Smartwool socks are a good option too. But it's all about being comfortable and having fun!

I love how comprehensive this is!! I love the Zoic Naveah 11” Shorts; I’m 6’2”, and they fit well and have lots of stretch! Or the most durable but if you’re not pushing the envelope every ride, they are a must have! I also have been looking at that Club Ride Tee with the small circle pockets on the back

Dusty Betty Great! I’ve actually torn a few holes in mine so I’ll need to replace them soon. Not because of crashing, but be a bit careless 😅

Darn Tough socks are the best, great quality and awesome customer service. My go to, whether riding in 85F weather or walking in the winter when its well below freezing.

Apparently I go old school 80's before most riding now were born. I do wear 5/10 shoes and love them but other than my sports bra, shorts liner, gloves, sunglasses, helmet,....my mtb ensemble comes from Walmart.

This is so great. We just got my wife her first ride and she was asking about the dress code. Thanks for making this video it is a great place to start.

Additional fashion tip: you more often see it with road bikers, but it's commonly considered incorrect to wear your sunglasses inside of the helmet straps. Pros will wear them on the outside of the helmet straps so you can see the logo.
With that said, I like being able to take my helmet off without breaking my glasses, so I wear them "wrong". Nobody's going to mistake me for a pro anyways, and I'm not sure I'd want them to. :-D

In place of liners, try Jockey slip shorts (or similar brand). Inexpensive, no seams to chafe, no thigh rub, cute pop of color under hem of baggies

And ladies, please don’t worry if you have to wear men’s mountain bike clothes. Its sometimes hard to find larger sizes for women. Zoic and POC are excellent quality and fit great. And men’s shorts have better pockets, too!
Add some cute women’s socks and you’ll be stylin’! 🚴‍♀️😎

That's one thing I hate about women's outdoor clothing, they don't make larger sizes for those of us who need a larger size. I've thought about just buying a pair of men's shorts but always felt they would look too baggy or be too long

so true on the gloves and softness for wiping your nose! I recently got a new pair and ouch - too rough when I wipe!
also a big fan of Club Ride shorts and liners - I have bigger hips and these have a very flattering fit on me.

When I take my gravel bike out, it's my fox mtb shorts and a Walmart shirt, it just feels right 🤣🤣

    • @tycojewel7979
      @tycojewel7979 3 года назад

I have many Walmart shirts, both women's and teen boys. They are inexpensive yet very functional and hold up well after many washings. I also wear Walmart teen boys short. Again inexpensive ($12) great pocketage and hold up well versus $75 and up for actual MTB shorts. I have tried women's mtb shorts but find they are designed for taller riders hence hang low in crotch. Therefore, my best find so far are Wrangler teen boy shorts from Walmart

I like merino wool. It is thermo regulating, does not stink, breathable and offers some sun protection. Downsides are that it is not so comfortable in humid weather, especially when hot and that it is not as strong as synthetic cycling jerseys, so pockets cannot be stuffed as much with heavy items. Good choice for a mountain bike top though.

Very good video with excellent descriptions for every item. Love the fashion tips too!! Darn Tough makes great socks. I also like SwiftWick socks. I would add that chamois cream like DZ Nutz or some other brands add comfort on long rides. You are spot on with RC shoes, full finger gloves, cycling specific eyewear, and a stylish and protective trail helmet. Well done!

Excellent video! Could you do a similar one focusing on protective gear (knee pads, elbow pads, etc) specifically for women? Are there even female specific types? Interested in knowing what your experience for my wife.

Hello. Great video! Nice work. I watch all of your videos, and your husbands, Hardtail Party. You are offering great advice for women,
And your channel is a nice outlet. My opinion is you can take it a bit further to help more women when they are at Step-1 buying a bike and do an entire video about what is needed before you hit dirt off-road and single track, meaning what is needed on the bike, spare tube repair, multi tool etc, tire levers patch kit, spare derailleur hanger, water pack or hip pack. This video can be extensive as a real service for beginners. To NOT scare your video watchers you can even break it down to light off road, and or paved and dirt fire roads. Kudos on saying have multiple brands because Chamoix varies where it hits the crotch, and even.... lay the liners out on table to show the different thicknesses and shapes! You can also do another video explaining long hot rides, more miles than just 10, and explain how some women prefer bibs for more hard core riding.
Keep up the great work and a shout out to the dusty Betty family. Also I miss the trailer channel.

"Bird Leg's,mm sure a lot of women would die for your physique.
Your hand's are most impressive also!
Advice I'm sure every up and coming competitive rider will much appreciate.
As for Sock Apparel Would Highly recommend 'Alpaca' as a material most suitable for any serious rider.
Keeping your feet cool or warm according to season with an anti-bacterial property with additional benefit of drying on the body
Being able to be worn for long period's without undesirable smell!
    Enjoy your most helpful videos.

Oh I wish they made long enough shorts for those of us who are fit (slim) and tall. For some reason clothing manufacturers think that tall also equals fat. It is not possible to not have a gap if you're 180cm tall.

What are the glasses you said that change from light to dark? I don't think it's either of the pairs you mentioned in the video, right? Looking for a good pair that has this feature. Thanks so much & this video was great especially for a new rider like me :O)

Great video, even though I'm a guy I there are lots of useful for me. I've started riding a year ago and was at least smart enough to wear glasses from day one. You know you made the right decision as soon as the first rock or bug smashes against them. Coming from a skateboarding background I used my trusted Vans at first but switched for some five tens two months ago. Needed a few days to get comfortable with not feeling the pedals that much anymore, but the added grip and improved power transmission is well worth it. Still looking for some cargo shorts for riding since I'm always wearing cargo pants and I actually use all the pockets. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

I am WAY new mountain biking. My boyfriend got me Giant Fathom 29 and I have been out on some easy trails with him a few times. I am quickly finding out (after one of my pedals smashed into my shin) that I think I would like some protective padding. Do you have any recommendations on guards? Also, would you opt for womens specific guards, or have you found that mens work just fine?
