When you paint do you use a printer or just paint extra coats of paint? I’ve been trying to find a high heat primer

I use POR15. POR15 uses a very light coat as a primer. Let that very light coat dry for a couple of hours. Then spray a heavy topcoat.
Allow that to dry for 24 hours before you bake it. I bake in three steps. I heat the firebox to 300 for one hour, then the right half of the cook chamber and finally the left half.
Obviously the firebox is around 500 when the left side of the cc is at 300.
POR15 is the best there is in my opinion.
Price and exposure danger are the downsides. Use very good PPE and follow the directions. It's not like normal paint. It's very toxic until it dries. In addition, there is little to no odor. You won't realize how much you inhale.
If you do it correctly, it will last for years even on the firebox.
Most guys fail by overheating the firebox by doing it all in one step.
Some paints offer their own primer. One popular brand requires a primer that is extremely expensive. Over $300/ gal last time I checked. So, be sure to read the fine print. They will not stand behind their product if not applied correctly.

I watched and subscribed a day or two ago where your tank was on rollers so you could roll it and mark it before cutting, that is such a good idea, if time in in my favor today I want to make one as well for a large tank I would like to mark up before cutting, I have a question though is there any problem making a reverse flow out of a 36" X 8' tank?
I made a 60 gallon reverse flow and it is completely functional and this time I wanted to combine traditional and reverse flow on this larger tank where the end opposite of the firebox would be a square tall box for hanging items to smoke (traditional or combination if something is in the main chamber).
One last question I have a sheets of 1/2" plate that I was intending to use on the firebox (that's what I used on the 60 gallon) other than weight is 1/2" overkill? I live in Wisconsin and like to cook early winter.
Thanks, I like your designs and Ideas for the counter weights on the large smoker I plan on using extra large bolts each bolt weighs 16 lbs and when you put two together with a large nut 32+ lbs I will double them up or triple (4 or 6 bolts) on each door, I did one set on the 60 gallon and it looks good and works fantastic.

You can certainly make a reverse flow from a 3x8 tank. The limiting factor on a reverse flow is length. 8 foot is pushing it but doable. If the air has to travel too far, it tends to slow since the stack's ability to pull is limited.
Having said that, I would make it as efficient of a system as I could. Eliminate all of the obstructions to air flow that you can. For example, run an 8 inch stack with a well designed collector and a nice firebox. (See the video clips on my Facebook profile on fireboxes and collectors.)
Half inch steel is way overkill in my opinion. It causes more problems than its worth in my opinion. If its all you have, I'd use it. Otherwise, 1/4" is more versatile.
You have me mixed with someone else in counter weights. I dint build large cookers any more and thus dont need them.
Thanks for reaching out. Dont hesitate if I can help with your project.
Im not a fan of hybid cookers. They dont dont excel at either. I would reverse or direct and design it clean and efficient. I prefer direct flow cookers. Reverse flow cookers are a bit more forgiving but dont at a sacrifice of smoke exposure and reduced flavor.
