Great video. I loved that cute bird. So adorable!! And I loved the gate drawing and the waterwheel. Your videos are always inspiring . Thank you for sharing😃😃
The gate was my favourite, love the movement and textures. I could just imagine the fluffy robin picking up a pencil to draw or maybe he was wondering why you had collected so many tree branches lol the Canadian landscape currently has almost no colour, still snowing 🌨️😢the other day even the sky was a completely neutral white that blended into the snow covered roofs, so looking forward to spring 🌿I think the May and October colours are the most inspiring
Thanks for sharing your favourite sketch always interesting to hear. Haha yes he probably was! Definitely agree May is a favourite time particularly love seeing all the flowers coming up.
Such a beautiful and comprehensive video - love it! Mesmerizing too - your voice, music, illustrations, and location footage work together so harmoniously. ❤
I love your outings around Cornwall. Your artwork is so stunning. Your winter palette is beautiful. I love the muted colors. Talking through the process is so helpful. I really feel inspired! I cannot wait to see your spring palette. 🙂
This video is relaxing and a joy to watch. It also makes me think of joining your prompts too. I loved the mini sketchbook tour you have here. 🤍🤍🤍 Looking forward to your next vids! ✨
Enjoyed your winter prompt challenge. Love your work. I like the sienna colors and gray colors - again, your work is inspiring and beautiful. Can’t wait to see more of your work.
It’s so interesting to see all the colours that you used together as a page of swatches. They look so beautiful as a palette. I’m looking forward to seeing how your palette changes with the spring season! Thanks for a lovely video.x
Mel this post is simply stunning, I enjoyed it so much. I love watching your sketchbooks paired with the view that inspired your work. Thank you sharing❤
I could look through your sketchbooks all day. Thank you for sharing! I would LOVE to know more about how / why and your process for doing the prepared / pre-painted sketchbook pages. I'm very intrigued by that method and LOVE the end results. Thanks Melanie!
Thanks Michael 😊 I'll probably share a bit more when I have done more, but suffice to say it's a fun way to work and makes my sketching time even quicker!
Loved watching this episode so much !! Wonderful palette and just in time for winter ! I will have to modify a bit since I am in London but some of those will definitely work !
Melanie, thank you for the inspiration. I just loved this. I have taken notes and I’m excited to check my supplies and get to sketching. This was very helpful.😊❤️
I enjoyed this format of your presentation, great editing. My favorites were the colors of the robin! I hope you will draw him too in your landscapes! He is your protector and possibly your muse incarnate, don't you think? 😊
Mel-- I found this post so wonderful. Loved watching you display how you combine your materials in color palettes. Inspired me to look at my own inventory to match up some palettes for outings. I adore your style and have had your calendar two years running
Really interesting. I do like your habit of recording place, date/time and colour palette under each sketch. I must start doing this! Plus your mixed media usage is quite inspiring. Many thanks.
First of all, I have to say that this video is perfect. It has all the things I love about your videos: looking at your sketches, getting to see the places where you sketch, colour swatches, and your calming presence. I could (and will) watch this on repeat. And I could probably watch hours of footage of that robin! I was wondering, though, if you do anything in particular to keep your sketches from horribly smudging when you close the sketchbook or draw on the back side of a page. When I use coloured pencils or Neocolor 2, I have to put paper between any pages that I actually like or else they get ruined. But your sketches all look wonderful! Do you put something in between while you sketch, or use some sort of fixative or anything? Thank you for sharing this video, it was very inspiring!
Thanks that's very kind of you to say! Regarding smudging I sometimes have a piece of paper I slip in between when I'm pressing one page to another but other than that I don't do anything else apart from sometimes erasing some marks that have transferred.
Thanks and yes of course it's made by Peg and Awl- you can purchase through Jacksons www.jacksonsart.com/peg-and-awl-the-sendak-artist-roll-all-black?___store=jacksonsart_en&acc=5cce8dede893813f879b873962fb669f or directly through Peg and Awl's site.
This is something I've honed over the last 5 years- I didn't start with all of these materials but gradually added /took away what worked or didn't. I have a video on my channel of everything I take out for an overview if you're interested: ruclips.net/video/vAbkJj2Gbug/видео.html

What an incredible interaction with nature. That robin was too precious!
I love the prepared pages idea. Do you have a video demonstrating how you do this process? ❤🎨
I think in my Spring Vlog there is a little demo of me doing them- here is the link ruclips.net/video/8j81mYFYpTI/видео.htmlsi=8wsLgF_eMUVeprJn&t=534
The Robin is precious

Thank you so much! Yes, the burnt sienna really has grown on me, particularly with the moody greys and greens.

Thankyou so much but please don't be sad!
Why sad

It was fun to see all the colours together and think it's definitely useful to swatch to give me ideas for wintery/ muted colour palettes.

Mel this video was thoroughly enjoyable like all your vids loved the bonus of seeing you swatch out your colours for winter thank you 💜
Glad you enjoyed it and the swatching, always nice to see other artist's colour palettes too!
I enjoyed this format of your presentation, great editing. My favorites were the colors of the robin! I hope you will draw him too in your landscapes! He is your protector and possibly your muse incarnate, don't you think? 😊
Thank you! I have drawn him as a gift for a friend, but may be he should feature in a landscape too!
Mel-- I found this post so wonderful. Loved watching you display how you combine your materials in color palettes. Inspired me to look at my own inventory to match up some palettes for outings. I adore your style and have had your calendar two years running
Thank you so much Lue! And glad it's inspired you in your sketch outings. AND I really do appreciate you buying my calendars.
Really interesting. I do like your habit of recording place, date/time and colour palette under each sketch. I must start doing this! Plus your mixed media usage is quite inspiring. Many thanks.

Beautiful video and painting! Where did you get that beautiful brush and pencil wrap? I've been looking for one similar to this! ❤

Love your colors but how do you carry so many supplies when sketching outside? That’s also quite an investment.
