes fast hardcourts so I would now make him hot favorite to win this year's US Open.
