It's just as simple as putting a piece of dry ice in the tank. Make sure the opening of the tank is the high part, once you see the little smoke coming out of the tankweld your heart out

I know it’s in Holley’s interest to advertise their stuff and all; but seriously huge props to them to sponsor so so so many of my favorite small-business youtube creators. It’s like together, two American-grown companies working together to keep our American gearhead community thriving.
    This is just too cool!

Should have talked the customer into a fuel tank relocation kit. We moved the tanks on the 76 and 79 Fords which gained us room behind the seat and made the interior smell better and ultimately safer. We were also able to carry more fuel as well.

Top Tip, 50 years experience. Use Gasgacinch cement to glue the cork gaskets to the VC and finger paint a very thin layer of RTV I perfer Black Ultra Permatex letting it dry. This allows you to easily reuse your VC gaskets without sticking while keeping the oil where it belongs. Also the gaskets peal off like sticky notes with brake cleaner to clean up the Gasgacinch. My engines don't leak. 23:50

No, use the perimeter steel gaskets with the rubber liners on both sides.
Chuck those cork gaskets into the scrap.

@karrpilot7092 old school vehicles don't generally get o-ring gaskets. My methods are tried and true. BTW dad was one of the technicians that sealed Mercury, Gemini and Apollo space capsules. With hi temp red RTV the Original. First vehicle we used Red RTV on was my aunts 62 Buick 225 401 nail head. I don't have leaks on any engine i have rebuilt. Since 1966.

Hey brothers all that is needed to weld a fume filled tank is exhaust gas from a running engine piped into the tank to drown out any flammable gases

You can also fill the tank with argon or 75/25 mix. Letting the gas push all the gasoline fumes out.

I poured over filters, seeing what was best, I've actually got TWO here to return ... .. I decided to go with a Caterpillar -0750 spin on fuel filter .. They do 10 micron or smaller right out of the box, and spare filters are like $20

My grandpa used to weld on gas tanks by running his exhaust from his gas powered Lincoln into the tank and purging all the oxygen out of it.. This was in the 70s ,CO2,argon helium was very expensive and sketchy to find while carbon monoxide is plentiful..
This was in the oil fields and in his Texas shop..
I am not saying that Anyone should do it. However I have seen it done..

6:07 Fittings are a big decision! .. You can spend literally hundreds of dollar extra on fittings!! .. And just about nothing comes with them free!!
I decided to go old fashioned 3/8" hard Aluminum fuel lines, and EFI rated Rubber hose splices (I have a bead roller for the aluminum fuel line so rubber hose and EFI rated hose clamps will be secure) .... and an IN TANK 60 PSI Fuel Pump
Holley includes a ROLL of rubber fuel line with some Master kits, but personally I don't like long runs of rubber hose, just my preference.
I'll need a bunch of NPT to Barbed hose fittings, but I have a drawer FULL of that stuff, I have collected over the years!) .. And I'll seal EVERY NPT fitting with Loctite 592 high temperature Thread Sealer paste.
The only "newfangled" fitting I had to get was for the throttle body itself ... a pair of
    6AN Female 90 degree to 3/8 hose Barb at $10 each :)
This will make everything for the fuel runs, serviceable and replaceable with just screw driver! :)

6:36 I went with Holley's fully adjustable 12- 879 pressure regulator. It comes with 2 springs and can precisely regulate from 4 psi, all the way up to 65 psi
My thought is? I'm putting the softer spring in a box with an older Holley 4 barrel 4150 base carburetor, with the mounting studs and keeping it in the back of the van with a simple tool box ...
Just incase I'm broken down somewhere?? Where there's no parts, (like rural Saskatchewan) ??
Myself, or any mechanic can carefully take off the throttle body, (for future repair) .... change a spring in the regulator, and slap the 4 barrel on, and i'm back up and running, in an emergency of ANY kind :)

    Clean install, definitely!!
The Manifold Vacuum/KPA ,, seemed realy low not a very big camned 390.
Great job on the install . Right on.
By the way,, with the in cab tank, factory pickup, and a hard left turn....
It will definitely starve the EFI /factory fuel pickup,,
    with under half tank .
Yes i own a 77f250 with a sniper and factory in cab tank.
Luckily, i have a custom saddle and Rear tank with in tank fuel pumps and most importantly Holley Hydramates in both of those.
All 3 tanks together equal 70 gallons of FUN!!! Very easy to plumb with ( 2 ), 6 port fuel tank switching valves.
    Ran by the Holley EFI
Contact EFI PROS for the dual / 3 tank kit.
Hooks right up to the Blue Wire on the Holley EFI.... FYI For Truck owners!!
    Enjoy!!

A funny side note too, for all the tree huggers out there, that might now be the most fuel-efficient big block on the road today.
...the factory probably stuck a big two barrel on it originally, making it STARVE and cause the driver to have to mash the pedal in order to get it to budge.

Haha you’re right! This bolt-on system makes any old engine soooo much more efficient! And I think preserving old cars, yet with touch of a bit of modern, is a great balance to not blindly consume and buy the next new hotness. Preserving in itself is a form of being “Green.”
As a city dude, the greenest folks I’ve ever met are those out in the country and hunters. Hunters preserve the land and leave it better than they entered it. The mantra I found that opened my eyes were those guys do want to preserve our beautiful lands, and they know how to do it. Not us city folks who consume consume and buy things in mass from amazon and the markets..
It’s so ironic the BEST naturalists, conservationists, and the greenest folks I’ve met are those hunting and rural communities!

If you don't know what the compression ratio of your engine is, simple do a compression test on all 8 cylinders, and divide that by 14.7. So if your Compression test comes up with 140 ish psi, you have a 9.5:1 compression ratio.

if anyone is thinking about this i highly recommend using Fitechs Force fuel systems for supplying fuel to your holley efi, way easier and more bang for your buck, thats what i did with my terminator x install, beats the heck out of spending hundreds more on a regulator and bunch of expensive lines and fittings that youll order wrong and then have to reorder.

I tried a Terminator X system on my Chevy this past year but ended up back with a carb after many bugs and issues. It seems like Holley has invested a bunch of time into fixing things with this new release and I’m tempted to dive back in to the EFI world.

Your best bet with the fuel tank is to have it steam cleaned at a radiator shop or somewhere similar. There is an OSHA video on a Surfboard shop that used a 55 gallon drum of Acetone to make a mobile work platform. Washed with soap and water rinsed several times, and left to dry for a day or so. When they were welding on it, the wire from the Mig gun punched through, and there was an explosion. Blew him 40 feet across the shop and Killed him. It was determined that less than a tablespoon of product had remained in the crevices of the drum, and that that is what caused the explosion. I've been doing tank work for over 40 years, my Father over 60, and we have never had an incident. Tanks are steam cleaned and checked with a LEL meter before welding. Please, please, don't take a chance or the cheap way out. Do it right. Anything else is just guessing. Maybe it's ok, maybe it's not. I know there are going to be lots of comments "I've just done such and such, and I never had a problem". Until they do. Good video guys. Cheers.

8:34 Really should not hac=ve t say this .. standard procedure is to flood the tank with Arcon or whatever mig mix you have ...and LEAVE it flowing while welding!!
Poor man's substitute is run an exhaust hose from someone else car into the tank.. it'll keep the O2 out .. Sometimes they'll explode, and ruin the tank (makes it "ball shaped" :)
