I'm so glad we live in a time where we can watch full matches, 1 or 2 days later. I remember when, if you missed a match live or couldn't watch it because it wasn't broadcast free where you are, that was it.
    Thanks US Open.

Yep, but the thing is to be like that for years. We all have seen too many players meant to be "the next thing", and the big majority of them are just hanging around trying to win a couple of challengers. And winning a challenger is very difficult.

Wow what an electrifying match. Such brilliant shots from both players, but Alexei had the edge when it came to explosive first serves and devastatingly accurate forehand bombs to the corners.

This man’s people are nadal federer and Murray era, those people have retired. Am a fire hard nadal fan but even have to admit this, the debate is over he is the GOAT. The records are too much for anyone to ignore. Maybe Carlos will eclipse that be he needs to get his act together.

I will never understand why Djokovic's record doesn't speak for itself. Neither Nadal nor Federer ever did the slam, holding all four majors at the same time, Djokovic did it twice, I think?

Novak played risky at critical moments, easily first set could be other way. Also it was obvious that drop shots were completely useless and some of them in critical moments in the net. Two key facts contributed to the loss in the match, very bad first service percentage and risky serving for the second serve which contributed to the double faults. Also in long exchanges no patience which is result of bad fitness again or no mental strength. At the end maybe no big drive for winning.

I thought he should have retired right after the Olympics. It was perfect timing.
But, I guess, it's easier to say that when you're not the player.

@@Jan_-_- You're right. Or "biggest upset". People are finishing Alcaraz after his loss but if you put side-to side both Alcaraz and Nole's seasons there is no colour. Alcaraz, Wimbledon and Roland Garros (probably the hardest tournaments) and an Olympic final, versus the gold medal on Nole's side. Ask any pro player what would they choose.

Have to say Alexei was pretty lucky in lots of shots.. Clipped the back line plenty of times. And Novak was not on his A game for sure. That said, Alexei deserved the win, and Novak is looking a bit "over the hill" in this match. I wouldn't be surprised if he is not able to get another slam to his career, which of course still leaves him on top of the men's all time, (so far). Players ARE getting better and better, and he is not. I don't think Novak would have gotten to 4 sets even if playing Sinner or Fritz, not this year.
